Target binds for rank and faction
SeraphimKensai replied to fitzsimmons's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I've long wanted bind/macro targeting by rank. This suggestion would be a relatively easy QoL change all things considered and would be equitable for all players. -
Sure. I'll drink a beer in solidarity November 30 at 3 am eastern.

The Next Santa or Christmas Inspired Toon ???
SeraphimKensai replied to smnolimits43's topic in Archetypes
If you want to make it as Tuatha as you can Earth/Earth Dominator is the closest powers you can get to their attacks. -
What are players thoughts on Seismic blast?
SeraphimKensai replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
Personally I wish no power in the game would require you to be on the ground to use. That said seismic blast is pretty good, using targeting binds can spawn meteor around corners and such. With the the time delay you can usually get a couple attacks off during that window, which is great for tossing something with a -res debuff. -
While I'll agree in part that there are some end costs that could be reduced to be standardized to be in line with similar powers (hello Hot Feet at 1.08 endurance/second), I really don't think we need an across the board stamina improvement. Hell the live devs eventually gave us the whole fitness pool as an inherent, a lot of us still remember the years of having to waste power picks to get stamina. That said how do you slot it? How do you slot your attacks? You can get recovery serums, cabs, base empowerment buffs, or throw an End Rdx SO into an attack until you can afford to IO slot. Otherwise you can address end issues late game also with incarnates. As a last means of refilling your endurance, there's a power every toon gets for free called Rest. It wasn't designed for Roleplaying. People actually used it and sometimes would even do so in mid battle while they have their teammates protect them while doing so. Just my two cents.

The Next Santa or Christmas Inspired Toon ???
SeraphimKensai replied to smnolimits43's topic in Archetypes
I would go Willpower/Claws tanker. Your power as Santa is based on the willpower and belief that children across the globe have in you, and you also have Claus...or claws. -
I typically don't often make builds in mids, I make my builds for the most part in my head. Occasionally I'll release a mids build on the forum but I'm not a big fan of doing so. For this particular powerset combos I do not have a readily available build in mids. That said feel free to make a build yourself and dm me and I am willing to give you feedback on it to help you get it closer to your overall build goals.

Stone armor is one of the best choices for a stalker secondary right after Shield.

Changes to stealth unnecessary....
SeraphimKensai replied to WillParkinson's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I was fairly vocal on that particular change myself during testing and even after it. I still feel that if the patch wasn't rushed out right before Faultline went on sabbatical and had a normal testing window for such a large patch it would of been reverted. -
I have several of these double toggle pbaoe toons: Spines/bio Armor brute Rad/dark armor scrapper Elec Armor/Rad tanker Otherwise on live I used to have an ice armor/spines tanker as well. They are all fun. Obviously the tankers are the most survivable. But that spines/bio brute is probably my favorite of the bunch just based on the character concept (I've thought about recreating it as a tanker).

A lot of my thoughts have been echoed by others like regen/energy armor/ninjitsu getting over to tanks. I do like how illusion was ported over to dominators making it more of its own, just like dark affinity as opposed to dark miasma. I think though the biggest need for powerset proliferation merits discussion about epic powersets ancillary/patron. Some archetypes have access up to 10 epic power pool sets to choose from (Sentinel) whole others have access to none (Kheldians). VEATS get access to patron powersets. It seems that most ATs have access to 4 ancillary powersets and the 4 patron sets for a total of 8 possible sets to choose from. I don't see how offering choices for each AT for ancillary/patron powersets would be an issue as the actual powers can be balanced for each AT based on their scalars. It would allow for greater build diversity, increased replayability, and better role playing options for those that role play. It would be great to see each AT have access to at least 4 ancillary sets and 4 patron sets to choose from. Nothing forces them to choose from any epic set and they can play without them.

