Be careful. Never go full Snarky (unless you're @Snarky). If Snark lasts more than 4 hours, seek medical assistance.

From long ago discussions I'm only vaguely remembering, the reason for Null the Gull is it is a simple way to add in some features without worrying about the UI, as there's a dialogue to enact the changes (usually an info investigation, mode change, or hidden Power enable/disable). I've thought about this and I personally think the disabling of Group Fly would be better on the Toon using Group Fly, where the default is to only affect the Toon and its Pets. Needing to take an action to turn on it affecting other Players and their Pets.

The Paradox of the Well of the Furies
Jacke replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
Reference the bold text: Why not both? Throw in some Isaac Asimov too (The End of Eternity (1955) which does seem to be awfully like a recent production of a large studio....). Welp, doing more with the story would be good. Guess it would start with fixing some past issues. As hard as that would be. Maybe some day. -

Empyrean Merits (and 50 of them in a Transcendent Merit) can already be emailed to the Global Email address, allow transfer of that particular Incarnate Salvage between Toons on the same Account. -
@Psyonico is right. And @KaizenSoze, you may not notice the misses in an AoE attack. And then there's Pets. Except for a very few (like Electrical Blast's Voltaic Sentinel), they mostly don't benefit from the Caster's Global buffs, like Level Shifts, Global ToHit, and Global Accuracy. That +4 Notoriety really is +4 to the Pets even when the Caster has a T3 or T4 Alpha Boost. That lead me to this general rule so I wouldn't have to recalculate for each Pet: The Pet Summon Power should have ED-capped Accuracy. If the Pet has important attacks that have less than 1.2 Base Accuracy, they also need Tactics (even just Mastermind base-Slot only Tactics) or good -Def on the target(s). That was on Targets without Def. Considering most Cimerorans have +15%....

The Paradox of the Well of the Furies

We have this Incarnate System that we use to get more Powers to play with. And there's all sorts of stories told to us to explain all this. And we're still not quite equal to the Signature Supers. Hmmm..... .... Me thinks there's a lot of porkies being told here. Talk about your unreliable narrators. It'll be hard. But perhaps try to figure out what's behind all this by what it does, not whatever tall tales we've been told. -
.... Whoa.... I read that and immediately thought, no way, not a Snarky Trial, it would have to be a Snarky Task Force, or rather a Snarky Strike Force. Just imagine....

At launch there were the original 4 Scrapper Secondaries: Dark Armor Invulnerability Regeneration Super Reflexes Which were the 4 Arcanaville did a detailed comparison on in Issue 7: https://web.archive.org/web/20120905195532/http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=115310 I never realised that. The Click Status Protection Powers for Ninjitsu, Shield Defense, and Super Reflexes all have "Can Cast Through Hold Sleep Stun Terror", so indeed they can be used reactively. Also, Super Reflexes' Practice Brawler doesn't provide protection against Terror and Confuse, which the Ninjitsu and Shield Defense do.

I've used a few keybinds to be sure of this. From my keybind file loaded into every Toon on creation: F11 "screenshotui 1$$screenshot" F12 "screenshotui 0$$screenshot" CTRL+F12 "screenshotui 1$$screenshot" -
Curious - when are you "done" with a character?
Jacke replied to Ukase's topic in General Discussion
I tend to focus on only a few Toons, but I'm never really done with them. My main and main Badger, AR/Devices Blaster, concept was 2005, ran it from L1 to L50 in 2006 to 2009, kept playing, played it on that awful day when I thought that was the last time I'd play City ever. On HC recreated and went L1 to L50 from 2019 to 2021. Still playing it, 2 copies, CB and HC on Everlasting. Lost track of how many Respecs I've taken the AR/Devices through, latest just this last August. Hard as it's the sole Toon I have multiple builds, 3 of them, all the same except for the Epic Pool and 3 Powers (so a low-Level change needs 6 Respecs), but it must be dozens. It's also the only Toon I'm sure the build is close to the best. I think. Still playing the AR/Devices. CB one just completed Safeguard and Mayhems, as well some low-level Flashbacks both Blue-side and Red-side. On Everlasting the HC version previously completed Safeguard and Mayhems, now doing the Gold-side Flashbacks. I'm just over 100 Toons on CB and HC combined. Mostly focused on a few. But as I'm not "finished" on the most played Toon I've ever had, I don't think I'll ever finish a single Toon. Hey, I've yet to get a Completist Toon through to L50. -
Endurance Cost: How would you handle it?
Jacke replied to Black Tangent's topic in General Discussion
I really depend on using MRB to make a good build. I've used various Hero Builders over the years and the complexity of even an SO-only build had me make good of them early. I find it easier to remember the few serious unfixable bugs (e.g. most Pets/Pseudopets do not get benefit from the Caster's Global Buffs) and what is right helps me a lot. I've known others who don't use a Hero Builder. I could do that meself if I had to. But I prefer not to go without. -
Wow, @tidge, that's an interesting plan. At least Drain Psyche doesn't have a Pseudopet and will benefit from the Toon's Global ToHit and Global Accuracy. Good point on not needing perma on Drain Psyche, as Endurance and Hit Points will provide a buffer when it drops. And using Unleash Potential as a not-needing-targets backup +Rec +Regen. Either Power would be a good place for my goto for +Rec enhancement, an Attuned 2-set of Synapse's Shock, EndMod and EndMod/+RunSpeed. Don't know if it would be easier to go after SL+ Defense. I'm also starting to get alarmed at some Toons' need for so many Click Powers to keep going.

