Depends on the map. Farming a map while hovering with mobs only having melee attacks is, well, insulting.
-
That's what Rebirth and Melee is for.
-
I find I still need Ageless on a /en build as the DDR isn't top shelf. I would go /shield. It will add what you want, add more AoE to EM, and wreck all the things.
-
Peak fire farming is still about Fire Def/Res, recharge, end, and damage. Hover blasting makes it a bit easier as you just need to cap Ranged Def for the def aspect which you can do by default and thus without changing a build for it. Capping Fire Res would mostly be grabbing the Fire Epic armor. IOs and Incarnates offer so much recharge it lessens the advantage of using a Kin. I don't have a Controller for farming as I have two Brutes built for it.

I was on a team today doing missions in Atlas and both other players mentioned having under 500 on them. I was on a newer character myself, and I just email enhancements as needed, so they were poor as well. At some point I should toss come currency around on my guys so they can help other players out. Granted, I should toss some currency on guys just to get some of the TP options opened. I delete guys too often so I feel like they have to earn that.

A controller feels more spell based than melee. Like, I could see something like a battle/war mage tank who's staff is used a an actual weapon versus casting spells. I can kind of see Corr, or Def, but I would still lean Controller. When I made a spell caster type I did Ill/dark. It depends on what kind of caster. Personally, I could do a very D&D fitting character and make them Plant/ta. A mage tends to have a backup weapon as need be. That doesn't help you, but I'm just saying a spell caster can be fairly open.

Either or with StJ. I like the higher HP with a Brute, but Scrapper ATOs are more fun. I keep trying SS waiting for it to kick in, but it simply doesn't. At some point I'll dust off my SS/elec Brute and give it a final go.

Ice/Regen - Why would you roll that on a Stalker!?
Without_Pause replied to Due Regard's topic in Stalker
I take Body at times because it uses so few slots I can chuck them elsewhere. Also, not all melee builds need ranged attacks. Sayin that, I did take Soul for my Ice/stone Brute as that has helped with my attack chain and more AoE. -
Note, Sentinels have a cap to their targets, possible lesser issue when soloing, but Beam with the way it chains ignores said cap. I believe /rad for them ignores it as well. Beam/mental also have two ways for -regen although that largely depends on how much big game hunting you want to do. I like /temp on a Blaster as well. Time for a Corr or Defender would be good.
-
To be honest, I play aggressively. I had less end issues when I held back and played casual.
-
I was playing my Rad/bio on that, IIRC. Not sure if it is related or not, but the Posi got bugged and had us on repeat for a mission. We disbanded and reformed although only a few came back.
-
What makes it worse/funnier is that it is Claws. Not Claw, but Claws.
-
More Grav/ta. Did a Posi 2 and hit and 19. Only genuine support as there was a Dom, but they are only kind of support. It was rough. But that can happen with a Post TF in the right instance. I will say I did get on a team with a defender and was welcomed when they saw I added control and the defender mentioned about how their job was going to be easier. That team did go smoother. It would be interesting to see how I would have done on the Posi in a similar situation having further leveled up and using any slotting. A con for me in terms of ranking Traps is how much better off the set is when you have time to actually set up.

