Hmm, that explains why I didn't notice, I rarely break out my SM stalker. So, hemorrhage from hide does much less damage now. Good to know, I'll respect out of it.

Uh, basic social norms of communication that are accepted by the majority and expected are relevant. Truth and honesty are universal, my friend, and communication that actively violates the social norms of a society one exists in are considered counter. This isn't his rules, your rules or my rules, we all DO exist in a social network where our shared rules apply, whether you accept them or not is immaterial a to the fact that humans are social animals, communication exists and we all form context, symbols and norms. Choosing to ignore them and then expect that it's ok to expect that mistruths and falsehoods are acceptable is dangerous and divisive. Truth and honesty are always relevant, straw men and ad hominem are counter. Always. Everyone knows that making things up, pretending someone else said it and then attacking them is not ok, that's exactly what a straw man is; let's not debate the symantics of it. The reason that falsehoods and mistruths are so deeply offensive is due to that fundamental human precept of our social nature, when trust is violated I can no longer be safe around that person who is untrusted. That's just human nature.

@arthurh35353just thought I would say... I'm glad you're here and engaged and posting 😉 After all, we aren't we without YOU, and it takes all of us to make a family. While you may have disagreement with an idea, it's not a judgment of you; I'm quite certain that anyone here who has a different perspective than yours absolutely is grateful you're here. So, keep up the good work! We need your voice! Just like @Hyperstrike, @Replacementwill challenge me (and others as well), we may engage with you in discourse. Ideas are necessary, and while this one may be ill received (I've had some shit ideas myself 🤪) we all are Heroes together. Except @Bill Z Bubba... He's a ne'er-do-well. 🤯🤪 And, nerf regen. Twice.

"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?

Again, when you try and create the toon, what exact message do you get? Not when you search with getglobal, when you try and create the toon -
@Starhammer Rather than quite multiple posts of textwall... Flippant Quips about "debate team" are immaterial to the fact that the colloquial term is a straw man argument when an individual fabricates something, assigns it to another and proceeds to refute it; an indication of flawed reasoning and lack of actual sound proof their supposition has merit. Recognizing it may be frustrating for the individual who relies on such a social tactic, however, this does not mean it shouldn't be highlighted. Allowing falsehoods and blatant misstruths to flourish does everyone a disservice, for truth is essential to lucid communication. Assumptions that anyone is using the premise that "change to code is bad" for a diatribe about how ideas are summarily dismissed ignores the very clear and lengthy details many have attempted to convey about HOW the particular change is very undesirable. No one used an excuse of "developer time" to avoid anything; it's a very real LIMITED resource being discussed, and rightly so. No one is "derailing a whole concept," many are very clearly outlining that it's a not a concept that is necessary, has dramatic consequences and the perceived problem it seems to solve has been revealed to be no where near an issue, as described in the OP. Now, it may be their personal desire to have what they want, but this is not an indication of a problem we face collectively. I understand your feelings, but keep in mind that they may very well be discrete from facts and soap boxes can be notoriously frail.

No, I mean when you try and use the name in creator -

What, exactly, does the system tell you when trying to remake? There are two possibilities 1. The name is taken/not available 2. Input a valid name If you got #2, it's because it's a banned name, and this does happen, where you had the name and in the intervening time it became not acceptable. So on remake, not an option. -
I'm sorry, that's not how coding works. While it may seem that a script, or code, or anything- written for the function you are mentioning could apply to something else... It's not at all like that. The knowledge that the human gains applies, but the actual code will not, it would be new work. Further, it would be quite extensive and touch nearly everything else. No one is shouting down your idea. We are, however, very clearly pointing out that it is not one that should even be attempted.

Here's the quote, so you don't have to scroll back up.

No one instantly naysayers you. Some people no voted, for good reason. Many explained why with evidence. It's not a fact that it's the same functionality, as you say, it is a foundational change with so much potential for fallout that I would never allow such a flippant core change to basecode of any system that I design. Also, @Shenanigunner did not state anything "as a fact" he actually said "IMVVVVVHO" if you scroll back and look. he said "in his humble opinion." I'm very sorry, but you're actually starting to distort facts, which is a highly questionable practice. I would advise against that.

Tri-form warshader here... That's a completely separate issue, 1. Kheldians tri-formers by and large do not use toggle human powers, as they will not be slotted well, offering little value 2. Kheldians tri-formers spend little time in human form, it is utility, negating any real benefit of toggles. 3. Kheldian human power toggles should suppress when shifted, never actually shut off. If you follow the Kheldians boards and threads therein, there are numerous reasons why the change to toggles you propose would not solve the Kheldian human form issues, toggle suppression would. So, your example actually validates you are actually causing the issue you are observing. I'm happy to offer tri-form guidance, should you choose.

