  1. Just an observation that I see from performance, the crystal ball I bought at a storage auction doesn't let me see the slotting choices of the many single-serving pug teammates I find myself paired with. Mind you I'm a min maxer and throw in IO sets as soon as I can. I typically play over on Everlasting.
  2. Are you saying this because a majority of the characters on a posi 1 tf are unslotted, don't have knockback prot, and are out classed by their shadow doppelgangers? You might have to run an old school posi tf vs a posi 1 with the same group to judge how much of a difficulty difference you're looking at. I do like the Shadow Doppelganger event at the end of Posi 1. If I was competent and able to redesign, I'd have the defeated Shadow Doppelgangers reform with Rollister to make a Shadow Madness Mage AV for the final encounter of the tf, but het that's just me.
  3. I see they haven't shut us down yet. That all said I think a reasonable benchmark of time for a task force is no more than about 2.5 hours, much more than that and it quickly becomes a chore. Breaking up the Positron TF was a great idea. Yes there's still some zone travel but it feels connected to the story more so than just go here, then there, and back to here etc. The length of each part works well. Synapse wouldn't get nearly as bad of a rap as it has if the 3 identical kill all's were condensed. I chuckle about the payphone patrols, as I had to explain to someone what a payphone was. Synapse is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me as when it comes around for it's.turn as the WST, I'll boot up all three of my accounts and solo an early morning run of it, and milk some extra merits on my two alts while I wait for everyone to wake up. I enjoy the recent work on the ASF and ITF revamp personally. Also Smoke and Mirrors is a fun one that a lot of people have no idea it exists.
  4. Yes I use provoke on quite a few characters. If I didn't have to fit leadership into a number of my builds, provoke is a power I'd strongly consider. Defenders, Blasters, Domis, etc. I take it on a number of AT's as well. As Thread said you can slot an acc into it, or if your global acc/the is good enough I like a zinger proc in it.
  5. Welcome none and all to the Officially Unofficial Hopefully Weekly Discussion. This is based on a discussion to bring back the weekly GM led discussions. GM Miss used to host weekly discussions for fixed topics, but retired. This is likely due to how @Cobalt ArachneArachne recently discussed the concept of "volunteer budget" in the thread asking for GM led discussions to come back. Well I'm no GM, Dev, hand model, or gas station attendant, I'm just a regular slob like the rest of us. My volunteer budget is probably already in a deficit, but I can pay that by juggling the debt via a few credit cards with very low APR for the first 24 months, so we'll see how long this goes. So this is Officially Unofficial, completely unsanctioned, and probably smells like teen spirit trying to mask sweat but oh well.... Week 1: How do you feel about taskforce/strikeforce design? Throughout the years we've been presented with a number of task forces and revisions to them. What do you like about task forces in general? What don't you like? What do you think about the zone transitions between missions? What's a good amount of missions for them to be able to tell a story while not being a torture exercise in redundancy? Anyone have any guilty pleasure Taskforce/Strike Force they like to play? Also I'm open to suggestions for next week's topic assuming the fuzz doesn't shut us down.
  6. https://cod.uberguy.net/html/archetype.html?at=blaster Solely between rad blast and seismic paired with atomic, I would probably go rad blast and lean into the melee aspect of atomic hard. Seismic can be played in melee, but I feel you'll get more mileage in melee with rad blast between those sets. That said try them both on brainstorm and see which one you like better.
  7. Yes. That's what I meant. I crossed the streams a bit here.
  8. This is difficult to project the price of a build. On brainstorm IOs are free, on the production servers, you might have 6 bins full of IOs, and only need to buy 2 to complete the build you try to slot. Otherwise I could post my build and what I paid for it, but that was 3 years ago, so depending on the market today you could expect to pay more, but who knows maybe pay less on certain things. I think you're better off just looking at builds and take into consideration recent updates and work on slotting what you can afford, as you can play a rad/fa brute from 1 to 50 in AE maps using purple inspirations and temp powers and adjust the difficulty scale of the map as you grow and are able to. Honestly that's how I slotted out my spines/fa brute way back in April 2019.
  9. I've stated my position to this in similar recent topics, but as I was reading the thread and idea occurred to me... What if the game was redesigned to remove all leveling? You progress through story arcs starting at small time to saving the universe, but never out level them. You don't have to worry about getting a lvl 50 on a tot league as there's no experience points in the game. You get all your powers and slots available at character creation. You can take a nuke for your first power, or your last it's up to you and how you envision your character. Mobs difficulty is revamped to use the old difficulty names, as +1, +4, etc doesn't make sense seeing as there's no levels. You can do an invincible ITF 3 minutes after making your character (and hopefully slotting it), or you can stand around Pocket D and get catfished, or something else entirely. Who needs levels and experience when the world is at your fingertips?
  10. I'm surprised I never thought to combine tornado with psionic tornado. I'm curious how it works for you at the high end.
  11. Next time try it where enhancements do not work. 😭
  12. I love doms the AT was the first CoV AT I was drawn too, and to date I have maybe 9 lvl 50 dominators on HC spread across my accounts (only one is not permadom, but it will be once I slot it). That said I wouldn't change permadom as it's set defining. I would suggest a minor inherent addition to help out Dominators regardless of whether they are able to achieve permadom or not with a 20% damage bonus for the Dominator themselves to targets afflicted by a mez. I personally find the damage output can be a little low for my taste, so I figure 20% is a reasonable increase. What do you think?
  13. I did this as a hover blaster using beam/energy. It works great with boost range your hitting things at like max render range. I did keep the heavy hitting energy melee attacks to deal with fliers that close range (if they live that long).
  14. I'd be down for a Battle Axe as a Stalker, but my god imagine a Titan Weapons Stalker. Don't mind the guy sneaking down the hall with an 8 foot sword.
  15. But yeah you're right about Phantasm, Energy Torrent has a ~6.2 mag on to it which is enough to toss most mobs and it's a cone.
  16. It has three attacks with a 0.67 oh which should knock down, I figured they might be using at low levels for a synapse tf or such since clockwork are weak to kb.
  17. You can definitely slot a +5 Acc or something if you want, or a +3 Nucleus or such.
  18. No our pvp community didn't receive the changes well. The intent was to make it so more people tried pvp out, but that didn't work out it just forced us to roll more alts, and adapt to the meta. I think it actually ended up being a greater roadblock for nonpvpers to trying pvp out.
  19. Fixed it for you...
  20. Well if I can find any time to play I can do a demonstration. That said procs like cocaine are a hell of a drug. Sadly though I have house guests this weekend so my availability will be limited.
  21. CoH's Alpha didn't feature Archetypes, you would freeform pick powers as you leveled up. Jack really liked that idea, and it's why he brought it over to CO as he is a huge fanboy of the Champion's Universe and was excited when Cryptic got the rights for CO. Archetypes came at the behest of NCSoft, thinking it would cause players to keep subscriptions longer as they play multiple roles for a new experience with the game. So Archetypes were added in as NCSoft had the money and the game evolved as you see.
  22. What's the goal that you have for the character besides saving money?
  23. Battle Axe/Bio - Spawn (just need a sentient cape and chains) PB/WS - Marvel Symbiotes to a degree Dark/Savage Domi - Morbius Rad/Fire Blaster - Starfire Stone Armor Brute/Tank - The Thing (note the Granite Armor model in game inspired the stone armor hero in Sky High) Water/Storm Corruptor - Aspen Matthews Realistically can keep going and going, you get the idea.
  24. They will benefit from soulbound proc. You could try 2 +5 lvl 50 recharge IOs, the soulbound proc. You could do an overwhelming force proc, and then add 2 more damage procs to round out the power.
