I play just about the full spectrum of this game to one degree or another. I might PL a given character to 50, but more often than not, I level them organically. I stop and smell the figurative roses. I think a heroic alignment point would be an excellent idea - but only if they don't drop from Agent Hassell, if that makes any sense. Not sure if they can make the distinction, though. As for your commentary about the community pushing players to 50...I disagree, but that's kind of a distraction from your suggestion for me to reply in full to that.

I see no reason why not. But I don't see any reason why. You want to lock a player into a set of missions that offer no reward, aside from a badge (if they go to the proper /loc) and maybe a temp power if they complete a certain side mission. And most of us can just go to Agent Hassell and get that without the buy-in of 3-5 routine missions.

In all seriousness, at least you're using enhancements. There's more than a few who can't be bothered to blow some inf on any enhancements until...I have no idea. I think I read one guy didn't use them at all until 22. The game changes when you start using Set IOs. Things get a little easier, but they can also get more confusing. There's no rule of 5 with a damage SO. Fortunately, our community has some super smart people who break the mysteries down so most folks who have the patience to literally read the posts can figure it out. But if you skim...you're likely to get lost. The skimmers today! Why can't they read my big page of text?

I have made a Shield/XXX of just about every tank available. I've also made a fire/XXX tank of just about every option. So, what it does for me, is it makes the process of creating the build a little faster. The lessons learned from the first (and sometimes the 2nd and 3rd) help things along a little bit. Some secondaries make certain goals with defense or other attributes a bit easier to reach or easier to manage. So, there's always a difference here and there.

There was a time when I was heavily influenced by a Dr. Robert Haas, who wrote a book called "Eat to Win". In this book, he mentions that the milk most of us drink isn't what we should be drinking. Milk is designed for baby cows, not humans. The dairy industry apparently read this book and fixed it - now the very cows that make the milk the dairy industry sells us has been designed for humans. As for your actual post, some of us are long winded. And some of us do it to deliberately waste Snarky's time. With work, I continuously have to refine my emails, even the stupid text messages I have to send the occasional candidate or client. (it's why I hate text messages, they're too short to accurately relay some messages.) Lately, I've been trying to put the wordy stuff in a spoiler, with a summary at the top. -

There's /hide. And there's /ghide, which is /globalhide. Admittedly, my issue is always forgetting I'm hidden, so I tend to just not hide.

So, just thinking out loud. Why? I accept the fact that stepping into a mob of +4/8 and not having to do anything to mitigate incoming damage is not very interesting to a lot of players. It's an interesting thing, this contrast between players that want to feel genuinely super and those that are looking for legitimate challenge. On the one hand, it's crazy that we use Mids, plot out our builds to handle that kind of challenge, and then complain there's no challenge. Ouro and TFs offer the opportunity for various challenges, but some players want that challenge to be consistent, across the board. Not overwhelming 4* challenge, just a little bit harder than what we have now. Like 1*, I suppose. Other players want page 3 fire farm kind of super. Just park it and watch it burn. It has been both boring and cathartic on some level for me. I imagine a fair number of players from retail dabbled in Regen before the nerf. I had a spines/regen scrapper named Scipio. Had a fair amount of fun with it. Didn't have mids or anything, so no telling what I might have been able to do if I'd had a clue as to what I was doing. I can't speak for the OP, but I imagine there wasn't much math done, maybe some mental calculations. Still, isn't it time something was done with regen? If someone were to ask me to create the most miserable melee character I could, it would be a kinetic melee/regen scrapper. Regen can be passable, and even fairly good on a Sentinel properly done. But how many of our players do things properly? I'm okay with a few folks, using their knowledge of game mechanics having a simple time of it so the more casual player can feel more super from time to time. I don't pretend to know the litmus test for what's over-powered. Is it over-powered for some our better players who can zip through 4* LGTF in 25 minutes? Is it over-powered for the 16 year old kid who only gets to play on every other Saturday when he's not having to travel to his Dad's house on the weekends? I can't answer these questions. Thankfully I don't have to. But I think even though the numbers suggested might be terribly OP, it's worth a look. An investigation as to what it might do to the Sent that can make fair use of regen, and what it might do for a scrapper that can only presently be passable for the average player. Maybe the idea is good, but the numbers are too high. The meme "Nerf Regen" ...it's time to put that away and actually make regen a good set, not just passable. -
I suppose I'm also guilty of misunderstanding your post. War Witch takes up what? 10 total square feet? At the very most. How big is pocket D? It's huge. There's room for hundreds of players in there as is. Would it be crowded? Sure. So what? There is no harm in it, other than whatever coding needs to be done. But, as I preface most of my posts, I'm obtuse. Maybe you see something down the road that I don't. But if 20 more npcs were dancing in Pocket D, I wouldn't even notice. Given how simple it is to add a dancing npc to my SG base, I can't imagine this taking more than a few minutes to do.