Please be sure not to selectively quote when discussing, it is a disservice to both of us as it omits actual evidence.

@arthurh35353 Rather than quoting the multiple posts... Your opinion that it's QoL has been noted and directly discussed with counter evidence: it is most decidedly NOT QoL. Your opinion that it's not necessary or thematic is again notes, we respect you have that opinion... Many disagree and have provided commentary and evidence supporting their position as well. Your insistence that your opinion about the requested change is nothing but a benefit, ignoring all discussion about the negative repricussions, indicates you're not willing to acknowledge any presented evidence that does not support your claims. If you're ROUTINELY retoggling... You're doing something dramatically wrong, it should be a rare occurence. Perhaps a bit of tactical gameplay coaching would help? Many of us would be happy to help you with some guidance. I understand your position. Please refer to the multiple answers in this thread, should you need to review the many reasons why this idea is not desirable. Sorry, no vote remains for me.

If toggle dropping has no consequences, by way of mass retoggling, tactical gameplay that is observant of that is eliminated. I no longer am I as mindful of end issues or stacked status effects. I am not penelized for allowing my toggles to crash. If end drained by malta, for example, shall I continue to fight and then execute limited retoggling? punch 3 purple insps and roll on? Fall back and hit blues or break LoS? Entire factions are built around their ability to negate your toggles. I must manage this process tactically, which I have done. Another facet, End crash powers now have less penalty associated with use. There are numerous scenarios that highlight the balance and functionally integrated mechanic the animation represents. Altering basecode to allow the requested function would have drastic consequences. None of this is hyperbole, it's based in actual case evidence. An example/analogy of how the request is not QoL: a certain person at my work is immaculately stubborn when demanding system changes to a specific portion of New Product Introduction, furiously and vociferously declaring that their simple change to datasheet generation, distribution, revision and dissemination has nothing to do with NPI and is just a simple QoL improvement... Not realizing that the entire system architecture is integrated, and a single change breaks system logic for projects, valuation, general ledger, PAC, dashboards, alerts, supply chain, resource procurement... The list is endless. Really... It's not hyperbole, I spend countless hours as a system architect and analyst... This is not a good idea.

Have you read the whole thread?

They're "haters" because they perceive the change to have negative consequences? Questionable rhetoric. No vote.
-
that's a great deal of hyperbole. I'm sure we can refrain from resorting to calling things stupid that we dislike, strictly out of preference. I do understand that you don't like animation length on many powers, yet that does not make them stupid. The game is built and balanced wonderfully well, with art and animations that are second to none. Wholesale changes to animations that are apart of design is a hard no vote. It would be a completely different game. Perhaps that's what you're looking for? A completely different game? When I see people play first person shooting games I think they're ridiculous, who runs with their hands up, jerking a rifle back and forth 4 inches from their face? No one, it's at waist height, human biomechanics. They are popular though and I know it's not the game, it's me: that's not a game I would enjoy. The animations are apart and parcel, a core game feature.

Suggestion: Wrist/Palm/Hand-based Animations for Beam Rifle
SwitchFade replied to RunoKnows's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Sure. We'd all like more customization; however, the work necessary is significant. Animations and such are a ton of work. -
Your argument is "don't do it, because also more bad..." Right? Just making sure that's what you meant. Which is also true, but just making sure, because the statement seemed to say that, but wording was a bit confusing.

"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
SwitchFade replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
After careful thought on all of this... 1. Game balance should be around SOs, slightly left of center. 2. Purple patch should be slightly adjusted so controll type powers are more effective at +4 3. New content should be balanced around SOs, with newer game mechanics for more interesting challenges 4. Incarnate attacks and lore should be exemp lvl 49, not 45. Other incarnate abilities, such as alpha and musculature should remain exemp 45 5. New 50+ regular content should be balanced around SOs, slightly right of center. 6. New End Game content should be balanced to be normal at +2-3, with difficulty using game mechanics like the new @Piecemeal arcs (good stuff). 7. 50+ content should allow +5 as a setting. 8. Market interface refresh, tutorial refresh. 9. Incarnate content should leverage existing unused zones like shadow shard. 10. This one is debatable --> as diff level rises, a small Buff to MOB HP by 5-8%, over lvl 35. 11. P2W offers +xp/-inf, it should offer -xp/no inf change -
Wholesale alterations to game design like allowing powers to bypass animations, allowing powers to fire simultaneously, allowing macros or binds to fire multiple powers automatically with one press... No thanks. That's not what the game is, now should it be. Not to mention how much it would break. End management is part of the game.
