  1. okay so for those that are gathering the 200 presents for Toy Collector and the gladiator badge during the event you have undoubtedly gained some inspirations in the form of presents but they are supposed to be a mystery as to what they are. Well there are 6 different kinds: 1. Damage booster 2. Stamina booster 3. Defense booster 4. Healing 5. Gift of Experience = 1 hour debt protection 6. Lump of coal They all look the same so you can't tell which is which right away. So here is what you could do 1. Put 6 inspiration storage bins in your base 2. Insert all presents in your inspiration tray into one bin. The bin will sort them by type but not ID them 3. Take one of the sets of presents out of the bin and stick those presents in another bin, repeat until all 6 bins have only ONE type of present in them 4. Now starting with Bin #1, take out one present. Right click it and select detailed info and scroll to the bottom and with 4 of the presents it will tell you what it does. 5. Put it back into the storage bin and then for future reference put one regular inspiration in the bin that corresponds to the type of presents in the bin. For example: presents that offer damage boost, insert a red inspiration into the bin so that you know what is in there. Repeat this for the stamina, heal and defense presents. 6. Now for the 2 types that do not show data: if you put them all in one bin they will show as two stacks, so make sure that each type is in its own bin. Now open one from one of the bins and see what it is: if it is the gift of experience, I insert a break free into the bin to mark it. Break frees help prevent debt by waking you up from stuns/holds/sleeps so they technically correspond to the Gift of Experience. Once this is done then you know which bin has the lumps of coal in it and you do not need to mark it with an inspiration. Once you are done sending your alts around to gather presents you can then easily figure out which bins to dump them into, then when all is done you can sell the lump of coal presents on the market. The market has all 6 presents listed but doesn't seem to indicate which is which so some people are buying lumps of coal. There are no presents that act as orange inspirations, accuracy inspirations or awakens.
  2. My main badge hunter right now is my blaster, Voltor My casual hunters include a Mastermind, tank, pb and ws with more to come at a later date. The heal badges, use the incarnate Rebirth Destiny to get heal badges or the old arena method still works too. badges for damage received can be gained the slow way or by farming. Same with damage inflicted upon enemies. Money badges: run farms Badges that may take a few runs to get: incarnate trials and the no Defeat Master badges in the TF's There really is no "best" AT to get all the badges with. Any AT can do it, but some power set combos may make it easier then others. The only badges that you need to jump on immediately to get are the Holiday events and special anniversary badges

