  1. One final question actually, do you think the FF proc in Cross Punch is worth it? It's a pretty low recharge power, with agility, so I'm not sure I'll a return too often. I haven't figured the proc % yet.
  2. So here's the new build I made incorporating your suggestions and some of the other tanker build you posted. My goal here was to have enough +recharge and +run to offset that portion of Granite, although not as much +run as Da Crusha. I also wanted enough +psi res to handle all the psi in later levels without swapping to minerals, and some +hp/+regen to complement the heal in Radiation Siphon. I think I've got all that here, maybe more psi res than I'd planned. I took @Hjarki's advice and added teleport, took out the leaping line and feel like it was a solid decision. I do plan on Agility alpha, which is why granites defense slotting is a little low; with agility it will put me ~48 and I fit in another +psi res for 60-70% psi with the scaling proc. There's room for improvement and I'm perfectly willing to move things around and adjust if you see something more, but I'm really happy with the direction this is going. One thing to note, I couldn't get mids to adjust relative levels on slot for the enhancements I intended to boost without boosting all of them, which gave some odd values. I plan on boosting a few of these, like sprint and mud pots, but couldn't quite get it to work right. Thanks for the advice! 3. I am really digging the suggestions Bopper. I might have to move around slots and lose about 5% psi res. But I can keep it around 45 still and get a lot more speed out of this. I'll put the new build up tomorrow.
  4. Oh man, did that back in the day not once but twice. Got to say, never again, just not for me lol.
  5. I did not know there was a run speed buff in the new sets. I will do that for sure. My new build has Aegis in Granite itself, and a couple more 7.5 for 9 all told (4 set, 5 io). This should help a lot, especially with the +run speed.
  6. I let this one sit for a bit and found a few threads that gave me other options (proc slotting IG for one). I've adjusted this a fair bit, and am almost at 50 now where I can test out how useful some of it is. My runspeed in granite is hovering around 27mph, still curious how some folks are hitting high 30s even with incarnates. I'll put up a newer version of the build when I get a chance and am sure it's near final.
  7. While I'm fine with adding more difficulty options, I'm onboard with everyone here who pointed out that they already exist and are rarely used. Purple Patch considerations aside, I wouldn't want the devs working on this as a priority for what's likely very little actual usage.
  8. I can't say as I agree with this, I think defenses/resistances are just fine. Set bonuses to cap def/res are often expensive, and require specific planning and slotting in which you lose out on other aspects. For most of my squishy character, they've pretty much become the norm in how I build and are really where I spend my inf. Losing those would make several characters go to the wayside, and inf become a pretty much useless thing, in turn negating a lot of work because other people didn't like min/maxed builds. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most often what I see here on this topic are complaints that def/res set bonuses trivialize the game (in addition to incarnates). And I believe this is often said by people who do not min/max, for whatever reasons, about other people's characters. Very very rarely do you see people complain that set bonuses made their character too powerful and trivialized content, likely because of the existing option to just not use them. For a lot of folks, they make that character playable at a level they find comfortable. This is the rub for me: I don't believe asking for changes to a game based on personal feelings about other characters powers or bonuses are good. I get that it can be annoying to feel that other characters are more survivable, powerful, or whatever than your character. But it's not as if this were something denied to anyone, IO sets and bonuses are available to anyone and can be earned in a variety of ways. There should not be a push to overhaul a system in place that effects everyone, because of personal feelings whether it's desirable or not to use.
  9. Excellent, thanks Bopper. I think I'll proc that one out then and give it a whirl.
  10. As always, looking through this thread I find something I can really use. I've got a Granite/Rad tank, and while I'm not going the proc monster route, the slotting for Irradiated Ground with procs is too good to pass up. My question is, as I'm going to take Agility for alpha incarnate, how much would that impact the procs in IG?
  11. I've been working on a granite tank here, in the mid 30s now. I'm building mostly for +speed and recharge, some +hp to near cap, and otherwise going for capped defenses/resists, psi resist at 50 or 60. I've got a pretty good build I think, but kind of iffy on a couple of powers. While I do use Spring Attack from leaping for the +recharge and short range tp (and two 7.5 move bonuses), I could also scap that pool and take the Energy Epic instead. That would give me Conserve for long fights, another +recovery, and Energy Torrent which I'd slot the same as Spring Attack but up far more frequently. Im open to any suggestions or things I missed here, haven't played stone in about a decade. 12. Thanks, I think I will take this advice. I've also decided I can't hang with the secondary T9 anymore, it's just too much root and too long a cast time. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way, and I think I can juggle around slots to keep the defense I'm getting from it. I'll be damned if I know what to take instead though.