Or, just stop with the animations and activation times. What would be so horrible about simply having the power execute when pressed/clicked? I have never understood this games dedication to delays in teleporting/transporting. -
I was going to try and say something silly, like try Super Speed, and then I saw Snarky's answer. That is probably enough silliness. As far as something useful to say, isn't there a method for changing the camera angle that could be combined with the teleport bind/macro? I don't think my experience with macros/binds is sophisticated enough to combine the two, but I would think it's possible. But then again, after reading what they do, you might still have to use your mouse to get your character to face the direction you want. I just pulled those from the HC Wiki. Odds are there's more than just those available, but I can't be sure. As for me, I'll take Super Speed. No binds or macros required.

A player created solution could be as simple as sharing a base macro for players without the lrtp to use. Then they just have to hustle to a base. Trust me, there will always be some players that make movement harder than it needs to be, either for thematic reasons or ignorance. As it stands now, if the XP is (or other rewards are) good, folks will find a way to get where they need to get quickly.

Well, you can do what you like, of course. I've certainly come up with my own share of silly/senseless challenges. I am not real clear which would be more...interesting/silly/stupid - leveling up with brawl only, or only using what drops to outfit the character. I presume this brawl only character can still buy enhancements for stamina and such, so you'll probably fare as well or better than my poor drop challenge characters that seemed to be in a no-enhancements ouro challenge, despite having the odd common acc or damage IO in a few powers. Better as it leveled up, but getting to the mid-20's was a genuine grind. Not for the faint-hearted. Just do us all a favor - unless you find some like-minded silly people - don't team up. It's just not as funny when you're on a team with someone like this, and you're trying to get things done. But - cheer up - this game has a lot of folks who think this kind of thing is hilarious and great fun.

So, this is just my take, and there's certainly no evidence to suggest my thoughts are closely similar to anyone else's. I have only ever seen 4 zones ever tackle a zone event with any degree of success. I define success as few defeats, a league of 3 or more teams. Peregrine Island, right in the ol' parking lot in front of Portal Corp. Founders, off from the train, just a bit near where the contact for Kahn TF is, or, in a few other places in that zone. Kings Row, down the hill from Blue Steel. Talos Island, on the hill. If something kicks off in Bricks, or anywhere red side or Praetoria, there might be a few folks that join in, but they're not very well attended. I see certain events kicking off in the Shadow Shard, and I already know there's no point in going there because nobody's going to make the trip. Now, on Excelsior, there are a few leaders who seem to be popular enough to be a draw because their events often lead to success. And those few folks might be able to get enough folks to create a successful environment, but aside from those few folks, it's not likely to happen. Now, is this a problem? I guess it could be, if you're looking for one. But for me, it's just a minor annoyance. I'll get in the mission soon enough, or the league if it's of interest to my character.

So, I'm not sure if this is an actual bug, but it seems like it's one to me. Doing the Defeat all foes in Weather Lab for the meteorologist badge. The first mission is to defeat 30 Nemesis. No problem, there's a Nemesis invasion going on in Talos right now! So, I stand on the hill let a nuke fly...and zip for progress. I target one, use snipe, one shot, one kill. No progress. I check the mission details to see if they had to be in PI or something, but the details say to kill anywhere. So, it's a minor thing. I imagine Nemesis invasion troops are probably identified with some other variable name, as I'm thinking this mission was created earlier than the nemesis invasions. Still, I felt it worth reporting.

