  1. @Clave Dark 5 I was referring to @Spaghetti Betty's reply and how she rationalises it. Oh, and I forgot to mention. I usually proc out my MM henchmen instead of slotting for damage.
  2. The general rule I use for my toons is 1) if it's a major power, I slot it straight forward often 6-slotting an entire set (most of which come with a proc anyway). 2) if It's a power that accepts different IOs, then I go with Betty's logic. So it's funner for me to find a power I can Frankenslotting to squeeze every bit out of it. 3) if it's a meh power, but part of my rotation (like T1 and T2 primaries of blasters which I always take) then a proc makes a big difference... sometimes doubling the damage. and finally, if there's a power that has a goldilocks recharge as GM Kal pointed out (though I rarely do the math) then I try to stick a proc in it if I can. Often, I would slot to address a power's acc, end, recharge, damage... in that order of priority. Once the power has been fine-tuned to my rotation, and I have slots to spare then I stick a proc in. Also, I tend to use procs thematically. For example, my Kheldian would rather slot Touch of Death +chance of negative energy damage instead of Mako's lethal... because Kheldians are energy creatures. Similarly, my DP/Ninja would lean towards lethal. Some of my favourite procs are the utility ones like -recharge, -res, +hold, +disorient that give my damage powers something extra or +psionic damage for the otherwise damageless hold/cc powers

    Rad/NRG Blapper

one of my early fave blappers, so much so that I have 2 of them. I didn't take much of the primaries since I found them slow to animate, so I rely mostly on the t1, t2, snipe + melees of the secondary. quite enjoyable indeed. clicky, yes, but still enjoyable and stronk. Unfortunately, I don't use MIDs and I'm too lazy to type out the build. on most of the slotting, I tried to build for range def to offset the immobs and stuns. I'll need to revisit the build since I haven't played them after the new IOs (which I utilise a lot one recent builds) were released. Let me see if I can be motivated enough to post the build on a later date.
  4. Incidentally, I've heard (from someone who knows someone) that a certain faction within the CoT are merging with some Carnival folk. They will hence be known as the Circle of Thongs.
  5. a few of my favourite doms are mind/savage, elec/elec and dark/martial. each one has a slightly different play style, but I don't know if that's due to the powers or my utter noobness. all are fun in their own way. I tried Ice/Ice, but it doesn't really do it for me. haven't tried plant or thorns yet.
  6. This has happened to one of my toons as well. It was definitely the first arc, the Badge mission. I had GW as my patron contact. But before I could get to the end, I helped a friend complete their patron (BS) arc. Doing so should've awarded me with the Stinger badge and opened up the 4 patron pools. Nay to both. I don't know if it was because I had an active patron arc or if it was because my toon was a Praetorian refugee. Had to settle for a blue epic pool. =(
  7. Yes, putting boosted IOs in the AH is one way to remove the boosts.
  8. Is it a costume problem or a name problem that won't let it register?
  9. Hey Sanx =). The same is true once you've finished his arc. you'll still have him as a contact and will still give you missions if he still has them for you. Similarly, other contacts behave this way while you're in their level range. Some have repeatable missions, some badge missions (a single mission that awards a badge) some don't. Once you've out-leveled them, you still get to finish arcs (with book icons next to your contacts) you're currently doing for them, for example Operative Wellman caps at level 19. But if you start the arc at 19, you can still continue the 3-part mission arc if you're 20 or 21. But if you approach him at level 20 before starting the arc, he'll ignore you even after being introduced by Marshall Brass. I usually consult the wiki regarding contacts' level ranges and try to start the arc before I out level them. One trick I've noticed when you're in a particular contact's level range is you can accept a side mission, abandon it, and ask about available mission again until you get the arc or badge mission.
  10. @Dungeoness Wow. thanks. I suppose it takes the system a while to display it. Thanks. Now I have to rework my build. 😃
  11. Hi @meyerwolf406. I was just wondering... in the build you shared above, you put ImpArm Res/Psi in the 4 Luminous Aura Toggles. I tried that, but my stats didn't change. Do they help at all since the 4 toggles don't have any Psi component that the IO can enhance... unlike the Aegis unique. P.S. I don't have MIDs. I just check the combat attributes before and after slotting.
