Please revert the Rage change.
Burnt Toast replied to MalphiteMeIRL's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Unfortunately the damage has been done and people have moved away from HC because of this "fix." I know the 5 friends that left HC won't come back because they think the "devs" are a bit too heavy handed with the nerfs. I have other friends who have already deleted their SS toons and play less and less because that was their main toon. I hope in the future the devs do more testing and get more feedback on things; especially such game changing things as this "fix" was.... -
It doesn't matter WHY people don't want it... that's what you are failing to get. I do not have to justify my opinion on a change that frankly most people do not think is needed. I have given reasons... but you tried to insult me by suggesting I was a roleplayer and that roleplaying doesn't constitute a valid reason. You simply want to argue until people agree with you - I hate to break it to you, but that probably is not going to happen. I think it is a horrible idea and if it were (which thankfully I know it won't be) implemented on HC - I would abandon HC for another server. HC is not going to make radical changes to the core of the game play - which is why I suggested you just run your own server. People do not want this system you proposed... deal with it. You can keep posting over and over, but it's not something the majority wants. If I hadn't acknowledged that I was being disagreed with, I wouldn't have made any responses. The point is from what position does the disagreement come from. The arguments "this is the way it's always been" and "why bother" can get thrown out in opposition to any idea ever made and are equally invalid every time they do. If you want a look at what a sound argument looks like take a read of @justicebeliever's post. From that post I accept the conclusions since they are logically made and thus have to accept as a result, that if anything this should be a back burner suggestion. You do understand you would still be able to miss... right?

1. I have seen many people who have played from 1-50 who play horribly. Seen an Elect/Kin Controller lvl 50 on a Market Crash TF recently... No Speed boost and no Fulcrum Shift..why? Their answer "I don't need them." I can see skipping SB; especially on a tight build, but.. Fulcrum Shift? They chose instead to take the ... medicine pool. They had way too many badges to have been PLd. Oh and I forgot they did have Inertial Reduction (eyeroll). 2. Maybe a blaster drew too much aggro - there is a cap to how many people the tank can keep on them after all. 3. Blaster pulling with AoE - See #1. And... this is a thread about BUILDS not players :)

And I invite you to accept the scenario where people can and will disagree with you - welcome to the internet. People can disagree on here - you can take it personally or you can take it in stride. Your unwillingness to allow people to have their own opinions will not get you far in this forum. Sorry you presented an idea that the moajority of replies are against... it happens. Just an FYI you do not speak for the entire community and I would loathe a system of 100% to hit - so please do not put words into others mouths or assume "not a single member of this community would take such an idea..." You can keep twisting and refusing to acknowledge others valid opinions, but like I said - that will get you nowhere except probably ignored.

I just want to point out that the inherent is being looked at - nnot their primary or secondary powers. There has been absolutely no discussion (or need for a discussion) on changing the attack type.

Please revert the Rage change.
Burnt Toast replied to MalphiteMeIRL's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
That is just silly. That's like saying nerf Hasten and Stamina because someone will have Ageless. 1. Not everyone has a Destiny power even in level 50+ content. 2. Forcing people to rely on others to not die when your specific role is to make it so others don't die by maintaining aggro is ridiculous. 3. The "fix" was abandoned on Live as it was deemed punitive by the Paragon Devs and the beta testers. 4. Without Rage (since that is an option) SS because one of the lower damaging sets due to the high resistance of s/l by enemies. If you had actually played a SS on Live and now you would see how absolutely stupid this change is...and how it has caused many people to abandon their character and/or the Homecoming server. -
archetype suggestion Archetype Suggestion: The Duo
Burnt Toast replied to malonkey1's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The "other" person from what I can tell is a pet not an actual player. So it is like a limited MM with a mix of attacks/shields/buffs from the example. -
How about more than one automatic recast power?
Burnt Toast replied to Impact's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Part of the game play is actually paying attention and playing. Would I love two auto powers - sure - especially on a Dominator or on a /Shield character for mez protection. The absolute most I would ever support would be two...but even if that happened people would complain "why not three." -

