  1. I noticed some interesting behavior while watching Beta Decay in combat attributes. After you've held a groups aggro for a minute or more, it begins to double the recharge values, and quickly grows larger. It seems to cap out at 6x the 25% value you should get. I went from 121.25 recharge initially to 156.25 as expected, then to hovering between 246.25 and 271.25 over the course of one or two minutes. I doubt that it means much, as you usually don't have the same group of mobs aggroed that long, but it's definitely not WAI. I tried to upload some pics at various stages, but they were over the size cap.
  2. I didn't know him well, but I've talked to him a few times on the forums and greatly appreciated some of the guides he made. It's a damned shame, he was one of the folks that made this place better just for being here. Rest in peace man.
  3. Only thing I'm iffy on here is using living shadows as damage. VG and the 2 pbaoe proc bombs pretty much put in in melee range, and jumping in and out doesn't suit me well. I may continue with living shadows as it and the fear cone mostly as short range tohit debuffs on teams. But I'm definitely using the rest of this, especially Shadow Field as a proc bomb.
  4. Solid advice man, I think I'm gonna use most of that. I was already iffy on the def aura in the pets, and they could use more damage. Thanks a bunch!
  5. This is my current build that I'm loving, with 3 aoes I turned into mini-nukes. It has ~37 s/l def, the rest 15-20 range and using the -tohit and occasional purple to keep defenses high. I'm currently using Mace for the -30 (with proc) -res to bring my total -res output to 90% or so, but I'm also really debating switching to stone. I'm using Vigor alpha for +acc and end red, and probably Clarion for the mez protection. I'd appreciate any input and changes anyone can give. Alkaloid has a +absorb proc in it, but did not add it in mids. 6. I'm torn, I could see him easily being MA or STJ, SR or NIN and it would work. I lean toward MA/SR though if I had to absolutely pick. SR because his senses, reflexes, and agility are simply not human, but a result of the chemical he was blinded with. It's not something that could be trained for, it's Super with that capital S. And although boxing is one of his styles, he's overall a pretty versatile martial artist, so MA fits. But I'm honestly not mad at any of those four in conjunction.
  7. I've seen a build where a Granite tank used a 2 piece jump set I think in the prestige powers for a 6% run speed boost per. That's the only time I've seen it, and I couldn't get myself to do the same on mine.
  8. Can, have, and will and feel as comfortable as Wittgenstein's beetle. Have a good one Josh!
  9. Anyways this is going nowhere fast, and I don't want to be the last word if and when this gets locked. Good luck you on defining a lexicon for this, and I hope you find the audience you want.
  10. If asked, and the thing is you could ask them, right? But their answer may or may not fit in the box you've shaped for meaning there. I think reasonably, most of us here do know what they mean, and the issues is your preconceived notion of how they ought be using the word that trips you up. In a split second decision, I bet you'd come roughly to their meaning as well when not given time to over-analyze it.
  11. I'd just like to point out to onlookers, that what he's describing here is a particular philosophical view of language called prescription or prescriptivism, and these are rules laid out within that school on how language "ought" to be. These are not the rules of language and communication, but the rules put forward by a specific model of language. I'm of an opposite school called description or descriptivism, which is more concerned with what words mean, how they change and language evolves. Neither are inherently right, even though we both like to think we are probably 🙂
  12. I am not talking about DMG, talking about DPS. Not sure the timeline matters much, but I like to be exact-ish? Regardless this isn't a stance that's going to get you anywhere. It doesn't matter that the term has many meanings to different people, language is generally like that. Do you generally understand what the other person means when they ask for a DPS? Can you gather it from context if not? Then the message was recieved and it's good enough, and we don't actually need a strong prescriptivist meaning to the term before we can consider this communication. This is not a case in which a dictionary or even an etymology timeline is going to help you, what you want is what they "mean" by it, and I think you've got that.
  13. Hello from Louisiana and Arkansas. If you asked for a Coke, I'd know what what you meant. My wife cannot wrap her head around how RC is a Coke, but we know. Oh boy, do we know.
  14. Not sure what that has to do with what I said man. I'm not attacking you. I'm just saying that as someone who was around when this term came into meaning and changed, I think it pre-dates your experiences. Didn't intend it to mean or suggest anything else. Leave the English lessons for people that need them please.
  15. I swear to something, I see more misinformation there than anything. It's like someone's take on the forums that never actually reads anything in the forums. I've put some misinfo in my time out there too, been corrected and moved along. But man this has just been wild.
  16. Hey @Joshex I just want to point out that the term DPS long predates both WoW and LoL by a decade or more. I wanted to say it came with text based MUDS, but I think I am mis-remembering that. But I know I heard if quite a bit before MMORPGs became a thing, at minimum alongside Diablo.
  17. I second Single over Charged, for the -regen if nothing else.
  18. Even if you picked the highest DPS set, or one of the top 3, there's not guaranteed you'd like it or that it would mesh well with the secondary you picked with it. Sometimes it is more about the secondary effects, or the secondary powerset you've got that makes it *feel* like it's the most powerful, or most fun. I've got a ton of blasters and my top two favorites are ice/rad, and my newest sonic/psi. Even though sonic is way way way down on the list, the combination feels really great and has a lot of useful av debuffs going on. And damn it, lining up those cones is just hella fun to boot.
  19. It requires a single villain patron arc to unlock ALL villain patron powers. You also get a badge, merits, and a respect out of it.
  20. It did. I had one of Black Scorpion, my wife got one of Captain Mako I think.
  21. IIRC those numbers in on the white part of the base means he has a movement speed of 9 with charge (half move value but can move and attack), attack value of 8 with super-strength (can carry objects), defense of 18 or 19 with invulnerability (soaks 2 damage), and damage of 3 with leadership (can roll for an extra action on 5-6). The other symbols on the base tell me he is not a flier, nor a giant, but has a range of 4 and can hit 2 targets. As the characters take damage, the dial turns (clicks) for each point of damage, lowering values and sometimes changing powers. Like with Hulk, who's values become better the more he is damaged, and he gains new powers (better damage reduction types) as well.
  22. They are still a pretty big thing, and have branched out beyond comics by far. I had a friend who is a collector, and sometimes I play with him. In addition to Marvel/DC, I know there are TMNT, Street Fighter, Lord of the Rings and probably more types of Heroclix. Most comic shops host fairly regular events for this, and you can win some giant sized (some over two feet) clix like Dr. Manhattan, Chthulu, Galactus, and more. It's probably still somewhat niche, but not uncommon among comic fans.
  23. Solid advice, though I rarely use OF at all.
  24. I would not use it myself without the KB to KD proc. I think its Sudden Acceleration that works best in it Kult. The one from SBB works too, but I'm always iffy about the added chance for KD it brings. I wasnt sure if the proc firing with the natural KD might turn it into KB on occasion.