    Weird badge convo

There was never such a badge for TF's back in the first era of CoH. My badge hunters (bunters?) had them all prior to shut down, except Bug Hunter of course. I have heard no mention of a such a badge having been added to the game now.
  4. I found no presents in Night Ward or Recluse Victory. Glitch? As to which zone is best for presents, well mileage will vary. For example: I do not recommend Atlas Park as that zone can be a bit crowded. Kings Row? Better have the ability to fly as some presents are atop tall buildings. Skyway? Forget it. Many levels, ramps, buildings, etc., and its a big zone. A winter lord team I joined in that zone took 15 minutes to find him after we received the alert that he had appeared. PvP zones make it more challenging. Also while there are those that like Super Speed as their travel power, remember you cannot run up walls and buildings. Super Jump can be good, but I prefer Flight + afterburner. As to the Winter Lord: every zone I mapped, I mapped it solo. Opening presents solo without killing snowmen did not trigger a WL spawn for me. Opening presents + killing snowmen until the badge for defeating 100 of them dinged while solo did not trigger a WL spawn. Any time I spawned him was on a full team opening presents until a naughty present triggered him. If there is another way to make WL spawn, great. Just stating how it was for me.
  5. Here is the holiday map for First Ward. As with the previous maps, I have endeavored to be as accurate as possible with the placing of the gift icons. But as always, turn game music volume to zero and sound FX up to at least 30 and use your ears and eyes to find them. Also while you are there, go get the map badges and plaques., and avoid the Seed of Hamidon
  6. Here is the holiday map for Neutropolis. As with the previous maps, I have endeavored to be as accurate as possible with the placing of the gift icons. But as always, turn game music volume to zero and sound FX up to at least 30 and use your ears and eyes to find them. Also while you are there, go get the map badges and plaques.
  7. Here is the holiday map for Imperial City. As with the previous maps, I have endeavored to be as accurate as possible with the placing of the gift icons. But as always, turn game music volume to zero and sound FX up to at least 30 and use your ears and eyes to find them. Also while you are there, go get the map badges and plaques.
  8. Well I spent some time in Nova Praetoria tonight and have constructed some maps for those that want to use Praetoria to get presents. As with the previous maps, I have endeavored to be as accurate as possible with the placing of the gift icons. But as always, turn game music volume to zero and sound FX up to at least 30 and use your ears and eyes to find them. Also while you are there, go get the map badges and plaques.
  9. While sending an alt through Khalisti Wharf I found two present locations and added them to the map, along with a second Easter egg. The two white squares in the south east area of the map are tiny Easter egg pictures I used to mark the locations. Also adjusted the icon for a present in the northwest area. Also added yellow markers for plaques. clicking the plaques does nothing.
  10. Yes, just get another duplicating gift and pass it on before it expires
  11. Want to find presents in Khalisti Wharf? Here are all the ones I found. As always I tried to be precise but just go to the icon on the map and listen for the glowie if you don't see it.
  12. Here is a shiny warburg map I have made, it is the vidiotmap of all 8 map badges, PLUS.......the holiday presents that I could locate. WARNING, WILL ROBINSON! DANGER, DANGER! The BLUE icons are for the presents that are IN the tunnels.....beware!
  13. Perhaps this will be of help: a map for the explore badges and holiday presents..... I strove to be as precise as I could with the placing of the icons. Head for an icon and look around and listen for the sound of the glowie.....
  14. Meant to ask has the vidiot maps team made any maps for any of the PVP zones for Holiday present hunting? Well if not then I am pleased to say that an old project of mine that I didn't get to finish thanks to NCSoft is done. Back in the first era of CoH, presents DID spawn in the PvP zones. I was plotting out locations and creating maps when NCSoft's announcements made me stop. Well now, they are complete. Presents do spawn in Bloody Bay, Siren's Call and Warburg, but they do NOT spawn in Recluse Victory. I turbo flew with after burner through Recluse Victory to refresh my memory and saw no presents in that zone at all. Now....why hunt for presents to get Toy Collector badge in a PvP zone? Simple answer: Why not? Think of it as more challenging and fun then being a level 50 cruising through Kings Row or Mercy Island. Better answer: don't forget there is a badge for spending an hour in each of the pvp zones, BB, Siren, WB and RV. BB/Siren/WB have plaques for redside history badges. Also each zone was expanded to have 8 map badges, plus accolade for all 8 and 5 merits. Also there are other badges to get such as Gunner for taking down a firebase and getting your shivan shard after you visit the meteors of Bloody Bay. See if you can patrol in BB, Siren and WB for a temp power from each zone. Also if you do a mission in the zone you just might get a badge also.... Also if there is one thing in this game that needs some stimulation.....it IS PvP. Ever since issue 13 changed PvP and drove off many PvP players, PVP has been almost extinct, imo. So without further ado, I give a shout out to Vidiotmaps for making the new maps with all 8 exploration badges, and I now present to you maps for Bloody Bay, Siren, and Warburg that also show icons were you should find a present. First up: Bloody Bay Then Siren's Call, also some of the icons represent a present that is atop a building And finally, Warburg. WARNING, WILL ROBINSON! DANGER, DANGER! The BLUE present icons represent presents that are IN THE TUNNELS. The Green colored ones are on the surface. Whether you choose to enter the tunnels......I leave that to you. Disclaimer: I have done what I can to as precise as possible with the placing of the gift icons. As always, when gift hunting in any zone, you should go into game options and turn the music volume to zero and the sound FX up.....then head for the icon area and listen for the sound of the glowie......
  15. Gift Getter you receive when you get the Duplicating Gift. Once you have it, you have 10 minutes before it expires to pass it on to someone that doesn't have it. Then you get the gift which keeps giving badge.
  16. Want some maps to help locate the presents? https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Winter_Event/Presents
  17. I was there on the Last Day. I was recording for preservation purposes and one day upload to youtube everything I possibly could about the game that we all love so dearly. Sadly I couldn't record everything before shutdown, but the return has enabled me to correct that. In the final hour, recording stopped and I was in Atlas on Virtue and got to experience the Atlas 33 effect as I call it thanks to the zone overloading as other servers went dark one by one and everyone started jumping into Virtue. Eventually my connection to Atlas on Virtue literally imploded before shutdown and though Virtue was still up, I logged into Exalted server and spent the final minutes on one of the floating islands in Ouroborus and waited until the final disconnect screen appeared. Then I hopped into the Test Server one last time and it went down a few minutes later. Next day I awoke and out of habit tried to launch the game, only to get the message from the NCSoft launcher that the game was done. My characters were all backed up, all my old guides and notes were saved with them in the hopes we could get our City back. Tried other MMO's, but they didn't have the magic that this one does. The other hero MMO's are all lacking, and while I monitored the "spiritual successors", too much time was passing and my interest was waning. Then came Icon and Paragon Chat then finally the game itself. Ran into some old gaming pals, most of whom still play, one appears to have vanished. Alts have been rebuilt, main badge hunter is at max capacity at the moment. Though my life priorities have shifted over the years and I have other things that I need/want to do it is good to back. Also the more we play the more we stick it to NCSoft. Can't argue with that. 🙂
  18. This day, Nov 30th 2012 a wave of darkness swept over Paragon City, Rogue Isles and Praetoria. Many stood against the darkness, but it overwhelmed us all. Now the darkness is gone and light has returned. So on this day that marks the 7th year of the shutdown, I want to say Thank You to the mystery person that saved the game all those years ago and a thank you to the admins and staff of Homecoming. LONG LIVE CITY OF HEROES!

