The xp penalty is not that big of an issue. I would prefer they spend time addressing anything else in Mind Control (the containment issue for Controllers) then spend time on something hacky that would probably require massive testing for little reward.
As someone who has been deeply using Mind toons the pat 6 months, the xp penaltyf or confuse is a drop in the bucket versus other issues in this game. Not worth the time and effort for the hacky suggestions made, especially with this game's terribad spaghetti code.
For the bolded, I would REALLY hope that if we get ways to bump difficulty of every day misisons, then the rewards would go up, not down. Because them going down cause you bumped up the difficulty would be such a foolish feature I'd pretty much avoid those new settings forever. And I'm sure I'm not the only one based on how many folks DON'T use the challenge options on TF today.
Makes more sense. I actually think it's the first one, with them doing in with multiple toons dedicated to crafting COMBINED, with everyone else now paying the new "buy it now price". For me, I refuse to bid creep or wait on something as inconsequential and silly as Yellow salvage when I'm crafting stuff to convert. Even 50K for yellow salvage during that time of crafting to convert is irrelevant to me, when I craft something and can just convert it to something that makes back all that cost and more easily. I'm guessing for others who make inf this way on the market also.
Also pretty much this. Having to constantly open the AH to drop in 2-5 yellow salvage gets . . . tedious.
Personally, I'd need a lot more than 10K to do that. Catalysts or Boosters sure. Those are guaranteed 80K at least.
Yellow salvage . . . nah.
Keep in mind the person could be CRAFTING them, and THEN CONVERTING them into the more expensive IOs like LOTG 7.5 Rech, Numina's Rec/Reg, Miracle +Recovery, the Panacea Proc, etc etc etc.
And this is why the why is needed. You are requesting a power many others already use and like be changed and a set many folks use and liked be changed. The reasoning for the suggestion is for the DEVS not for other readers. The devs won’t go around changing powers willy milly without adequate justification.
Making a suggestion and giving no reasoning as to why it should be done wil lead to it not even being considered. Glad someone else posted the why. In the future I suggest the OP post it themselves if they intend for the devs to take a suggestion seriously.
I have no opinion either way now that they “why” is known. Up to the devs at this point.
This thread should be renamed to “tell me you don’t build or regularly play defenders without telling me you don’t”.
Anyone thinking defenders wouldn’t be ridiculous with this suggestion has no serious experience with them or corrupters.
The game never had a trinity.
Even back in issue 2 when I started playing folks were already figuring out that the tank, healer, dps model was stupid to use in COH, not when Defenders and Controllers existed.
As others have stated, you could form teams where not a single heal or taunt was needed ever.
To me, that's all you need to know.

I haven't run Hami for HOs since live. Once Purples and other advanced IOs became a thing I stopped caring about HOs. Even on the SF/TFs that give them, I always go for the merits.
EDIT: To explain further:
I can make more money off merits by converting them in to enhancement converters. Give me 800 converters (rought 6-7 hami runs) and I can make a billion in a week on the AH using converters. I've done it on multiple chracters multiple times. HOs became pointless to me once merits could be converted into converters. I can just convert, make the inf and just outright buy the HOs I need on the market.