Burnt Toast replied to MalphiteMeIRL's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It was removed from Issue 24 beta before the game shut down. After much discussion and data mining it was determined that it was not needed and was punitive to the set. I beta tested for 18 issues and know for a fact that the -Defense was not going to be pushed to Live. This is not to say that there were not other plans for Rage in the pipeline, but this... was not one of them. Things that were discussed: -5% Defense and -10% Resistance for 10 seconds instead of the -20% Defense Increasing the Recharge of Rage so that getting double Rage required A LOT of +recharge - while still maintaining the -Damage aspect Reducing the effectiveness of Rage altogether (Do not remember the exact numbers for that suggestion) - I do remember it brought SS to either the #2 or #3 spot damage wise if you had Perma. These were all options that were being openly discussed in Beta with the devs at the time. Sometimes you need a foam nerf bat and not a wooden one. Issue 24 change, not issue 25 change. So yes, it was on Live (The beta server counts). -
Didn't realize you were a game coder ;) If you think it's just one variable in one spot of the game that needs changed you are mistaken. Good news is that since you have the answer on how to do this you can always run your own private or small server and make the change.. no need for a dev team to consider and implenet. It's not a nuisance. I wouldn't want 15 minutes of dev time spent on something that is working as intended People may be testy because you joined the boards .. made almost no prior posts and frankly have come across as demanding and condescending. People have said why they don't want it and you continue to make dismissive remarks. you're not a victim.. no one is forcing you to play. I can guarantee you this will never change on any official server, but like I said.. feel free to run your own and make all the changes you want. These two points seem similar enough to address in one package. Previously in my response to @Rylas, I explained my personal reasons for disliking the clamp. You can go back there and read it if you wish. If you piece that together with the sentiments of the other posters who support my suggestion you can see that it all boils down to pretty much the same thing. Perhaps to sum it up this statement might work: Something doesnt have to be very bad, to count as a bad thing. On the other hand the sentiments so far in support of keeping the clamp in place have been somewhat illogical or based on a lack of understanding of it, which has led to some testy responses. With that in mind the question becomes whether this admittedly minor nuisance is worth fixing or not, my assumption is since it only requires the change of a single variable in the code it would be rather easy and therefore is well worth doing. If that assumption turns out to be wrong, no harm done making this suggestion to find that out.

But if the majority of people like the food the way it is...for whatever reason... why change it? I think you are suggesting something that not many people want and are offended that people; no matter what their reason, disagree with you. It happens... not everyone or the majority of people will always agree with your..or my..suggestions. If you cooked a delicious meal but spotted a small improvement you could make for next time that would take almost no effort, would you try that improvement out the next time you cooked the meal?

1, I do not roleplay... have no interest in it. 2. It makes no sense to always be able to hit an enemy. Just because this is a "fantasy" game where we can do super human things does not mean there shouldn't be limitations in place. The 5% RNG is one of those things. Calling it antiquated doesn't bolster your argument as almost all MMOs have an RNG in them when it comes to to-hit/defense/etc. 3. I suggest you tone down your reply. You asked for a reason - I gave one. It is one thing to disagree, but your snarkiness is not needed. So your reasons for keeping this arbitrary 5% to miss is because... roleplay? Sure people have given reasons - but none of them have been good, logical reasons. Also, saying that a 5% chance to miss somehow balances out the insane power scale of the game and makes our characters seem "mortal" is just absurd. Totally absurd. We can jump the height of skyscrapers, call down thunderbolts and such... but we're not God, no, because there's a 5% miss chance.
-
People have actually given their reasons.... I see no need for a change because frankly missing every now and then reminds me that I am not a God. If the rate was reduced even more it would simply feel stupidly easy. Super heroes miss in fights every now and then - this is what allows for the struggle between heroes and villains. If a hero landed every punch that would seem pretty stupid - enemies know how to evade...some do it better than others. The chance of missing is 5% not 10..or 20... 5%. Reducing that percentage takes away some of the "danger" of fighting enemies. You can call it archaic all you want, but the RNG in CoH is way more forgiving than most MMOs.

Please revert the Rage change.
Burnt Toast replied to MalphiteMeIRL's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yes that is what I meant. There was many discussions about this on the beta forums and it was decided by the Devs that the -Defense SHOULD be avoidable and it was changed to reflect that before going Live. I beta tested from Issue 6 all the way through 24. The -Defense was seen as too penalizing; especially on a non-tier 9 power. As for the condescending comments of "carrying purples" "pay attention" etc... way to talk down to people and heavily insinuate they are bad players because their defense is cut to shreds. The total number of friends who have now abandoned Homecoming for other servers just because of this change is now up to 4... doesn't seem like a lot I know, but it is a lot of friends for me to lose over a nerf that was never intended to be placed on Live after a lot of beta feedback and original developer decisions. Makes me wonder what the next nerf will be... hope it's not your favorite powerset. Actually.. it was. It was only when you refreshed Rage before it expired that you could avoid the -Def. I think he meant the unavoidable def crash was never on live. And to be fair, Rage was made to be easily perm-able, and the Dmg and End crashes were changed to be unavoidable while the def crash specifically was not. -
Auto heal LOL LOL LOL LOL. Putting your heal on auto is a great way to find yourself kicked from some teams.

