Some things players do that annoy you?
Marine X replied to killigraphy's topic in General Discussion
Wow...... Don't even know what to say to that. A person can prefer to Solo or Team, and are still Part of the same Community that has members who believe it is their place to tell them they are not welcome. I thought we were above this Elitist garbage. "Everyone can play how they like" has always been a Motto of this game, and is part of what makes it special. I solo a lot, not by choice, I play early in the morning when few people are available, but if I'm not welcome here, and should not be bothering to play, you'll be sure to let me know, right? Typical MMO culture does not apply to CoH, never has. -
Also an easy Experiment that might help isolate what is causing the lag is to create a Character on Reunion. It is a totally separate server, rather than a shard, and the connection to it follows a totally different Internet Pathway through ISPs than reaching the other shards in Montreal. If this works properly you may be able to set up a VPN to avoid the default route to Montreal. Strange as it sounds, a lot of people have had issues if their Web Path goes through the Detroit Area ISPs. The Following article covers this subject:

Found this on the Paragon Wiki; To calculate the total enhancement value use the following method: Add up the values of all enhancements in the power plus the portion of the Alpha Enhancement that is affected by ED. Apply ED to this value. Add the portion of the Alpha Enhancement that is not affected by ED for the total enhancement value. Examples Example 1: A character's power slotted with three Recharge Single-Origin Enhancements will have 99.9% increased attack rate pre-ED which becomes approximately 94.9% once ED is applied without the Alpha Slot. Slotting a common Spiritual Alpha Slot ability (33% increased attack rate) ignores ED for 1⁄6 of its effects but ED is still applied to the remaining 5⁄6. The power therefore has a total ED affected enhancement value of 99.9% + 5⁄6 * 33% = 127.4% which after ED is approximately 99.1%. The remaining 1⁄6 of the Alpha Slot's enhancement is added to this giving a final enhancement value of 99.1% + 1⁄6 * 33% = 104.6% Slotting a very rare Spiritual Alpha Slot ability (45% attack rate, stun, and healing) ignores ED for 2⁄3 of its effects but ED is still applied to the remaining 1⁄3. The power therefore has a total ED affected enhancement value of 99.9% + 1⁄3 * 45% = 114.9% which after ED is approximately 97.2%. The remaining 2⁄3 of the Alpha Slot's enhancement is added to this giving a final enhancement value of 97.2% + 2⁄3 * 45% = 127.2% Example 2: A character's power slotted with 2 Recharge Single-Origin Enhancements will have 66.6% increased attack rate which since it is less than 70% is not affected by ED so remains at 66.6%. Slotting a common Spiritual Alpha Slot ability (33% increased attack rate) ignores ED for 1⁄6 of its effects but ED is still applied to the remaining 5⁄6. The power therefore has a total ED affected enhancement value of 66.6% + 5⁄6 * 33% = 94.1% which, since it is greater than 70% is affected by ED resulting in approximately 90.9% post-ED. The remaining 1⁄6 of the Alpha Slot's enhancement is added to this giving a final enhancement value of 90.9% + 1⁄6 * 33% = 96.4% Slotting a very rare Spiritual Alpha Slot ability (45% attack rate, stun, and healing) ignores ED for 2⁄3 of its effects but ED is still applied to the remaining 1⁄3. The power therefore has a total ED affected enhancement value of 66.6% + 1⁄3 * 45% = 81.6% which, since it is greater than 70% is affected by ED resulting in approximately 80.4% post-ED. The remaining 2⁄3 of the Alpha Slot's enhancement is added to this giving a final enhancement value of 80.4% + 2⁄3 * 45% = 110.4% Hope this is helpful...