I try to plan ahead for a complete slate of Toons, eventually including builds, though it may be a long time until I get to them. Looking at the Blasters, it's those different sort of Sustain Powers and some other factors that makes things a bit complex. Example, for Martial Combat, I've decided to make a Psychic Blast/Martial Combat Blaster (someday) because the Damage buff of Martial Combat is doubled for Psychic and Toxic Damage. But wow, Mental Manipulation's Drain Psyche is rather different. A PBAoE Sustain. Base Recharge 120s, effects last 30s. Wow, that's going to need a lot of Global Recharge, perhaps will have to have Hasten. That's a bummer. Fire Sword Circle is in Fire Manipulation, which is another Blaster Secondary. A Fire Blast/Mental Manipulation Blaster could use Fire Ball RgeAoE and Rain of Fire LocAoE at close range, as well the PBAoE T9 Inferno. There's also the Fire Breath Cone to go with the Psychic Scream Cone. But Fire Breath has a 2.904s Arcanatime Cast. There's my goto Powerset for close-range Blasting, Radiation Blast. It's different on Blasters, almost needs to take both the Primary T1 and T2 (when it's only the T1 on Defenders and Corruptors, while Sentinels seem to have the slow recharge times similar to the Blaster). That has Irradiate PBAoE, Neutron Bomb RgeAoE, and the T9 Atomic Blast PBAoE. I never take the Electron Haze Cone Attack on Defenders or Corruptors, but it at least has a slightly faster 2.508s Arcanatime Cast. Had Cosmic Burst ST Damage with 100% Mag3 Stun. Mental Manipulation's PBAoE Psychic Shockwave only has a 25% chance for a Mag2 Stun. Though there's also Ice Blast, with 2 LocAoEs, Ice Storm and T9 Blizzard, but no RgeAoE. Has a Cone, but like Fire Blast it's a slow 2.904s Arcanatime Cast. Has Holds and its Slows would stack with the Slows from Mental Manipulation. But how good is stacked Slows? Especially with some mobs ignoring Slows (Werewolves) or worse going crazy with them (Rommy). There's also stacked -Recharge from both. I had thought of making an Ice Blast/Mental Manipulation Blaster, but with @Ukase's comment above, maybe it's not such a good idea. Not based upon experience, but I would think either Fire Blast/Mental Manipulation or Radiation Blast/Mental Manipulation could be a good match.

I think what Traps needs most of all is its Power's Debuffing Pets/Pseudopets to inherit the Caster's Global Modifiers. Right now, like most Pets, they don't inherit the Caster's Global Modifiers, most painfully not getting any Global Accuracy or Global ToHit. Using Acid Mortar to get -Def on a target will help, but the Player can't control who Acid Mortar attacks. As it stands, I strongly suggest any Traps builds to use my 2 Pets guidelines for any of the Debuff Powers: Slot the Power with ED-capped Accuracy. If critical Pet Powers have less than 1.2 Base Accuracy, needs either Tactics (even just a Base Slot of Tactics will do) or -Def on the target(s). Else the Pets' Debuffs will miss too often.

Look for "Page 5" in the AE. That'll be the farming maps that were updated to remove Fire Sword attacks.

I'm starting to suspect that there's code in the game to give @Snarky such "interesting" PUG experiences. -

Discovered that the Founders Falls Safeguard minimap is badly aligned. Bug is the same for both standard and Vidiotmaps minimaps, so I assume it's something wrong with City. Including @AboveTheChemist as when it's fixed, there may be an impact that needs to be tweaked in Vidiotmaps. Here's a link to the old Vidiotmap of the Founders Falls Safeguard as it shows what should be visible, as well as the starting location when entering the map. Now follows screenshots of the Founders Falls Safeguard right after entry with default minimap and then current Vidiotmaps minimap. Toon is in the SE corner of the Zone, but the minimap shows only the base map as correctly aligned, with all overlay features including the Toon position offsets to the Left, or West. Third screenshot is the Vidiotmaps version of the Founders Falls Mayhem just to confirm that it is alright, showing the Toon in the NE corner of the map on entry.

But @Bionic_Flea, this means you need to make such a named Toon. And play like its namesake. Those Debt Badges aren't going to earn themselves. 😺 -
Auction House - Enhancement Booster has reached an impasse
Jacke replied to Diantane's topic in The Market
Oh, good point. Got my own stuff wrong too. I use 100,000 Inf as the calculation price for Enhancement Converters. The rest of the post is more-or-less on the point: Gotta get a feel for how the prices vary over a week or two, as well when that bracket changes. If it doesn't appear to be changing back, have to adapt to the changes, as I have for the selling price of rare Enhancements. I really rarely see Converters going much above 70,000 Inf and they're usually around 60,000 Inf, sometimes lower. By the 15-to-1 ratio of Reward Merit Costs for Boosters over Converters, I'd expect to see Boosters hover around 900,000 Inf. That they appear to be around 830,000 Inf is likely due to Players getting a better feel for when they're useful in a build and not overusing them as they may have in the recent past. Also likely driven by Players needing to make builds, both Converters and Boosters. If the recent addition of Marine Affinity didn't affect the price range of Boosters, I'd say that's very odd. Maybe due to a glut of Boosters that will eventually clear. -
If you're having issues installing MRB, it's best to join the MRB Discord and ask for assistance there. The MRB staff and major users have helped many with their install issues. You'll need a Discord account of your own. Then you can use this Discord invite link. https://discord.gg/PgnfmFse
