  1. While I'm sad to see the best Archetype out there, my Zoomer, lose, the last round was very close on all fronts. Get out there and vote!
  2. Battle 1: Protector v Defiler Protector Feasibility: 6 - The creation and balancing of secondary sets would take some effort. Niche: 5 - I can see this as sufficiently different from a scrapper, but not sure if I would choose it over a scrapper. Interest: 3 - Might as well make a scrapper. Defiler (19.06.09.22.12.59) Feasibility: 5 - The secondary sets may take a while to fine-tune and I see balance issues as taking some time. Niche: 6 - This is definitely in the DPS camp, but with a different approach to other DPSers out there. Interest: 5 - I think this is the best frontline support proposal I've read through. Winner: Defiler
  3. Battle 1: Captain v The Duo Captain (19.05.27.02.57.28) Feasibility: 6 - While easy to port powersets, I see balance issues as taking some time (the inherent seems inherently unbalancing). Niche: 4 - It seems to be competing for a niche with Defender. Interest: 3 - It would be fun, but I do not really see why I would choose it over a Defender. The Duo (19.06.07.16.09.36) Feasibility: 6 - The playtesting that has already been done by the proposer has doubled the score here. Niche: 6 - This is definitely in the DPS camp, but with a different approach to other DPSers out there. Interest: 8 - I would definitely make at least one of these. Winner: The Duo

  5. Welcome to The Great Archetype Concept Battle. This is a set of polls wherein proposed Archetypes go head to head to determine community interest. The Polls will be open for approximately one week and the brackets will be updated weekly. The goal is to come up with a single proposed archetype concept that the whole community can rally behind. Voting should be based, in principle, on Feasibility, Niche, & Interest. Feasibility: 1 (difficult to balance, requires a large amount of set development, etc.) to 10 (could be in-game tomorrow) Niche: 1 (is already addressed by another AT) to 10 (there is a hole in the game that this would fill) Interest: 1 (I wouldn't play it) to 10 (I plan to make at least 20 alts in this AT) Your Contestants! Battle 1: Protector v Defiler Protector (19.07.25.00.33.xx) Melee/{Support/Armor} Honor & Glory: Glory builds stacks through melee attacks and dissipates through inaction or use of buffs, it grants increased buff efficacy. Protectors juggle between support and dps providing teammates with much-needed support while also helping out with clearing the field. Defiler (19.06.09.22.12.59) Melee/{Support/Armor} [placeholder]: A defensive bonus which decreases with teammates paired with a secondary effect bonus which increases with teammates. Defilers are focused on debuffing enemies and buffing allies from the fray.

Captains are frontline fighters that support their teammates from within the fray. The Duo (19.06.07.16.09.36) Assault/{Pet/Armor/Support} Partnership: +DMG +ToHit in proximity to pet. Share power effects with pet. The Duo is an AT that is focused on working strongly with a single pet partner and balancing the burden with them.

Just under two and a half hours left for voting in the Great Archetype Concept Battle, and before we go to the semi-finals, I would like to take a look at the breakdown of the quarterfinal ATs... Manipulation/Assault Melee/Support Assault/Armor Assault/{Pet/Armor/Support} Melee/{Support/Armor} Assault/{Armor/Control} Support/Melee Melee/{Support/Armor} Just taking a look at that, every set is either melee or assault (half and half) and six of the eight are paired with a type of support. What I'm reading is that the type of new AT people would want would be either a Melee or Assault set paired with a Support-like secondary. Five of the proposals have armor mixed into the secondary (only one is pure armor). In other words, the voting thus far suggests that the community would like an assault or melee primary with a mixed secondary that is some combination of armor and support (with either control or pets mixed in). While I am going to continue the Great Archetype battle, I thought that this would be a good time to start putting together a community-designed Archetype proposal. I would like to start off with a short discussion of the Powerset composition that we think would be the best. The goal here is to aim towards a consensus, not to make personal proposals or tear eachother down. Our goal is to come together as a community and talk about what would be the best new Archetype to expand into City of Heroes.