    Ski Slope Badges

Hmm interesting idea for a vid for my youtube channel.......
  20. Now at 1525 total. Four Spring event badges to get and the Nemesis Invasion event badge.
  21. Good old TopDoc, one of the best players I remember from the old days. 🙂 Also Torchbearer is not my main toon's home.
  22. Well looked like I was the first to get back into the server this morning and after seeing the event was on, started grinding the Winter badges. All done. I now stand at 1525 badges with only 5 badges awaiting for completion. Am I the first to finish the event?

    Ski Slope Badges

Yeah back in the day an alt of mine had super speed and easily got them, but that isn't my favorite travel power by far and none of my alts have it now, even the rebuilt one that did have it back then. Basically though, with just the buff station even a Level 1 should be able to do the ski slopes.
  24. Frozen Fury: defeat the Winter Lord. Gather team of 6+, open presents, defeat any winter horde that spawn from naughty present. Hope for him to spawn, search map and defeat him Cold as Ice: defeat Lady Winter in the mission from Father Time in Ski Chalet. Note: only need to defeat her once, but the mission can be farmed for winter horde and tuatha defeat badges. Running mission again lets you choose another reward from the reward table. Run up to 5 times for all rewards. Pro tip: you may want to run this mission 5 times for the rewards rather then Baby New Year as Baby New year is a rescue/escort mission. Update: door sitters will get this badge even if they do not engage her in battle. Cold Warrior: defeat 100 winter horde Lord/lady of Winter: form a league of 12+ and LFG queue into Lord of Winter event. Fight the Lord of Winter, defeat his guardian 3 times then defeat him. Edit: must be level 10 minimum to participate in this. Crystalized: win either baby new year mission or lady winter mission and select this reward. Can also be purchased with candy canes Frosty: see Crystalized Joyful: see Crystalized Miraculous: see Crystalized Gift Getter: receive a duplicating gift from another player if you don't already have it, alternatively go present hunting. Gift Giver: give the duplicating gift to another player if they don't already have it Toy Collector: collect 200 presents, note: clicking a present only counts for you and not teammates. You will also receive Winter Horde Gladiator badge. Protip: do NOT camp a spawn point for a present, it will not respawn. defeating any winter horde will help it respawn faster, but they will eventually despawn on their own. Protip 2: you do need a team clicking presents and defeating the snowmen to spawn Winter Lord, but once that is done you are better off soloing this badge as teammates clicking presents does not count towards your badge. Also this is the only way to get the Winter Horde gladiator badge so if you are a badge hunter looking for them all, you have to get this one. Longbow reservist/Jetsetter, Cold Front, Gifted, Frostbitten and Festive: these are the old login badges from past winter events. Obtain them via redeeming candy canes at the vendor in the Ski Chalet. Toothbreaker: defeat Snaptooth 5 times. He is the boss guarding baby New Year. So you need to do that mission 5 times. Pro tip: you have to escort baby New year out of the mission....which means 5 missions to get this badge. OR: you can defeat Snaptooth, log out to reset the mission and defeat him 4 more times. You also get Red Cap gladiator badge. I find the mission reset preferable to escorting Baby New Year out then speak to Father Time again and again again. Running the Lady Winter mission multiple times for all rewards is better. Also if you somehow do not get Toothbreaker during Winter Event you can also get it in Spring Event. Update: Lowbie doorsitters can get Toothbreaker even if they are not actively fighting Snaptooth. Pro tip: in the Baby New Year mission: to get the key you only need to defeat the Winter Horde Group that has the Winter Guard in it
