Wait...so you agree with @Leogunner? Or are you being contrary to his statements? You can't have it both ways. You are both being contrary to each other. As for participation, @Leogunner been on the forums almost as long as you, he's got more posts than you. He's more than proven himself capable of digesting information and doing math even. So I'd say he's safe on the "participated in" box as well. I know I am... Because I am 100% certain you are suggesting we can't read and participate equally well. It's hard to believe people when they say their anecdotal evidence trumps hard numbers. But to each their own I suppose. Since you don't care, I guess we are done here...But I suspect you care a little and this isn't the last we've heard on this.

Still not seeing any data to the contrary...So i guess he's just wrong cuz...yankee doodle dandy? If you are reading the posts, then put up your own numbers...because my experience is Leogunner's as well... EDIT: BTW - I think it's hysterical there's still a debate over what % of posts are "nerfs" or not.

I think if Nemesis died and he did so because of an apple pastry accident, Would that be Nemesis pied? Of course not, I'm just taking you all for a Nemesis plot ride!

The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law

The way some of the posters are it would be last Stan standing. But I like your idea better... -
The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law

You can trademark your likeness, just can’t copyright it. But Trademark doesn’t extend to the Code of Conduct. -
Purchased Halloween costumes don't count towards badges?
justicebeliever replied to Extor Prime's topic in Badges
But the game counts some amount of non-existent costumes toward the badge. I got the 10 costume badge with only 9 costumes. And I have 35 towards the 50, but I only have 22 actual temp powers costumes. -
The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law
justicebeliever replied to Stan The Man's topic in General Discussion
True. FWIW, Stan the Man is not one of their trademarks however and is not owned by any comic or entertainment company. but again, it shouldn’t matter, because you can’t trademark a name to keep it from being used by people (the hospital never checks trademarks when filling out those birth certificates), you can just use it to keep someone else from marketing to a similar target audience with the same name. -
The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law
justicebeliever replied to Stan The Man's topic in General Discussion
Publicity laws only apply to commercial ventures. You don’t own your face, but you own the sole right to make $$ off it. Is HC a commercial venture? At this point in time and space I believe so. They haven’t formed a non-profit yet, and as such they are. Are they using a likeness of a Stan Lee to generate the financial gifts they receive? No. So it really shouldn’t be an issue -
The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law
justicebeliever replied to Stan The Man's topic in General Discussion
I think this is a distinction without a difference in the eyes of copyright law. Neither has been historically OK under the law. Again, it seems like the companies don't care as much, since they aren't pursuing cosplay and fan art. But lack of pursuit does not constitute legality. Parody is defined my dear @ShardWarrior, as something a reasonable person would assume is making fun of the source material. Like all visual media, you gotta show it to evaluate it, and it's not something you can program into a computer, but rather something you'd ask 12 people, who have been vetted to be without bias, to make their best determination on. And all the other examples, "tribute", "homage","direct copy" are the same thing in the eyes of copyright. All of this is moot here, because: You can't copyright real people. Dead or alive. Copyright ONLY applies to man made things Trademark is a horse of a different color, but shouldn't apply here either, since this is a non-commercial venture, and isn't covered in the Code of Conduct. But @ShardWarriorsaid it best here: -
The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law
justicebeliever replied to Stan The Man's topic in General Discussion
I think this is 1/2 right. Parody is allowed, but parody requires that you must be making fun of the source material in a meaningful way. I think the OP would say that parody is not his intent. He is wishing to honor the late great Stan Lee Homage enjoys no copyright protection under the law at this point. So it’s not necessarily allowed. And I only say not necessarily, because no one’s really tested how fair it extends in this arena (fan art and cosplay are examples of homage that are not allowed under the le, but no one seems to be pushing a case against it) However it’s moot here, because real life people can’t be copyrighted. There is absolutely NO copyright issue at play here. Trademark? That’s another story...but it also does not enjoy “homage” exceptions either -
Please stop, you made spit smoothie on my keyboard and it's a PITA to clean off...