Claws/Elec Armor build advice - Is this stupid?
Without_Pause replied to Sirens Fury's topic in Brute
I know I don't need it on a Scrapper, and I think it would be easily skippable outside of that where Spin has a longer recharge. I need to get back on my Claws/wp Brute to be honest to see how close I am. I need to fix the Incarnates on that build as well. /elec should be able to pull it off though at least in my head. I don't have a recharge number to make FU + Spin + Shockwave gapless. DN will be more helpful solo, but I would honestly wonder how much it is needed. -
Claws/Elec Armor build advice - Is this stupid?
Without_Pause replied to Sirens Fury's topic in Brute
Slotting for Mez in Soul Tentacles will obviously mean its damage is underwhelming, but I question if you even need it for an actual attack. It feels like it is more there for the set bonuses. The overall numbers look good though. -
As someone who solos red side, you still need to soft cap Energy Def which can be done. I'm at 41% currently, and it doesn't feel like enough when doing even +1/x8 missions at times. I'll take Malta with a token Sapper everyday of the week and twice on Sunday versus having to deal while a mass horde of Mu including at least one boss.
-
Claws would also work as it is End friendly. No slotting means it won't be as fast, but Focus and Shockwave can provide solid mitigation. Yes, you won't have the KB/KD proc, but I took a Claws/regen Scrapper to 50 without it, and honestly, it still works fine.
-
One of the happiest to hit 50 characters I have done was a Plant/storm since I knew I could use the alpha to fix end issues, and that's with at least common IO slotting. I would absolutely avoid Storm for something like this.
-
TA with Dark or Water for the added heal factor, but Defender ATOs offer a heal proc. Not saying it will save you. Fire because Oil Slick and Ice since it will keep things nicely bunched. You want a secondary which plays better at range though. I'm liking Gav/ta so far and I don't even have Wormhole yet, but Plant/ta would be incredibly good. Seeds + lit Oil Slick. Plant offers Regen as well. I got mine up to 17. I shot an arrow around a corner to the point it defied logic. That's a point for TA. Also, considering we are talking toggles, TA can get mezzed and the debuffs don't drop.
-
As someone who's alias is Without Pause and rails against long cast times, it has been far too recent for me to look at TA and notice the cast times. After obsessing over cast times for melee, I started to look at support and roll new characters based on what I saw. In a land of steam rolling +4/x8 content, cast times matter. A near two second difference can be another attack added in. Like, Disruption Arrow with Blaze versus just Tar Patch.
-
I honestly wonder how long a typical fights lasts. I highly doubt a mob takes 60 seconds to clear. 30 seconds seems long, TBH. I've done solo missions at x8 in like 8 minutes depending on the mission. Sure, for longer fights where an EB, AV, etc is involved those longer debuffs will be nice, but that feels rather specialized. Dark and Rad have an issue with the toggles in that on the right team they simply aren't used. The same type of power for TA can always be used and even before the fight starts. Related, I made Grav/ta, but it is too early for me to really say much of anything as the build is level 9, and I don't even have ATOs slotted.
-
Are we to assume solo because on a team it would be nearly any although a ranged character would better? I still think a blaster is best since you at least have the high damage to start with. You lack mitigation as a default so that's less impacted. Maybe a Scrapper or Stalker since those are also high damage but with mez protection although melee. Sents would also work as well. Damage output wouldn't be great though.
-
But then those toggles stick around now for a bit even after the anchor gets killed.

Unleash your mighty critique-powers upon my ss/rad/mu build! ヽ( ≧ω≦)ノ

Static Discharge doesn't seem that great one slotted. I would grab SJ instead. Also, I would swap Hurl with Cross Punch. -
Honestly, once I get the final crafting badge for 2,000 inventions I am thinking of semi-retiring from the market. 1. I will have 3+ billion sitting once done. 2. While I opened 100 Winter packs, I have the vast majority of it as I only slotted two sets. 3. I have 14 level 50s. Many of whom I want to play and a number of them have full builds already done. One character has two. 4. It is taking me more and more energy to roll a new character. 5. Builds I do tend to be reasonable in pricing. I just made changes to a planned build which means 10 less purples. This means by the sheer playing of my level 50s, crafting, and selling as needed, pretty much any build which needs IOs will have it without even touching the 3 billion. I counted out the converters I need for the badge. Merits go to other things now as drops will cover any number of converters I need. Granted, Merits more than covered converters already. I was just hell bent on using Merits for converters. I have a character sitting with 1k+ in Merits. Not sure how much of the pace of things have slowed down. I drop 10 stacks(100 bids) for recipes at a time and over the next days or how long they get filled, crafted, converted, and relisted. I'll get the badge soon enough and then it just using it as actually needed. The best thing for the market is new power sets. New power sets mean new characters and Pages. Pages bring people.
