  1. Holy Slit!!!! Can't believe it did that...
  2. This sounds very much like you are suggesting that if the pricing in the game isn't working to your satisfaction it's because no one else on this thread understands economics. That may not be your intent, but if it is, that's extremely condescending and I’m unclear what you hope to gain by that...
  3. We are spinning here on a few different things, whether you mean for us to be or not 1.) Whether you like it, or don't like it, steady inflation is not happening. The price controls prevent this. Inflation, by definition, is a reduction in the purchasing power of money. The price controls set by the dev's (seeded salvage) help prevent this. The fact that there are no finite resources in the game also prevent this. 2.) This is not now, or on Live, ever been a free market. A free market exists wihout controls. This is not a command market...as the Dev's do not set the prices. This is in between. It is a combination of both... 3.) The live dev's can make all the posts they want, but you make it sound like this was a problem they had licked. There was frequent hoarding on live...Hoarding, leads to inflation. Since new product is introduced daily into the market, hoarding is not occurring. 4.) You've mentioned how different this is than live...on live, the recipe/salvage drops were lower than HC...thus, resources could not keep up as well with demand as well as they can here. When demand lowers compared to supply, prices drop. I've noticed some inconsistencies you've mentioned here, and I'm not sure you are doing it intentionally: You've mentioned several times that the Live dev's wanted it to be possible for you to make your build without ever going to the AH. What has changed? Any market speculation only happens in the market. As I said, the drops are better here, so this is factually easier than live You've mentioned inflation several times, and have yet to provide an example. Is this just a hypothetical exercise or is their a real concern. If so, please provide evidence You've mentioned that the dev's are setting the rates, but they are not. Regardless of a command or free economy, Supply and Demand will alaways set rates. That is a fundamental staple of economic theory. In a free market, there are few if any comtrols over supply and demand, and lots of controls in a command economy. But regardless, if supply is high, and demand is low, then prices drop. But I am unclear what you are asking for...more supply, more demand, more controls, less controls...
  4. Aries, I think the problem is that the Help channel can become crowded with off-topic discussions (nerd culture, build arguments, best bbq in Memphis, etc.) People who are off topic are often reluctant (refuse) to move on-topic because there is no global channel for them to have off topic conversations. when the existence of such channels is pointed out, they usually aren’t satisfied, because despite knowing the best build, AT, powersets, power choices, and IO’s, the actual mechanics of having to search and subscribe to a global channel are too difficult to master. In reality, I expect those people just want their audience (the whole shard) and are unwilling to move unless an alternative is available that we are forced to be a part of. Personally, I am against this, because a.) I doubt it will change behavior for the obstinate ones I just discussed and b.) for those that are willing to go into another channel, we already have the options you describe.. I am really pretty bitter at the Help channel, can you tell? P.S. There are really tried and true heroes in that channel who not only put up with the above crap, but do so with aplomb and decorum while still managing to help people...
  5. I only noticed the other posts because you quoted them. I've had both of those users on ignore because their posts tend to lean towards the very negative.
  6. I'm not sure what you are asking here...Putting aside the market as non-gameplay, let's look at this.... Player fights mobs, completes missions, and earns XP & Inf...Player buys gear on the market... Player completes story arcs, TFs, gets badges, and earns reward merits...Player buys gear from Merit Vendor These are game play activities that will fund someones gear...You might feel the price is too high, but you have several alternatives...1.) Do you what you would do without a market, and earn salvage/recipes through drops...the drop rates have been dramatically improved over live...2.) Buy thru Merit Rewards...this is what I used to on live...If you feel that market prices are a better than this option, that only reflects that the market is healthy...3.) buy converters and cheap recipes/salvage and make your own items...you don't have to sell them, you can keep and use them (this is what I do on HC)...4.) Buy the Recipe/Salvage from the Market, which is still much cheaper than the completed enhancement... Beyond that, I'd posit that the market is another form of game play (common on many MMO's). I find the market to be quite fun myself. It's optional, but so are TF's, and I would still consider them game play...So is forming a team, and I'd still posit that's part of the game play as well... Despite all the examples you've listed, the fact is the market's inflation is already constrained, as I and Cappocollo mentioned, by the salvage seeding and the merit vendors..And again beyond that, because of these caps, overall inflation is limited as well...You mentioned prices on a IO had spiked...they have since dropped...Yes it is a specific example, but it proves the point... Finally, this is a problem, that if it occurs, can be easily remedied, by the developers, without any need for code changes...They can just seed the market with uncommon salvage/recipes. This is not a problem that a.) needs to be addressed at all IMO, but b.) even so, could be easily remedied when the time comes.
  7. For what it's worth, I read the prior posts you rebutted and thought the person you were responding to was condescending and rude...I thought your responses civil...Not sure why you are being called out as the snarky one, but I guess some people are quick to overreact...
  8. I wouldn't be alarmed...the game made it 6 years with a peak population of 3K...I'm certain we can maintain a higher level than that....The HC folks were clever in moving to OVH, because they scale down their server needs on demand and reduce costs quickly... Since the game has no marketing (other than viral thru MassivelyOP, Facebook, Word of Mouth), no development, and is really out of date, it's unlikely it's going to draw a much bigger crowd than it already has. We'll keep shrinking over the next 6 months to 1 year and hopefully hit an equilibrium point...