The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law
justicebeliever replied to Stan The Man's topic in General Discussion
Well the should be safe, unless your character bio is going to start to include BBQ Sauce, Sports Memorabilia, or Sprinkler Systems. (Those are the only areas where the phrase "Stan the Man" is trademarked). Marvel has not trademarked "Stan the Man" As for real world people, they cannot be copyrighted. You are allowed to use another real person's likeness in a non-commercial setting legally. Marvel cannot copyright Stan Lee. That just leaves the face, which I would imagine Marvel has a Trademark for. I'm pretty sure I've seen him in the cover corner several times. But Trademark should not apply as long as not effort is made to market the character. Homecoming does not have a specific trademark policy, but rather a copyright policy, which should not apply. Ultimately, since you are making this a public worry, why not just petition yourself to the GM's? They'll make the decision and notate it. It's not my judgment nor yours nor the forums that decides this, it's ultimately HC's interpretation of it's rules. And since you've posted this, I'm sure some troll somewhere has already petitioned it...Just get ahead of it. -
Mid's Reborn: Hero Designer
justicebeliever replied to Metalios's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
I've been using Pines and Mids since they were recreated for HC and I've never had a performance issue with any of the code branches. Not to say they have all been problem free, but @crytilishas been very good about responding and making frequent updates. It is a volunteer project for him, so let's be mindful any criticism is constructive and specific. Having worked many times of these kinds of projects, I know that user complaints that are vague about performance are nearly impossible to correct. -
A month of perma-night? Getting depressed lol
justicebeliever replied to GamerKate's topic in General Discussion
I'm fine with this suggestion, but I will hotly contest, that night provides easier to see visuals. I have over 3000 Screenshots I've taken in the last month for a project, and the only ones that I consistently have to adjust the brightness and contrast for are nightime shots. In some cases, the game will not even render contrast for some NPC's at night. They are essentially dopplegangers (all black, no contrast). The night itself doesn't bother me too much, it's the crappy visuals it presents that are frustrating to me. All that said, I'm not going to not play because of it. Conversely, no one who is supporting the event is going to stop playing without that. I liked the idea of Fr-Su all night, all the time in October, and the entire week of Halloween all night, all the time. It is a superhero game, not a nighttime monster shooter, after all... EDIT: I'm withdraw the suggestion that because it's a superhero game it should be bright and shiny, because I've come up with 20 examples in my own head of grim, gritty, work at night heroes since I posted this. I stand by the rest, because CoH doesn't do a good job with night time visuals, but I've no contextual problem with it being night, just a technical one. -

justicebeliever replied to GamerKate's topic in General Discussion
Who can tell without the sun...though I suspect the internal game clock is the same 1 hr = 1 day interval It always is -
I like this idea...And I'm fine with the week of Halloween being all night as well...But I take a lot of screenshots of the game, and at night the game scales down the contrast on some of the NPC's so much they look like the doppelgangers from Positron's Task Force.

I agree...I already miss the sun... Oh wait...what's that outside my window? The light...the light.... But seriously, I do miss the sun in the game... -
New Players - Enhancements (DOs & SOs - use em)
justicebeliever replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Agreed, the 5 P2W enhancements function as a lvl 20 Recharge. What’s needed is enough endurance to have attacks to use once they are recharged. -
The challenge with all of this is that Null the Gull’s alignment change powers can only be offered in neutral territory (like Pocket D), because Villains can’t be in paragon city, and Hero’s can’t be in the Rogue Isles. So it’d be difficult to make this work

There is not such a command. It has been requested several times. Here’s a great article about tweaking the info you see - And here’s the article Lost Ninja was referring to

Dead Horse...meet Bat... It's coming with improvements to the Base Transporter...so why don't we wait and see what those look like before starting another thread on this topic. I'm not really sure what can be said new that wasn't already covered here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/9231-official-enterbasefrompasscode-resolution-thread As for other things being exploity, I'm not sure how other exploity things makes a case for more exploity things. I'd also argue, at this point, AE has behaved this way since the Live days, so it's more of an ingrained playstyle for some than an exploit. As for P2W...the choice was P2W or lose everything that you used to get as part of the Paragon Market and Veteran Rewards, since HC can't accept $$ for microtransactions. I too would prefer the passcode function remain, but at this point it's been beaten to death...
