  1. This is not true. The "chance for knockback" (20% afaik) only applies to powers that don't have a knockback effect. If the power already has a knockback effect the IO turns the knockback to knockdown, but some powers would be too powerful if they would repeatedly knockdown 100% of the time (like bonfire). The chance is reduced from 100% knockback (which would happen only once) to approximately 20% knockdown since foes stay inside the patch once the knockdown is applied and can be knocked down several times. However, bonfire is still stupidly strong with the IO and gives blasters a chance to take a reliable knockdown patch that deals damage and outperforms skills like ice slick or earthquake.
  2. True. The flickering animation is really annoying.
  3. Kelly Rocket has a nice Earth/Nature build. She's pretty active on discord. Edit: ...and in this thread
  4. But why? It would synergize so well with your Fire/Dark build.
  5. Yeah. There seem to be huge inflation spikes during the weekend. I was buying "Brass" for about 500 each ... a few minutes later the search shows that the last few "Brass" went for 10.000 inf. So I tried and listed some of mine for 9,500 inf and they sold immediately. An hour later they were back at 770 inf each.
  6. Well that's the fun part about dual pistols. You can decide between knockback, dot-damage, slow or -dmg depending on your choice of ammo. Sadly I haven't found a fitting concept yet. I tend to like secondaries that do things in addition to damage. Both /Dark and /Rad provide debuffing as well as damage. In my opinion, a /Rad defeder makes enemies melt faster than a /Fire defender because of the debuffing. YMMV.
  7. I tried stacking Artic Air and World of Confusion and didn't really feel satisfied. The range of World of Confusion is smaller than Arctic Air and the confuse of AA is too short. While I really love Elec control the chain confuse can be pointless on fast clearing teams. The jumping animation is quite longish and often the whole group is already arrested before all of the jumps happened. I think Plant right now would be your best bet. You get the power early, it has a fairly low cooldown and imho outperforms the other confuse abilities. If only they would lower the cooldown of Mass Confusion then Mind Control with two confuse spells would probably be your best bet.
  8. The only Controller I ever played paired with /Sonic was my Earth/Sonic "Resinance". There was a guide on the old forums "I feel the earth move" by HotButteredSoul that inspired me. I never got him to maxlevel though. It was more of a concept/rp character. /Sonic is kind of dull. I wish it was lower on the end-cost and had more utility abilities. This is sadly true for many of the "older" powersets.
  9. The devs should add an absorb mechanic to FF just like in Spirit Ward from Sorcery.
  10. Just tried this combo. Damn! This is going to be my Solo character. The rearranged skills in Dark make the powerset super fluid early on.
  11. For Earth/Storm I would consider not skipping Thunderclap since it can stack with Stalagmites. I have skipped the single target immob, salt crystals and snow storm. I might pick snow storm later.
  12. I have 3 pages of Controllers right now. I am having the most fun with Elec/Traps, Mind/Dark, Earth/Storm, Ice/Time and Grav/FF on teams so far. For solo play I would probably pick my Ill/Traps.
  13. Time Crawl has been really handy for me fighting "hard" targets like Redlynne suggests. "Hello, Silver Mantis".
  14. Good read on that topic: https://web.archive.org/web/20120904193426/http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=121712
  15. Yeah, it's not 100% anymore when you slot the KB>KD into Bonfire.
  16. Since there is no Controller Primary that adds -Res I think this would be a good place to start with. Increase the confused duration in AA from 3.7 to 5.0 and reduce the End usage Make Shiver a PBAoE that applies -Res Flash Freeze applies -Regen (comparable to Time Crawl from Time Manipulation) Reduce Ice Slicks recharge to 60s and let it apply -Res Oh... in addition Ice and Storm Powers should have the same color palette for recoloring available as Earth.
  17. If only there was a Low Visual FX option for some of the skills in Nature. Otherwise, it is a great combination! :)
  18. Same here. Although I prefer Tactics over Assault during leveling for most of my builds.
  19. /Traps, /Storm and /FF would be my top choices for Gravity. Conceptwise I enjoy my Grav/FF the most.
  20. Right now I can't really decide between my Elec/Traps and Elec/Time. They are both so much fun. I guess I'll level both to 50 and have a closer look with sets and incarnate abilities.

    /Traps

Yep it's hilarious! For teamplay I prefer my Plant/Traps though. Seeds of Confusion + Acid Mortar + Poison Trap is nuts.
  22. And Clockworks! Try Positron TF with Jolting Chain spam. Your team will love you... not!
