  1. Or maybe they have lives to live and things to do and this is something to be grateful for and not nitpicky? Just sayin.
  2. Ice Ice Baby: An Ice blaster, his wife the Ice tanker and their little bundle of joy the Ice defender.
  3. Wait...are we farming for Nerf balls? I'm in!
  4. I was this old when I learned you don't have to choose red or blue at the end of the Praetorian arcs. Very cool, I have a Praetorian MM right now that I'm moving along. Will have to just keep on trucking into the Wards and forgo Primal Earth.
  5. This sounds amazing...or is it just meant to sound amazing because that's part of the plot, but if this is part of the plot then the plot would account for us knowing it and it wouldn't be part of the plot which in turn suits the original plot which makes me suspicious of the last plot being a plot within two other plots and why does everything smell like copper?
  6. Gold side is my "I don't feel like dealing with people" playtime. For my Praetorians, I turn off all chat channels except NPC chatter and live in my sound proof bubble for awhile. Each one is very viable solo. Red side I only have a couple, but they're built to solo as well. Red side is a nice distraction as the missions aren't nearly as fresh in my mind as blue side and it almost feels like a new game. I still monitor LFG chatter and the like and will hop over to another character blue side if it's warranted. As someone else stated, I like to read the mission text and the npc conversations. Hard to do that blue side since teams tend to roll pretty quickly. Gold and Red side, to me, always feel like solo time and that's not a bad thing.
  7. Welcome to the game and as has been said, go Gold. You have less of a pool of players to pull for backup and it's definitely meant for more advanced players so, you sink or swim. Plus, (at least for me) the stories there are pretty cool.
  8. Excellent, thanks! I was indeed confused about what gave what with morality missions.
  9. One question though: I tried running the tip missions and didn't get any reward merits for them. Did that get changed at some point?
  10. Ok, so I'm jumping in here as well looking for some thoughts on a build. Usually (Read: up until today) I've basically just worked at most on regular IOs and sets maybe here and there with little concern about sets. I'm not a min/maxer...or at least not very good at it. (Read: bored too easily/low attention span) So, I came up with this build. I figure it's expensive, but this guy's got money to spare, plenty of merits sitting around and I figure why not see what I can do with him. I'm open to any suggestions other than dropping Fly as my travel power. 11. Very cool guide! I built a Spines/Fire brute to make influence to fuel my altitis and have just been going by "what seems right". It's nice to see hard data like this. I'll be making some alterations (he's 32 at the moment) and should see a nice increase in what he's capable of. Again, thanks!
  12. So, this was back on live during a Synapse TF. I was running my FF/Dark defender and was looking forward to a good run through the TF. We started as a full team, but people fell off as it went on. This was back when a TF was a looooong endeavor. This was also during the days of "You are too far from your mentor" while sidekicking and everyone on a TF was usually in the level range and not packing fully slotted powers. Finally, we got to the final mission with myself, a scrapper, a blaster and a controller. The controller said we couldn't do it with just 4 and quit the team. Just as I was figuring I'd wasted several hours of my Saturday, the scrapper pipes up and asks if we'd be game for trying it. We all agree and fight our way though the Clockwork until we finally find the King. It definitely wasn't the prettiest or quickest fight in COH history, but we got him. I've yet to have a "Mission Complete" feel sweeter.
  13. Logging out in a graveyard for long enough can grant the Mortician day job badge. I was this years old when I accidentally discovered that.
  14. I had the exact opposite problem last night. Everyone kept advertising for teams they were starting (always for some TF or such that I knew a character needed) and everytime I'd /t them, I was always too late. It actually started to feel rather silly after a bit...like just missing the bus in a city full of busses.
  15. Mike and the Mechanics. Many is the mission where all I needed was a miracle. Also:
  16. I’m missing half of this, could some of you speak louder? My herring isn’t what it used to be.
  17. My main has all the Street Justice and Willpower powers and they all have a place in how I do things. That being said, I think its the only one of mine that does.
  18. Play. What. You. Want. That's the advice I give anyone and that I follow myself. Get to know the game, take the "bad" with the "good" and you'll be a better player for it. From beta til now, I've never given a rat's butt about the meta or min/maxing. Just play what seems fun to you. My uncle plays and he adheres to this mentality. He's currently soloing an emp/energy defender. Soloing an empathy defender. Let it sink in. And he's loving it.
  19. Justice Incarnate, scourge of the underworld. A being so bent on serving justice he realizes the only way he can further his war on crime is to work outside the law at times. A quick visit to a certain gull and this vigilante stalks the streets of Paragon and the Rogue Isles looking to right wrongs and protect the innocent...no matter who gets in his way. I see him as a plain clothes guy as any sort of costume would be too hero or villain. He's for the people and of the people. My badge suggestion: You should see the other guy.
  20. True, but I soloed him all the way to 50 and have never had the min/max mentality. It was fun with a challenge.
  21. In other words, the HC team is taking the slower and more deliberate path of the Incarnate...which as we all know, is the way to go.
  22. A quick need to back up has resulted in sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss before as well.
  23. I'd settle for TFs and SFs to somehow be open to Hero or Villain side. As in, instead of hoping beyond hope that enough villains are on to do a Silver Mantis, I could start one up and then invite from hero side as well. Other than radio missions and TFs or raids, do people team up for story missions very often on blueside? I solo story content on both sides and do my teaming mostly in radio missions, SF/TFs and raids. I doubt I'm alone. I'm not too bothered by lower population redside until I want to do one of the SFs. Yes, it goes against the flavor of red/blue, but a bigger pool to choose from for strike forces would be nice.
  24. Found it here: https://archive.org/details/City_of_Heroes_Prima/page/n2/mode/2up Looks to be the book version from 2005, but I can't remember when which came out and my copies are buried in boxes in the attic. Does anyone else remember which one this was?
  25. From the old Prima Guide: "When the archvillain Faultline held Overbrook ransom with his earthquake device, not many took him seriously. A group of fledgling superheroes did attempt to stop him, but failed, and the master of tectonics set off his device, wiping out Overbrook. Faultline disappeared and has not been seen since. The ruins of Overbrook have adopted his name, and many villains now inhabit the area. Faultline is primarily a hunting ground, with no contacts or stores. It’s all villains, all the time. The cracks in the ground make travel difficult for speedsters, as many of the gaping holes do not have exits. Watch your step or you’ll need to find someone to help you out of the pit. Flyers, jumpers and teleporters will have an easier time." I remember being sent there to hunt for some missions...the groups were nutter butters, especially Vahz at that still relatively low level. I remember taking one speedster through there...one.