You also get a free respec at levels 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50. All you have to do is type /respec in the chat window.

Burnt Toast replied to MalphiteMeIRL's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The -Defense was never on live - that was an Issue 25 change. The game closed... before Issue 24 was Live. Uh... the "real devs" did do something about it. The Rage crash fix went in well before the game sunset. It's not something that was added after the shutdown like the new Blaster secondaries and such. Still doesn't mean they were correct to do so of course. -
The Future - An Open Letter from the Homecoming Team
Burnt Toast replied to Jimmy's topic in Announcements
Homecoming has no obligation to advertise any other servers plain and simple. Maybe instead of planting trolls into the forums (not saying you are one.. I have read all your posts) to try and discredit Homecoming - they should focus more on things to make more people want to play on their servers. I for one have NO interest in playing on an Issue 24 server because... Sentinels. Most of my friends play on Homecoming (I have a couple who have left due to the Rage nerf). Would I rather play on a server where Incarnate Trials happened like they did on live (practically non-stop - you bet I would). Problem is Incarnate trials are not enough to pull me away from the things I love about the Homecoming servers. The Homecoming server crew have worked their butts off to provide CoH to those of us who have waited 6.5 years as well as new players. They were the first well-organized group to offer CoH to the masses. They continue to make changes in order to keep the playerbase happy (to an extent). I am constantly reading about CoH online and just discovered Rebirth etc... frankly I am not impressed by the caliber of their forums nor the number of players. You cannot blame Homecoming for appealing to the masses, for giving people their "fix", and frankly for being a better communicative team than the original Devs...and any of the other groups out there apparently. Don't get me wrong there are things I do not like that they have done, but overall I am very happy at Homecoming. Heck there were things about the original game I did not like, but I played every day from launch to the second it shut down. The lower population servers need to find something to lure more players to them instead of complaining that Homecoming is "monopolizing" the playerbase. "You now have the power to run your own server!" ignores the massive necessity of the "massively multiplayer" bit of "MMORPG" which at the moment homecoming is monopolizing. So yes, we're allowed to criticize them for running their servers poorly. -
Thanks - I think my brain was having a major fart. I had already did this in one base, but for the life of me couldn't figure out why I couldn't in this one LOL.
-
I wanted to create an outside park inside my base. Now to clarify I only want an outdoor sky in one room (8x8 room). I have tried adjusting the sky type through the menu option.. I have tried adding sky with the sky sections inside the room, but neither of these work. Is there no way to create ONE room with a sky? My base is basically complete except for this one room so deleting it and doing the whole "build outside the base" thing is not an option.

I don't think we ever need to worry about a "healing" arrow. The debuffs are somewhat weaker on a Corruptor than a Defender, but when you take into account the increased Damage from a Corruptor - it evens out.

No one is saying anyone HAS to donate, but I know many people who WANT to donate that missed the donation window since it closes so fast. I am willing to bet the majority of players would gladly donate $5 a month considering they are playing 10-20-30-40 hours a week - $5 for that much entertainment a month is pretty cheap. I just feel that those who truly want to donate, but can't be here the 30-45 mins that donations are open should be allowed to contribute.
-
I would love to see a change to the donation process next month. I missed the chance to donate this month and actually was kind of upset. Here is how I think it should be: Donations open for 24 hours with a maximum donation of $5 per account. If after 24 hours the goal has not been met then it is opened to regular donations of any amount. This will allow more people to actually donate. I know it seems silly because "Why would we do that when we can get the funds in an hour?" Well... because some of us would like to actually be able to support the game financially. It makes us feel more invested in the future of the game. I can't sit by my computer on the first of each month hoping I get in that 30 minute window to actually donate. This would would make me feel a lot better knowing that even my $5 went towards keeping the lights on.

Thank you :) That's where it was :)

Yeah I know about those.. I just prefer laying a "floor" in the air - to lay my actual second floor hehe. I'm old school :)