My take is that this is likely possible (I'd like to see it tested in Illusion Control first as that would allow them to test it without doing all the sets at once - while also being unlikely to be abused). However, I do not see this as being ethically implementable until there is a manner through which we can have paid Mods that can look into complaints about people abusing this customization. I am hoping the NCSoft negotiations go well to make this possible.

  10. For some Controllers these attacks are more powerful than powerset options. And slotting for an extra 2.5 AoE and Melee seems reasonable. I'd have to see the full build to know if it was a waste.

  14. I don't think it is much worse than the position Regen is right now. It is workable, but definitely requires a much different mindset than defense/resist sets. It seems great early game, poor mid game, a beast late game on a team that doesn't mind you taking a break every fourth spawn...
  15. As Cipher noted, there are no powers with 0% out there. As such no power is universally seen as useless. I tend to agree with you about ST taunts. However, intangibles are a niche isolation mechanism that works well in solo builds. If there were more self/ally-intangibility powers it could be used as a way to bifurcate the battlefield. Set up your Stalker to solo the boss while Blasters deal with minions (for example). Rather than removal or redevelopment, it may simply need more development...
  16. @SlimPickens This is an Electricity Control build we are talking about. That means that going for Agility allows you to Drain Endurance that much faster. For /Psi builds that are not Elec / I would tend to agree with you, but not for Elec/.
  17. A quick question, in the powerset combo choices, there were several powerset combos with zero level 50s omitted. Were there any powers with 0% selected that were omitted?
  18. You may want to check my compilation thread (in my signature) to see what other people have done. It may help you sort out your ideal. I'll likely add this suggestion to the thread in a couple of days.
  19. The choices they made make sense. If they optimized the sets they would have been too good... It actually gets you defenses at a similar rate to Super Reflexes. Also, there has been some suggestions to remove Time Crawl and replace it with Temporal Mending. Chrono Shift requires about 230% Global Recharge to get the perma-recharge boost. But the 50% recharge boost will help you get there. That being said, I think the set looks fine as it is. Having two key powers (Recovery Aura and Regeneration Aura) 1000s for a 90s effect is a bit insane. Then the Tier 9 Fortitude Aura is at 240s, barely permable. I understand these three powers are insanely powerful, but having 90s on 30s off (if you have over 200% recharge with the 45% bonus from your Alpha)... it seems a bit annoying. That being said, all of those are PBAoEs, meaning your entire team will have a bonus of 400% Recovery and 1000% Regeneration for 90s and 17-18% Defense for 120s... So your entire team will be nearly invincible for that period of time... The ups and downs of playing that set will likely be quite annoying... That being said, I think this is possibly the best team set for Guardians because of the three powerful PBAoE team buffs.
  20. If or when Rebirth makes it open source, this will be an interesting discussion to continue. Until then, put a bird on it...
  21. On Star Wars Galaxies they allowed people to respec in a manner you are suggesting, to a degree. What happened was you had a dancehall filled with AFK dancers grinding XP to respec to jedi, commando, or spy. If this were allowed, you could grind a scrapper to get that level 50 controller you've always wanted but never had the patience to grind... I'm not opposed to it, but there will be a lot of pushback against this.
  22. Alright, I am still working on this build, so be gentle... (I'm looking at Ignite->Buckshot->Flamethrower->Buckshot as my core attack sequence, I will probably drop sleep grenade and try to find some sots for LRM rifle. Soul Drain is my primary build-up, and Dark likes to get up close and personal, so I may need to find some more defense in there somewhere. But, it's a start).
  23. Someone who is doing something poorly may be on their learning curve. Someone who is doing nothing is just stealing credit for stuff they didn't do.
  24. I've been working on an Assault Rifle/Darkness build (0 lvl 50s), would that fit this thread?
  25. I was thinking about the Illusion Control Pets and wondering if we could get some model customization. The current default for Phantom Army is that you get a random selection of generic female, male, or large models. My proposal is that you can customize the power to allow for one of each, all female, all male, all large, or random. Also, if Phantasm had the same option to be a female, male, or large model. I am not sure how much coding it would require, but it would be a nice option for customization.