For me, Statesman is still alive. I cannot count how many comics I've read, and shows I've watched where someone was presented as dead, only to find out it was some other person or entity that merely resembled them enough to fool those who needed to be fooled. Just because the game shut down before this sinister plot-twist was unraveled for us doesn't mean my reality isn't the way things are. But in all seriousness, his echo in my temp tray is enough to suit me. The real States doesn't do squat for me. The Echo is at my beck and call.

I don't get it. I only got the singular effect from casting it 2x. I mean, I wasn't real sure, so I tested it and still come up wrong? What is this game?! The effect, per my detailed tab info is supposed to last 45 seconds. So, I cast the 2nd one at about the 30 second mark, as that's approximately when it recharged. I even redid it just now, and the power analyzer still only shows a single -30% from Tar Patch after casting it a 2nd time. I even closed the analyzer window and recast the analyzer and still only got the single effect. Mind you, this was with a DDD defender. I brought my ice/dark corr on and see the 2x effect. But I checked CoD and it does say for the defender the stacking is per caster, same as the corruptor. I'm not sure what to make of my glitched defender. Maybe that's why I hadn't played him in 687 days! And...yet, on the third test, it works as you folks say it does, 2x the debuff. So, clearly, something must have screwed up on my end. I appreciate you folks taking the time to point out my flawed conclusion. But honestly, I did test it! I just got bad results for reasons which escape me. Maybe it missed, and I didn't catch it? I only have the token slot, and no accuracy in it, just a slow/end/recharge.

This took me by surprise, as I'd just bought a power analyzer from the START vendor. So, I knew I had at least some inf, and found it highly unlikely I only had 50K inf to make that purchase. The AH confirms I have the funds, but the combat stats seem to be stuck or lost in the past on a character I recently deleted. Convinced logging off and then on would fix it, I set out to at least get some day job credit in the vanguard base - and zoning fixed the issue. Still, that's buggy, so I'm reporting it.

I was under the impression a second cast of Tar Patch refreshed the -res, but didn't stack it - unless it was in conjunction with another player's own tar patch. I could certainly be incorrect, I suppose the only way to be sure is to log in my own 3D, long neglected for 687 days. The famed Rikti Pylon, and it's stats via Power Analyzer: With 1 Tar patch: With 2 tar patches (from the same player), there is no difference. (I would share the graphic, but there really is no difference.) So, yeah, they would only stack from another player. If I had a second dark/dark...well, maybe I do, but I don't feel the need to log in that level 32 DD to demonstrate what I'm reasonably confident in. Still, with -30Res, who needs a 2nd dark. Nice to have, but I'd rather have a natty or a kin to complement, rather than stack. So, really, no need to push for more than a 45 second recharge in most situations, as that's how long the debuff lasts.

My first 50, a zillion years ago back in the days of issue 3 was an emp elec. I had fly, and hover. Over the years, my playstyle has changed a bit. Now, I get Combat Jumping for any characters that don't fly - which is most of them. The characters that fly get hover. Both provide the same defense% last I checked, and would take the same defensive IO's I'd be inclined to put in them. Staying out of melee range is harder when you're solo than when you're teamed with a melee. This is why it always pays for a ranged character to have some method of keeping melee npcs at range. For my ice blasters/defenders/corruptors, freeze ray works like a charm, but it only stops one npc. Still the recharge is pretty good, so typically (at least in the 20's anyway) I can tackle two npcs that are trying to get to melee. It's probably why blasters get a t-1 immob to start out with. You mentioned being level 8, so until you get up a few levels, if you can at all afford it, visit the start vendor and get some plasmatic tasers. They're great for tossing a few npcs back about 10 feet. Until then, hover (or the jet pack you get at level 2) can work just fine. Hover will work better. Not for the defense, but because hover won't use up so much endurance the way the jet pack will. But, in a pinch, the jet pack can work.