New to Doms - Slotting Priorities for Plant/Savage?
SeraphimKensai replied to Cutter's topic in Dominator
With Frozen Armor, you also get 25.5% cold resistance and 8.5% fire resistance as a base to compensate for not getting the 8% energy defense that scorpion shield gets. Both armors have the exact same smashing/lethal defense at 12.75% I find that I'm usually not chasing an energy defense softcap on a dominator as I might likely have S/L and a positional softcapped, but playing into the mitigation in the control aspect of the AT typically gives more survivability IMO. The utility of sleet, hoarfrost, and arguably even hibernate are usually a better overall pick than what mace mastery has to offer.- 9 replies

New to Doms - Slotting Priorities for Plant/Savage?
SeraphimKensai replied to Cutter's topic in Dominator
With a plant/savage, I'd ensure perma Dom, try to get as much uptime on creepers as well, and heavily leverage roots, seeds, and a procedure unkindness to contain clumps of enemies while mitigating incoming damage and start reducing defense/res so you can leap in with feral charge and start shredding things. I'd play it jumping between range and melee to maximize your cones. I'd also look at ice mastery for sleet.- 9 replies

Well first off Happy Thanksgiving to the Americans, and happy belated Thanksgiving to the Canadians. World Cup woo hoo 🤣. Week 5 brings us to focus the discussion on Powerset Proliferation and how it may affect AT identity. Do you feel that powerset proliferation impacts your AT's identity? Why do you feel that way? Are there any sets that you want proliferated? If so why? Are there any sets that you don't want to see proliferated? If so why? What kind of priority for changes would powerset proliferation merit in your perspective?

Best (and worst) thematic powersets
SeraphimKensai replied to pawstruck's topic in General Discussion
Try it on a Granite Armor Tank. -
Personally I'm a messed up in the head, I love data, it's just the way my brain is wired, so I'm open to the idea of TF Stats. That said as far as elitism goes, I don't mind it because I'm pretty damn competitive. I was in a two expansion battle with another warlock on wowdps back in the day where we stirred each other on to push it ever further. Hell ended up becoming friends with the guy. I train MMA and spar weekly. That said, I get theirs people that don't feed off of competition like me, so I'm alright with the stats being just for the player themselves, but let's face it we all know just playing the in a TF if one or a couple people stand out and can handle the whole TF by themselves so there's no real secret to who may have outperformed who.

Personally I usually keep my characters Vigilante due to team breaking bugs I've experienced while Rogue. I do use Null the Gull quite a bit though especially on some characters as I do like some villain story arcs as the writing is superior to blue side. I do the occasional tip/morality missions but honestly the last few months I'm lucky to get in the game for more than an hour at a time. Any suggestions for tomorrow's thread? Otherwise I'll just pull a topic out of the ether.

I would hypothesis that the active forum population is a rather small sunset of actual players. Cipher can pull some stats and collaborate that or disprove it. But given the amount of people that don't know how to unlock things like Cimerora, I wouldn't think it a far leap that some might not be sure how to do tip missions or speak to Null the Gull.

It's one of the few powers in the game that you can give DDR to yourself/allies and that value is enhanceable. I would definitely slot it, but maybe that's just me.
-
Ice armor/ice melee tanker would definitely have more survivability than a blaster. You can roll play as an anthropomorphic ice cream sundae.

I get the multi VEAT builds as I play my FortNight with 3 builds and my SpiderBane with 3 builds as well. I'll use macros to hotswap builds on demand during missions as well. As anyone can use three builds as is and swapping them blows all your global cool downs, and each build requires using a whole additional set of enhancements I don't see this request as power creep and don't have an issue with a 4th build slot. That said I don't see how much adoption it would actually have, because in practice a lot of people seem generally confused when I'm on my window swapping between night widow attacks and psi blasts during the same mission (I try to time my CDs before build swapping).

You got the right forum. I don't know if you have experience with Bio Armor on any other AT, but similar concept. The idea is a layered approach. They typically build for recharge through IO slotting as ablative, rebuild DNA, and parasitic leech all make heavy use of recharge slotting. Otherwise you could also works towards building defenses as well to help mitigate the incoming dps. Early/mid game you'll use adaptation as necessary, but once you get enough slots/and IOs you'll likely set it to offensive and forget it. Beam rifle takes a little getting used but it can pack a wallop and works with meshes with the sentinel's vulnerability mechanic as well.

Can Hurricane get the same treatment as Repulsion Field
SeraphimKensai replied to plainguy's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The drawback is that some people like the knockback and use that as mitigation requiring mobs to take time to get back into melee range. The solution based on the previous replies might be conducive to having a knockback IO converted into a proc that inverses the repel? That said there's a lot of people that would be against the change as they'll cite a preconceived expectation for them to have that IO slotted in such a fashion by their teammates, or view it as an slot tax, or even power creep. I know that because I have raised the question regarding hurricane previously a couple years ago.