Let's talk about Paragon City. I have questions.
Marine X replied to TraumaTrain's topic in General Discussion
The Premier Shopping Experience in Paragon City was the White Plains Mall and Expo Center at Coordinates 2949.6, -18.5, -5637.6. There was a misunderstanding regarding Long Term Parking Permissions that has been interfering with it's operation for some time. The Paragon City School District's Eastgate Campus was the Primary Educational Source for children K-12. It was located at Coordinates -749,-539, -1647, right next to the Paragon Airport. -
Just thinking after doing some re-watching recently on HULU how well the SGI, Atlantis and Universe hold up. Only notable flaw is the aspect ratio of SG1 on a Modern Flatscreen. But what could be done to rebuild this Wealth of Lore, a Lot. I actually believe the future lies more in Tying up old loose ends, creating new ones and building from the existing Mythology. Not making it sexier, fresher, more Millennial. Missing Closure: The Tollan: Last heard from as Tannith was Obliterating their Cities and fleeing Ships from Orbit after they backed away from Selling out Earth. Ships? They had Ships? Really? All we ever saw was a really grey City, a Homemade Stargate, people who could Phase through walls, and a bunch of now ineffective Big Honking Space Guns. When did they get Ships? and Why? They had no need for ships with their ability to build Stargates... Unless they were establishing new colonies or mining sites on other Planets. They may have already had other "one destination Gates" for the Transportation of Resources. Either way, if they had Ships, and it wasn't Thanksgiving so everyone was on Tollana preparing for a Tryptophan Overdose, the Tollan still exist, probably in significant numbers. I want to see what a Tollan Ship can do. Gimmee. The Goa'uld / Jaffa I know, I know, done to death. But as the Tokra always said, The System Lords were the Issue. They enslaved Millions, and even with the System Lords gone there were still many Goa'uld roaming the galaxy, Overdressing for every occasion and Making Grandiose Schemes to acquire power and influence. They just can't help but want to empire build. it justifies the wardrobe. The Jaffa on the other hand went from being thugs, to freedom fighters, and probably back to being Thugs. It was the only life they ever knew, and for some of them, It was tied to their life goals. They at the end they had already embraced the Ori, and showed that they too craved power to some extent. Not a surprise that the Lucian Alliance was flying around in Goa'uld Motherships, they were probably a lot a Jaffa and former Goa'uld Slaves in their ranks. The Tok'ra Although Devastated from multiple attacks on their home planets, at the beginning of "Continuum" there was a new Tok'ra Homeworld. With lots of Chanting. And Ba'als, lots of Ba'als. Enough Ba'als to have figured out how to successfully Clone Egeria, their Queen, with all of her Memories and build a Peaceful and Benevolent Society, with Ba'als. ( Sorry, just couldn't not go there) Atlantis Hey, hey there...Still floating around in the wrong ocean, they could have at least parked the damn Cityship off the right coast. The Red Zone is for the unloading of Passengers only, any... The Blue Zone is for... The Red Zone....nevermind. Anyway, this needs some closure to say the least, the Pegasis Galaxy still has a small Wraith Problem we made worse and now we're on holiday, for good? huh. Universe Crew-cicles, a bunch of Crew-cicles, so sad. The comic took care of resolving this but is not cannon as far as I can tell. Freezer burn is a bitch. To be Continued.....? Ok, time to go make some Creamy Deviled Eggs and prep some Garlic / Parmesan Chicken wings ( 3 lbs ) for our family cookout, I will be in a Barbeque Stupor by about 4 pm today so I need to put away all sharp objects and check the house for trip hazards. Later.

Shards, Heroes, Villains, Praetorians and a Calculator
Marine X posted a topic in General Discussion
Bored at work today, we must be the only people open in the known Universe. So I decided to play with my Calculator and this mornings server statistics. Hopefully it will be useful and Informative, or at least a mental exercise. ( This Data is from about 9:00 EST this morning, I will try to redo this later during closer to peak hours.) Most Heroes by % goes to Excelsior @ 79.3%, followed closely by Torchbearer. Most Villains by % goes to Indomitable @ 16.8%, followed closely by Reunion. Most Praetorians by % goes to Reunion @ 13.8%, followed closely by Indomitable. Most Mission Maps compared to population goes to Indomitable @ 89.4% by a wide margin of almost 11%. Least Mission Maps compared to population goes to Excelsior @ 64.4%, by more than 8% ( Formula Used: Player Group/Map divided by Total Population X 100 =% Shard Name Online Players Heroes Villains Praetorians Map Instances Torchbearer 178 139 (78.1%) 22 (12.4%) 17 (9.6%) 139 (78.1%) Excelsior 334 265 (79.3%) 32 (9.6%) 37 (11.0%) 215 (64.4%) Indomitable 113 79 (69.9%) 19 (16.8%) 15 (13.2%) 101 (89.4%) Everlasting 201 151 (75.1%) 27 (13.4%) 23 (11.4%) 146 (72.6%) Reunion 174 122 (70.1%) 28 (16.1%) 24 (13.8%) 135 (77.6%) Total 1000 756 (75.6%) 128 (12.8%) 116 (11.6%) 736 (73.6%) -
Odd that a Data Center issue is affecting all Shards considering Reunion is on a different Continent.

Excellent, I love unique bugs, that's a keeper.

It might also be worth checking to see if Damage Dealt in the Tutorial applies to the Damage Count, or if it begins once you reach Atlas. I am not sure, but I know I am able to get badges immediately If I do the tutorial, so if they don't count.....

For the Seal Clobbering, go to Croatoa and Defeat Sally, She only has 2 Hit points, and She could pass for a Seal if you were on Hallucinogens and Wild Turkey. Also you'll get that, " I'm a Horrible Person " feeling, that you could use to explain your desire to be a pacifist. PS ( Off the Giant Seal twice and you've only caused 4 ticks of Damage and you get a Badge )

Glad you got it working. The best place for it is usually in it's own folder on your hard drive. This avoids conflicts over permissions and limits the number of issues you may have down the road. Then just locate the Tequila.exe in that folder and create a shortcut to it on your desktop. This also avoids it occupying your Ram when it's not running, as most desktop items are merely shortcuts, not complete folders/programs.

