  1. Waaay ahead of you.
  2. I have a D&D character I play quite often. His family name is McGurd. His given name is Urr. There have been two others with his name before him. He was recently knighted. He is Ser Urr McGurd the Third.
  3. It's tempting to just... make a cheerleader here, but "cheerleader-themed superhero" is a little more interesting. I started with shirts too, but wasn't liking anything I came up with, so I dropped them in favor of a tights pattern that suggests a traditional cheerleading sweater with long sleeves but a "bare" midriff. I extended that logic to the lower body and tried to find a boots pattern that looked a bit like knee-high socks because I associate that look with cheerleaders but didn't want to literally put her in knee-high socks. And before anyone asks -- or tries to check without making it obvious you're checking even though it's totally obvious to everyone that you're checking -- YES, she has a Bikini tights pattern under the skirt. Not knowing her school colors, I went with blue and white, not because they were my school colors (though they were), but because if she's cheering for heroes, those are the "hero team colors" in CoH. Statesman chest logo for similar reasons. It's very important to smile. I started with pigtails but ended up with Feisty, either way it should keep clipping issues with the cape to a minimum. 4. Opportunities to use two costume pieces here that I'm a big fan of but that don't fit a lot of concepts, the Oni Guard and Yakuza top with tattoos! So obviously they're both in here. I played with the idea of just putting her in business attire (including a pencil skirt) from the waist down, like she'd just take her jacket off, put the mask on and go, but it wasn't working. Presumably she has a bathroom in her office she can use to change. It's unfortunate that the Oni Guard isn't a standalone piece, but we'll work with what we have. I was going for something that looks like a mask that slips over the top of the head rather than a true helmet-helmet, hopefully I pulled that off. Death goggles matched with the creepy round eyes you see in a lot of depictions of oni, but sadly it meant I had to choose between that and horns, thus the maedate crest. There's a gap between the top and bottom halves of her mask which I camouflaged with a colored face pattern underneath. I removed it before taking screenshots for visibility, but in the costume file there's an aura on the eyes as well -- you didn't mention any supernatural aspects to the character (which is also why I didn't give her the awesome glowing version of the Yakuza top), but I wanted something to draw a viewer's eye toward her face, make the mask the visual "centerpiece" of the whole design. Hope this helps! likeadragon.costume
  5. Welcome to the thread! I had a lot of similar ideas to @Shocktacular, especially re: blood. Great minds and all that, I guess! This actually used my own shark-based character as a starting point, but I made some changes to nudge it in a more sinister and threatening and generally bloody direction (and made it female, obviously). The Lace cape is meant to suggest a fishing net or maybe the rigging of a ship she destroyed; I'm not sure it quite accomplishes that but I thought it was cool anyway and it should look neat trailing behind her during melee attack animations. I added some blue because, well, I thought it needed more color and sharks live in the water. There's also a Wake aura in the costume file (though that doesn't show in the editor) for the same reason. I'll take a stab at your other request in a separate reply. smileyousonofa.costume
  6. Honestly, I'd be thrilled just to have Walk do a "suppress all" like the hoverboard and void skiff and such do nowadays instead of the current "detoggle all."
  7. I agree that the current look is already pretty solid, but I think there's potential for something more, too. Here's my try at it. I went a little witchier(?), hopefully not too witchy. I did lighten up the purple a bit, but I also set that lighter shade against more black -- hopefully the contrast helps the areas of bright color "pop" a little better. Dark on dark, even the slightly-lighter-dark I put in there, can look muddy without some kind of strong accent color, and I've always found a glowing neon green to be a good balance with a black/purple/gold combo (plus it looks all magic-y!), thus the belt and aura. It's tempting with a "dark" character to stay away from bright colors and light sources in the design, but I think it adds something by making the dark parts feel darker by comparison. witchywoman.costume
  8. I went slightly off in my own direction -- brown and orange is hard to work with alone, so I wanted to brighten things up a little, thus the red. I get that it's not technically accurate to the actual color of lava/magma, but hey, ice isn't blue in real life either, all the cold-themed heroes wear it anyway because it suggests things even if they aren't literally true. I liked the way the tattoos on the original design played with the Barbarian Ring, so I kept it, but changed the color of the ring to look more like obsidian. Glowing "lava" on (under?) her skin is a fun theme, so the Bioluminescence face adds a bit to that while also making the general head area more interesting, and keeping the same hairstyle you already had hides the monstrous-looking scaly parts in the back. The big flaming back piece helps her look more powerful and impressive, I think. Rainbow path aura because, well, Hawaii I guess. kilauea.costume
  9. I've personally been begging for double auras forever: "We can have auras now at level 30, how about a second one at 40?" "Hey, you know what would be a really cool 'Incarnates only' costume option to unlock at that merit vendor in Ouroboros? A second aura!" "What the -- !? why does evil Positron in the Keyes trial get two auras and we don't?" "The game's going free-to-play and will be supported by microtransactions? I'd definitely pay extra to unlock the ability to have two auras!" Or at least the option to have different combat/non-combat auras (not just "on in combat, off out of combat" so much as "fire in combat, smoke out of combat" or "fire in combat only, smoke all the time" or something). I can fake the latter to a point with multiple costume slots, but the ability to have two different auras at once is one of those things I've always hoped for when an update/issue was announced but never actually expect to get. Being able to combine a normal aura with a path aura nowadays is nice, but it's only like... halfway to what I really want.