  9. Have you ever been able to connect? This happens to me when I put in the wrong username/password combination...I know that you said you changed it, but I ask because the Forum Account/Password is not the same used by the game. You can manage the game account information by click the Game Account Link in the forums top toolbar. Let us know if that's still not the issue and if you have been able to connect
  10. He's busy watching Hamilton with Karl Marx
  11. Sounds like you and @Lunchmoney share a similar set up
  12. What? It's just a little now and then, to knock the edge off...Plus, I get that energy boost that I sometimes need after a stressful day or most days in the mid-afternoons... The place where I get it from started me out with a little taste, and I've been hooked ever since. One time, they changed the formula and I did not like it...it felt very weird... I stopped for a while until I found out that the supplier was bring back the original formula... But I think I can stop anytime...It's not like I need it to function or anything...Sometimes, after a hot day outside, my kiddo and I will just pass Coke around... Wait, why is everyone starting at me so funny? Oh, not that kind of Coke silly, this kind...
  13. Try this /bind w "petcom_name grave knights aggressive goto" There is not "petcom_graveknight" command... /bind [key] "target_custom_next mypet grave" should select & toggle between the grave knights, cycling from near to far with each key press..
  14. Stop it @Healix, my stomach hurts from laughing and I just ate...your gifs kill me! Love it
  15. Quite possibly...the Forum account and the game account are not the same thing... To create the game account, click the Game Account link in the top toolbar of the forums
  16. I like this idea...I really like the idea of the timer (which safeguard/mayhem missions already use really well), I like the idea of limited lives, and the prohibition on temp/powers inspys.... What would you envision as the reward for this and how the reward scale based on difficulty? I'd love it if the last floor was something like the gladiator pit from summer blockbuster...multiple AV's, but on a timer... Cool stuff! /signed
  17. Assuming you were replying to me, I was just using LotG as an example, same as you...same rules apply...Small inflation may continue (until markets get reseeded) but not runaway inflation. Additionally, due to the prevalence of merit and thus enhancement converters, it's much cheaper to craft your own LotG then buy one on the open market, which also works to counteract inflation...
  18. Because the market is seeded (and could be reseeded), runaway inflation is extremely unlikely. Someone just bought up all the LotG enhancements and is pricing them out of reach...Great, because with a seeded market, I can, as a speculator, just make some new ones...Will they price higher than normal? Yes...Will they be priced lower than the guy who just bought them all up? Yes...I win, because I can sell stuff at a briefly inflated price that is less than the guy trying to corner the market... So what's that guy going to do, when all the sudden he sees LotG selling at $10-11M instead of $12M? He's going to have to pull sales back from the market (and lose the listing price, keeping inflation down), and relist them for $8-9M, meanwhile another speculator sees this oppty as well, and slowly the price moves back to normal. It might mean having to wait a week before prices return to normal, but they seem to have done so repeatedly... Has long as Inf Sinks exist (market listings, seeded salvage) and people still keep earning influence, the market should be OK...It's possible we seem some normal inflation, but that's OK, that's the price of having an open marketplace. Regardless, this is a problem that the Dev's can correct if it becomes obvious that it's happening, by seeding additional salvage at the uncommon or rare level without having to actual code in a fix that would have longer term repercussions
  19. You are describing a re-architecture of how characters/accounts/supergroups relate to each other...Supergroup bases aren't at the account level at all, they are tied to characters and are unaware of accounts...At this point all items have been re-architected away from accounts as well...every, except for the characters themselves are at the character level...You'd have to allow someone to access SG bases across shards, etc...I'm not saying how easy or hard it would be for the Dev's to do this...I'm saying it would have impacts across the game that I can't even imagine, which always makes me shy away For #2, the Dev's have said it's an impossibility at this time. It's not a coding issue, it becomes a performance issue...Not sure the specific details, but it's off the table... Like I said, I would big fan of a recipe catalog for bases...People who don't want them wouldn't have to use them, no unintended impacts...
  20. Sorry to hear about this....my prayers are with you.
  21. Now that’s comedy! My sides still hurt
  22. I don't know you that you were making demands, but you have asked several times and no one has stepped up to your satisfaction...That's fair that you aren't satisfied, the point is just that other people don't need to take time out of their schedules to satisfy you either... And I'm certainly not suggesting your feelings are invalid...just that software code doesn't work on feelings but rather fact and logic. You need evidence to sign off on code in the first place (unit/beta testing), and you need evidence to suggest it's not working. Feeling's aren't evidence...So have your feelings, but without evidence, it's unlikely that anyone will pay much attention... Except that for everyone in this community time is their money...I think that's the point. Without evidence you keep asking (I didn't say demanding) people to take their time away to look at something that just "feels" wrong, despite the evidence of people who are suggesting otherwise... I'm not attacking you here...Randomness and Coincidence are fickle friends and they are frustrating, more so in real life than in gaming even...I am however, just responding to what you are saying...
  23. Maybe if you both post the image you are getting using Vanden’s macro?
  24. Very nice Healix...love the moon shot
