  1. Actually I have played a few PVP centric games in my time. There are decent players in all of them. And yes, PVP is mostly dead here in part due to the players themselves. It is not the sole reason for it, but a reason nonetheless.
  2. Honestly, when I see others using disrespectful terms like "carebear" to describe others who show a level of common courtesy toward a fellow gamer, I am reminded why PVP zones are dead most all of the time.
  3. I think that says it all in this case and I agree. No thank you.
  4. To be fair, there is still some albeit very limited risk there.
  5. Thanks. I had not gotten that far into the whole thread yet. I had thought it sounded a bit weird in the other post.
  6. See here Asking other players to stop attacking you if you are badging and they persist seems to fall within the definition provided in that post.
  7. Normally I completely agree. However, according to what the GM posted in another thread, if you do ask to be left alone and others are still bothering you by attacking you, it is a reportable offense.
  8. I absolutely love my Kinetic Melee/Ninjitsu scrapper.
  9. I understand that, but I can imagine there are people out there who will argue it is bad form and teaching the wrong things. The way many female characters are presented in the game is very highly objectified and sexualized as well. On one hand, you are saying that is ok because it is pretend while on the other saying it is not ok even though it is being done pretend in a pretend world.
  10. They already are doing this. If you create any character with a variation of COVID in the name, it will get reported and they will change it.
  11. Apologies for asking as I genuinely am not looking to offend anyone, but I do find this curious. Where exactly does one draw the line here? If I am on a male character and fighting female NPCs, does that not also send the wrong message that it is ok to physically beat women? Also, I am fairly certain some of the things male NPCs say to female NPCs in Pocket D and the Rogue Isles would be considered offensive and sexist today. Should those things get removed too since they are sending the wrong message?
  12. This is a fair point however it also does not mean that programming an auto post to the AH feature is an inordinate amount of work either. Were it me, rather than making these simply ignore salvage or recipes, I would make it a simple slash command that any drops get automatically posted to the exchange for a price set by the player. So for example if you wanted to not receive white salvage drops, just do something like this; /ignore_common_salvage 100 That would auto post any white salvage received via drops to the AH for 100 inf without the player needing to do anything. Their inventory remains clear of common salvage and the AH keeps the player generated supply.
  13. I totally agree. I was just thinking in situations like what I posted, is this really something we want to be reporting people over? I personally will not, but I imagine there are those who will jump at the chance.
  14. Just out of curiosity here, I am sure everyone can agree that people typing offensive things into chat is actionable and should get reported. That aside, where do you draw the line with regard to the rest? Everyone has something other people do in game that annoys them. As an example, I generally dislike people doing drive by buffs like speed boost or healing flames and such outside of missions or if I am standing around chatting with friends. Should I be asking them to stop doing that and if they keep doing it, report them? How do you expect the GM to handle that kind of thing? Should GMs issue warnings and start banning accounts? I am just curious where the line gets drawn.
  15. Not to be rude but I had thought current political figures were against the CoC?
  16. There seems to be a simple solution here. Have the slap and smack emotes removed from the game.
  17. ^ This would be my preference as well.
  18. Not saying I disagree, just curious how you would expect a GM to verify emote spamming? Offensive chat can be found in chat logs.
  19. Not against the idea as giving players more tools to do this kind of filtering themselves is a good thing in my opinion. However, in your example, you will have to start adding quite a lot of variations of the phrase unless you are looking to do some kind of LIKE operator, which in of itself can be problematic. I can only speak for myself here, but if someone is typing stuff I do not agree with, I will just put the person on ignore and move along.
  20. Someone using crude language I can totally understand and should get reported. Just using the smack emote is harassment though? I personally do not see it. Were it me, I would /e slap them back.
  21. Actually, it is very similar. I can believe someone getting annoyed over another player using an emote, but actually reporting them over it as if it is an actionable offense?
  22. This reminds me of the epic threads over on the STO forums about Disco balls causing a player avatar to dance. People were actually equating that to real life physical assault. True story.
  23. Reported for what exactly?
  24. That is completely fine and there is nothing wrong with getting annoyed. I personally do not mind it as I understand there are a lot of people out there leveling up alts this way.