  10. Yeah, it's possible, but you have to trick the costume editor. In case anyone is wondering, you have to start with a regular head-head, pick the head/eyes/hair/whatever aura you want to use, then change the head to the Think Tank -- certain head options lock you out from choosing certain "incompatible" aura options, but if those aura options are already selected, changing the head doesn't de-select them. (The trick works with headless/floating heads, too!)
  11. Wow, thank you! I mean, I'm pretty happy with the design myself, but that's some high praise!
  12. This one is psome of my best work.
  13. Allow me to introduce Heavy Machinery, the crimefighting construction equipment! I don't know if a non-granite Stone/Titan tank is going to be any good in the long run, but it's been fun so far. Maybe I'll just need to put some work into a good build. Right? Right? A good build? Get it? Of course you do, you're a smart kid and it's hilarious.
  14. I believe you're looking for this thread, citizen. The one you're in now is for players to request help from other players in designing their costumes.
  15. Hopefully this is suitably far removed from CoT. I don't know what the big gold gauntlet is for, I just thought it looked magic-y. druid.costume
  16. I like the original suggestion; it's not a problem I've ever encountered personally, but I can see where it could be an issue and it's frankly one of those "I had no idea it didn't already work that way, why on Earth does it not?" things. Problem with this is that it could lead to one person bringing everything to a halt indefinitely. Sure, most of the time people just need an extra thirty seconds or so to buy insps, but if three people are ready to go and one goes AFK for fifteen minutes? Or worse, purposely decides to grief by just refusing to enter? And what happens if someone's client crashes or they're otherwise disconnected from the server while in the lobby? Neither method is perfect, but short of a second "event is ready, here's a big green button and a 60-second countdown" pop-up (which might not even function if you're already on a trial map and would probably require some from-the-ground-up coding to make that happen), having things start when the first player enters the arena forces things to keep moving and prevents one player from intentionally or unintentionally holding the entire event hostage. Like any tough boss fight, Time Gladiator requires patience and coordination from all team members. Success really comes down to communication, leadership and respect -- if you need a moment, tell the group; if you're the leader and a player says they need a moment, tell the rest of the group to wait; if a teammate tells you they need a moment, wait until they're ready. Unfortunately, Leeroy Jenkinses(eseses) exists in all MMOs and there isn't a ton that can realistically be done about it.
  17. Francis is amazing. Like if Arnim Zola were a TOTAL BADASS.
  18. It looks like you found your sonic mutant, so I thought I'd take a stab at "darkness powered villain." darkpower.costume
  19. Old people SG? This looks like a job for The Grammazon!
  20. Infernal technology? This sounds like an excuse to use that Cosmic Corsair skull backpack that's so cool, but so ungodly hard to actually integrate into a design in a way that makes any amount of sense! So yeah... glowing tech-skulls and pointy bits. Influenced by the Doom franchise, and to a point, Hellraiser, though most of the latter ended up on the cutting room floor. I tried to make the "person" wearing the tech into something you might see at a distance and say, "hey, that doesn't look so bad..." and then she comes closer and you're like "OH GAWD THAT'S AWFUL GET IT AWAY GET IT AWAY GET IT AWAY." I am only about 60% sure the belt needs to be there, and roughly as confident that a tail doesn't. hellectric.costume
  21. People are overthinking (or maybe wishful-thinking?) it. The show was very careful to establish in that same episode that and that She HAD to because He's not really he's basically just
  22. I agree, very clever! It also reminded me to share this guy: The Assaultin' Battery!
  23. "I designed this costume, but the character needs a name.""I want to play a [primary]/[secondary] [Archetype] but can't think of a good name, can someone help me out?""I had [name] on live but it's taken on Excelsior, does anyone have a decent alternative they're not using?" A discussion in the "Name Release" thread prompted the creation of this one. Think of it as a sort of a companion to that thread -- this is the place to ask for help naming a character on Excelsior. Maybe you're looking for something specific, maybe the one you wanted is taken and you're looking for something else, maybe you're just drawing a blank... the fabled "best MMO community in the world" might be able to help. Obviously, don't suggest names you know to be taken. Ideally, check anything you're going to suggest in-game before posting if you're able. If you're asking someone to give up something they're already in possession of, maybe offering a trade would be nice, too (by which I mean, "offer up another name from your roster," not "offer to pay them a ton of Inf" and especially not "offer them some sort of real-world reward for it" since that's likely a violation of the Terms of Service). I'll start: I designed this character during the Blip, when all we had was the costume editor, and ever since the game came back I've wanted to do something with her. Obviously she's got Shield Defense, but her AT and accompanying attack powerset are kind of up in the air (it's Street Justice right now, but she could easily be remade to use Martial Arts or Psionic Melee or a weapon or who-knows-what). I haven't settled on a background or origin story, though I've always sort of leaned toward "cop from the future" or something similar. At the moment I'm squatting on the name "Vigilant" for her, which I recognize is objectively a very good name, but for whatever reason it isn't clicking with me. I'd be willing to trade that name for a replacement -- something that references the shield and/or protection indirectly would be most appreciated (you know, Guardian or Sentinelle or something), but I'm willing to consider others, especially if they suggest a particular attack power to go with the shield.
  24. "I designed this costume, but the character needs a name." "I want to play a [primary]/[secondary] [Archetype] but can't think of a good name, can someone help me out?" "I had [name] on live but it's taken on Excelsior, does anyone know if the person who has it is actually using it?" Yep, I'm all for it.
  25. Awesome, glad I could help!
