  1. Thank you Scrap. You are far more articulate than I and explained things far better. I am blunt and to the point and am a numbers person and not a people person. Because of that I tend to come off as harsh or condescending but in my head I am just stating what I believe to be true without judgement on anyone else.   2. KO blow has a longer range than most melee attacks and footstomp has a larger radius than most melee AoE attacks.
  3. This is my stupidly expensive spine/fire farm build. No it cannot do +4x8 S/L farms without inspirations but with team buffs or with a small luck it can get by just fine.   4. Now that I am home I can see the numbers and that build is unplayable. Your end drain vs recovery is just simply too high to allow you to attack regularly and consume will not be up enough to fill the gaps. Also there are 3 powers that are required in any /Fire brute. Blazing Aura, Fiery Embrace and Burn. Burn is not something that I would ever skip on a /Fire, at least on a melee. Physical Perfection is quite literally half Health and half Stamina. The numbers are half of each power so those slots would be put to better use in Stamina and used as more of a mule for an extra unique. Personally I also tend to not skimp on my attacks for the sake of better defense so you will almost never see an extra 3 slots dedicated to a power I will never use like boxing/kick/brawl in my builds. Sticking mostly with the powers you picked but dropping Impale for Burn I have something that is a bit more playable and durable. It can be made to be even more durable but that would take away a significant portion of the offense. At that point you may as well just play a tank instead IMHO.   5. What is your secondary? I went Fire/Dark/Fire and will eventually have soft capped all defenses both typed and positional (except psi at 39.6%), capped S/L resists, 30%+ to Energy/Psi 40%+ to Negative/Cold and 60%+ to fire with only accounting for Agility Incarnate slotted. In a pinch when hit with defense debuffs I have Darkest Night to drop accuracy even more. Then you have Soul Absorption which takes care of the endurance issues for Hot Feet and the other toggles. It does not have the damage of /Kin but it is far more durable. Honestly /Dark for troller is insanely durable once you get enough recharge and I am surprised it has not been hit with a nerf bat. Maybe the devs just didn't have the time to get to it before the doors were suddenly closed.
  6. Well if you don't care about speed then you can do something like this. If you just want to stay away from Rad or Spines and want just something /fire to farm with I would stay away from the weapon sets with the exception of TW or Staff as they all have terrible range on their AoE attacks.   7. I'm with Scrapulous. The side effects of high fire defense sets I went with on my farmer was that it ended up with decent s/l defense and resists as well. (Similar to the numbers above). It can handle most anything on teams and because I set it up with a ton of recharge, I can heal half my health ever 11 seconds or so. Just have to be careful around psi damage.

  9. Ok so what about fire imps? I can 6 slot 1 or the other. Would they be better off with just accuracy or should I try to find some middle ground on both?
  10. Track several thousand attacks and then if you are way off the expectations of hitting 95% of the time then you have a case to blame the RNG as faulty. You can even just track all the mob rolls as well and they should be all fairly even with 10k rolls or more.
  11. True however those sets that allow you to get 45% plus to all positional defense rarely get past 75% resists unless you specifically build for it.
  12. Wow did some playing with sets and other than HP and mez protection you can get Scrapper/Brute numbers for resists and defense. Have not played a troller so this could be terrible to play but seems ok based on numbers. Maneuvers is there for a mule for LotG more than added defense but I'm sure with enough targets for Soul Absorption it could be run to get over the AoE soft cap without issues. Perma hasten, perma Soul Absorption, Perma Fade (including cast time), capped S/L resist. I may have to try this. I also have no idea about Imps vs Dark Servant so those sets could be swapped around if the servant is better.   13. 3 slotting Hasten is a waste as you can be well beyond perma with 1 slot. Moved those 2 slots around and swapped out some IOs for more recharge 42.3% ranged defense (without invis on) got more HP and higher recovery. Psi Tornado already has listed as knockup instead of knockback so no need for the unique proc in there. I replaced that with chance for recharge and that should get you perma PA including cast time when it procs. Also got Numinas for your heal so one heal every 2 min and keeps your recovery up and used health for the Panacea unique for more random +endurance. Fly is at the cap already without any enhancements so threw KB protection in there as well. Otherwise it is the exact same build as far as powers goes, just more efficient, a bit more survivable, and a bit more expensive.   14. If you are starting a /fire farmer, Axe is not the way to go. Sure it can farm but will be much slower than Spines or Rad. If you really want a weapon set to farm with go with TW as it has AoE galore.
  15. Yes it does, or at the least the mobs do what they can to get out of the AOE area unless they are taunted or held/imob. While it makes it a bit of a pain to have your other AoEs hit as many mobs as possible, it works as a soft control to slow down incoming damage.
  16. You can sometimes tank but not consistently. The main issue is aggro. By running in/shooting first that will grab the initial aggro but in order to keep it you would need to dip into the presence pool. Brutes, blasters and scrapers are likely to pull aggro from you in prolonged fights as you will not be doing enough damage to compete. Now sometimes groups melt stuff so fast that it doesn't matter but on those teams there are normally enough buffs that no one is really tanking, stuff just dies too fast to matter who has aggro. On an AV fights is where you really want aggro control. Without a taunt you are not going to be the main focus with any of those 3 AT on your team and would not be able to tank. On my blaster I have pulled aggro off of tanks that do not take taunt and that is simply not possible with the damage output of a sentinel.