An Observation Regarding the Community Growth
Marine X replied to ImpousVileTerror's topic in General Discussion
No, they don't, however Alt Accounts are rarely going to log into the forums, other than @MetaVileTerror, who pops up under a new name every other week ( Just Kidding ). Probably a lot are Bots, but some are Lurkers and Stalkers, and the cautiously curious and we welcome them. Anything that isn't negative that keeps growing the population is in our long term best interest. There are also a lot of players who create an account here so they can create a game account, but never visit the boards, or prefer using the Discord Channel. The population here is only part of the picture. I do enjoy seeing a newby question in the game Help Channel, new people are joining us, I'll take slow growth over negative growth. The initial rush of Players was expected to slow after a while, or the next "shiny" came along, but both old and new players are joining us at a pretty regular pace, I like seeing that. -
An Observation Regarding the Community Growth
Marine X replied to ImpousVileTerror's topic in General Discussion
Also to consider is that if you look at the " Online Users " tab, there are a bunch of " guest " viewers online any time you look. A lot of these may be people just curious about Homecoming from other servers or those considering creating an account. It may also be people with accounts, but they are not at their normal location ( work/mobile ) so are not logged in. Either way, lots of eyes on the forums. -
I also observed that the counter for badge completion does not count down, but it does award at the appropriate time, but without the normal onscreen " Badge Earned " pop and just appears in your inventory, works for me.

whew... quite the read to catch up to this point in the topic so as to be informed as to what has been covered. I am always a little cautious of change, and of any level of Cancel Culture. I waited for years for this game to return, and to see those God Forsaken Blue Caves again, I think I may have even chuckled a little the first time I ended up in the Spawn of Satan Council Pool Complex. I would like to see new content, new maps, new mission Arcs, new base items, new costume pieces and maybe even some new Giant Monsters. But I don't want to start replacing existing assets and content. I play on Homecoming because they are taking a slow and careful approach to developing the game, preserving the original game as much as possible, improving it where they can and I think that is for the best. The OP mentioned running into the Blue Caves Map doing Radio Missions, maybe they could just be removed as a potential map assignment there, and left In place for the original assignments they were created for. That would hopefully help remove some of the frustration without removing them entirely from the game. I have no first hand knowledge of the Devs situation. I do however know my own. If I were to donate my time to a project like this, at the end of the day, I would like to see tangible results. They have many been at this for years to get to the point we are at. Hopefully there will be many more years ahead of us, with New things introduced along the way and the old things right where we remember them.

Suggestion for Next April Fool’s Day
Marine X replied to Apparition's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Before the return of CoH, for April Fools a few years back, Codewalker force enabled Cell Shading on Paragon Chat and claimed it was a permanent improvement to make us all look more like Champions Online. I thought it was hilarious..... https://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php?topic=11849.0 -
So you are saying you want something a notch "BELOW" a Hamidon Raid or Mothership Raid? These both already require a Huge amount of people, Incarnate or not, to be successful? If you are thinking Challenge, form a Team or League and go hunting in the Hive, that's always a Hoot, Those Giant DE Monsters have no sense of humor and will be more than happy to introduce you and yours to new and never before seen Yoga Positions ( AKA Ragdoll Physics ). I ended up in a Tree once, Excellent.

Favorite CoX Memory Contest! Now until July 1st!
Marine X replied to GM Miss's topic in Events & Contests
When I first started playing CoH was a couple months after launch and it was my first MMO. I swear I was the only ( 40 Year old ) newby on Virtue that day. I couldn't figure anything out. Finally had to ask where Antonio Nash ( I think ) the mutant contact was. This guy kept telling me " He's in City Hall ", I would go in the door, rotate around and then text " he's not in here " back to the player I was chatting with. He replied " He's in the Basement ", at this point I thought I was getting the old 1st day at school prank, " just take the elevator to 3rd floor " , when you asked where something was in a 2 story school. I texted over Global, " Can someone just tell me where Antonio Nash is ?", It was humbling and hilarious when the player I had been chatting with came inside and led me over to the stairs, I felt about 1" tall, and it always reminds me to help people out when you can, politely and patiently, it's a hero game after all ( no offense to CoV players, it took me way longer to figure out Redside ). -
Did you hear about the fight in that restaurant last night? Four fish got battered! With friends likes these, who needs anemones? ugh... those were very bad... Such a load of carp Off to do some sole searching....

Help me use the in-game star system, please.
Marine X replied to EmmySky's topic in General Discussion
1= People who don't know how to CoH, and don't appear to have a Sunny Future ahead of them, even though their parents tell them differently before bed each night. 2= May consider playing with again but only if caught at a weak moment right after accidentally paying $24,000,000 Influence for a level 20 Generic Slow IO. 3= Remedial Uninformed Inexperienced but otherwise Great People, according to their cousin's husband's sister who was also on that team that didn't completely suck. 4= Have all the basic skills, their costume is not distracting, their chat is not offensive, they are very prompt, and have very good personal hygiene. 5= Outstanding Leaders and Amazing Team Players that are personally invited to any and all Upcoming World of CoH Tours. If they can ever add..... 6= Out of my Class, GODS, I should spend my time hand washing their Athletic Supporters or other gear on the hope a little Genius rubs off on me. -
This is what I found. If you go to the Pillar of Ice and Flame the first Dark Astoria mission will be from Captain Nolan, it is an Introduction to DA. While looking at the mission list it will be the only one not highlighted. Did that one and got the badge. It is a solo/non combat mission. The mission progression will start and run to the end without it but you won't receive the badge till you complete it.