  13. Well I'm glad I came across this thread. I made one last week or so, and just got her to 50 a few days back and absolutely loving it. With near capped defenses, decent control and of course solid damage, I'm pretty in love with the way this character plays. The only issue Ive had is Bitter Freeze Ray, which is fantastic damage and looks awesome, but I just don't have the time for that long animation. I think as suggested here, I'll drop it in favor of something else. Has anyone else used one of the patron power holds to fill that gap, rather than Positron Cell? Although I'm not sure if it's necessary with a double hold proc in Freeze ray, it might be nice for backup to have another.
  14. Also while Shadow Meld is great, I went the route of sets to get a little more solid defense, and took Tornado from the epics pool. It has high damage, is up very often, and works really well with some -res procs in it to further your shredding ability. I think either route would be a solid way to go, since Shadow Meld is usually taken with the dark snipe too.
  15. Scrapper on this one, without a doubt. I made one about 7 months back on a whim, not knowing they were pretty overpowered. Now I get it though, it clears content like nothing else and if you get used to the click powers you'll rarely if ever go down. I think brutes are a solid choice, but depend on keeping fury at relatively high levels to get the damage bonus. Unfortunately with TW, the momentum shifts may make that a bit harder to sustain, although I haven't tried this. With scrappers that is not an issue, where bio performs great out the the door and keeps it going.
  16. People running rather mundane missions, where team leaders have specific AT requirements. I got turned down by someone running redside patron arcs last night, because he wanted a tanker or healer. I was playing my fresh 50 Plant/Time/Stone controller, with hella control, good heals and buffs. I could have ran that in in my damned sleep.
  17. For sure, I'm not sure I'll need it per se. But being ~40 would make me feel a bit more comfortable.
  18. To note, I had originally planned for Power Mastery, because of PB + Farsight. However I I suspect that PB we will soon not be affecting Farsight's or Fade's defense, I think one of the admins commenting them leaning toward that. Which would leave me eventually scrapping to find that extra defense I'd lose if it went live.
  19. Stone is my favorite of all the controller epics, even though I really like Leviathan too. You get a solid aoe with a little mez, that can be slotted FF +recharge and procs to be beastly. The armor is good for toons not already def capped, and Seismic Smash is an amazing damage/mez itself. Not to mention the heal/hp buff, or even throwing rocks if that's your thing. I'm working on a heavily proc-invested Plant/Time right now, and I'll be taking Stone even if I don't need the armor. WIth existing -res powers and procs, enough +recharge from powers to not need enhancements, I think it will complement and be complemented by Stone far better than most others. Really wish the armor had a bit of res or something else with it though.
  20. This. I've been trying to find combinations, Galvanic Affinity etc. But Galvanism is my number one, maybe in part because I've got an Elec controller named Galvanic Gal I did as a 30s-40s throwback.
  21. Does the AE search function not contain a - or not operator? I don't know as I've ever checked, and it seems like it should.
  22. I haven't made a Dark Melee character since the game came back up. But I had plenty before, a DM/SR scrapper that I loved, as well as a DM/Stone Brute that really needed to exist during IOs, as well as a couple more (maybe a /dark blaster). I loved all of them for different reasons, even if they weren't top notch damage. The utility from dark alone was a great pull, as well as extra -to hit for SR and Granite. Now I think there are more sets that make Dark seem a little more lost, but it's still a fine set and I'm really looking forward to trying it after the slight buffs to it.
  23. Totally agreed. I was trying to find a place for these in a new troller last night, and it's just hard if youre not doing them as 2 pieces. I think Vines I will use 5 pieces of one set, but that's even a hard choice.
  24. Controller Energy Font Proc, even though others don't like it much. The Stalker Hide proc is probably the best single one though, just a fantastic set and proc in it.
  25. Something/dark controller, or /rad would work too. Debuffs, some heals, and rez for when things go really poorly. I know fire/ is king of blasting, but I really am partial to beam/ blasters for single targets, like AVs.