  18. Update. Got all the IOs now and working on Incarnate stuff and as long as there is no negative/psi or as long as I don't get hit with defense debuffs I can handle +4x8 without issues. Just got Clarion up to 120 seconds so no need to worry about mez for the most part anymore. I still face plant in a hurry if a debuff hits but otherwise I can just play like a brute/scrapper and run in and blow stuff up and don't have to worry if I go one way and the team goes another. I did decide on Hover/Fly instead of Combat Jumping because well she is a demon with wings so it just fits better.

  22. Did a market Crash last night at +2 and I went one way, the group went another. The tank's and brute's HP bar was moving more than mine. The last fight with Fire/Atomic I ended up tanking the last boss for the latter part of the fight. The tank either didn't take taunt or never used it and I was doing enough damage to pull aggro and keep it and thanks to capped defense to everything but negative or psi, was able to survive with needing to pop a total of 3 heal inspirations (no healer on the team). Now +4 stuff would be a bit more difficult but doable and probably slower than a /fire brute on a fire farm but likely faster than that same brute on a random map with stuff other than fire damage. So yes they can solo but you have to build a lot of defense and a lot of recharge to be effective.
  23. Not sure why you would go Nerve Alpha. You have plenty of To Hit/Accuracy already and should be able to hit +4 mobs with ease. You have 0 holds, taunts or confuse and your fly speed is capped already without any incarnates. Agility core will give you the same defense increase plus recharge plus endurance mod. You should also check out the new sets. They are expensive but can easily get you past 50% defense with the exact same powers.
  24. There are some options with DB. You can go with no hasten and just with some global recharge be able to just do attack vitals - sweep combo all day long for plenty of AoE goodness. Or you can go with ultra high recharge and try and chain together Empower and Attack Vitals for more single target. With Spiritual and Ageless it certainly is possible. Outside of Ageless it is still doable with a very minor gap in between with something I threw together in a few min. Mind you this has much lower defense than many /WP out there as I put in as much recharge as I could find but I got the HP to over 2800 and regen to 96 with just one mob in melee range and that should make up for a portion of the lack of defense. I'm sure there are those that have spent more time tweaking and have something more durable that is just as fast and does just as much damage.   25. You can get close enough to work. When I was filling out my IO sets I found after 40% I didn't really need to use lucks anymore and the heal alone kept me alive in the few times my health dropped a bit. Something like this is fairly cheep for a farming build, but does not have any meaningful single target damage for any roaming bosses and not enough recharge for my tastes. This should be able to handle +4x8 easy enough but would be slower compared to a high end build. But if you are going to build a character just for making you money form farming you may as well first spend that money on the farmer itself. That way it is much faster in the future to make money for alts.