  12. Why would you take XP away from AE? They already took double inf away which caused quite a stir when it was implemented. I play AE for a few reasons: one is to play content that people painstakingly crafted. some of those are really good, arguably better than some of the regular missions. Second reason is to hang out with friends who happen to be farmers and just shoot the breeze. Third is the rarest and that is to actually PL a concept that I don't deem a priority to grind. Others I'm sure will have their own reasons, and I don't mind. As others have pointed out, and I'm not smart enough to, farmers help the in-game economy.Just because something doesn't fit my view of how the universe should be doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong. For all I know I could be the one that's wrong. I for one like to learn about a toon's powers by earning them slowly, changing my tactics as I gain more powers, re-shuffling slotting and IOs along the way. I also am not fond of AoEs and nukes. Another bloke may prefer to learn a toon when everything is available to him (level 50). So as long as their version of fun isn't taking away from mine and vice-versa, I'm good.
  13. I see you're a Kheldian. So the only answer I can offer is...
  14. A mind/savage dom is quite strong minimally slotted pre-20. Not sure if the range secondaries will be your thing, but the pair up offers a wide variety of powers that should keep you entertained. Another suggestion is Pistols Ninja or Martial Blaster. 😃 Enjoy Goldside.
  15. @Krimson I tried RPing in Everlasting as well, upon the nudging of some friends. Unfortunately, before I could even get my feet wet, the wifi gods made life difficult for my third world internet to fully enjoy that shard. On bad days, I couldn't even turn around in my base, let alone a crowded venue. So yeah, I moved some of my toons to Torch and Indom. The lower population leaves me to RP with just my multiple personalities, but at least the game moves.
  16. Most of my toons are techy-utility belt kind of peeps. So some of my favourite costume parts are the Stealth chest detail and the tactical/imperial defense belts. I tend to lean towards Jet boots, packs and Jet wings for flight--I hope they can port the Jump Pack Temp power (from 3rd mayhem mission) into the costumes as it looks way cool. Some powers that blast from the hand usually have some tech explanation, like the large robotic gloves, resistance gloves, etc. And then on some, like /Devices or /Traps, i cough up some inf for a Vanity pet that follows me around carrying my supplies.
  17. Wouldn't it be cool if we were offered the choice of rendition? Like go Arcane, Batman Animated (circa 90s???), Anime Fan Service, or realistic like more recent games. There's a game I used to play that I loved the look--Torchlight. Not sure if it'll work for this one. So we're all playing the same game, but my view of Paragon City is different for yours. Of course, I wouldn't know how feasible that would be, just a pipe dream.
  18. I don't think it's a matter of AT, but more of power sets. Dual Pistols, for example is a ranged power, but it forces you to go into melee range a lot of times. Same with a lot of Corruptor secondaries like Dark, Rad and Poison. Ice and Fire also have some short ranged and quite a lot of PBAoEs that again make you get into the thick of things for them to be truly effective. Having a ranged attack but fighting melee style just means less chasing buggers around. As for not being squishy enough to be in the middle of everything, def and res are not the definitive stat. You can go dominator (which have a nice mix of range and melee attacks) and use your controls to limit attacks on you. You don't need def and res if your enemy is held and can't attack you. My /elec dom can nonchalantly walk into enemy mobs because he drains end so fast that they can't attack even if they're not held or under any status ailment.
  19. Ah. I see. Sorry, I misread AE for AH. You're right, can't view owned and Vendor recipes at the same time. Pretty much the same with Crafting Table and your own stash, and I suppose AE vendor would be the same. And yes, your suggestion would be helpful. A simple fix would be to put something like what we already have in our own stash--Hide unowned and missing ingredients (bottom right button of recipes window). If they can add an option to hide owned recipes (as they already have missing ingredients) and which they do have for the crafting table... which I think is odd... it would be helpful.
  20. Specialized missions??? Don't be a wuss. No AE. =)
  21. I got one better (or worse) for all you masochists: No training challenge. I started some a few months ago, ones that stuck are Katana/WP and Savage/Bio Scrappers. No training, so you're stuck with T1/T2 primary and T1 secondary + Brawl, Sprint/Slide, Health, and Stamina with just one slot each. No P2W.
  22. I think they should expand the Weeklies to other arcs and not just Task/Strike Forces. I've been playing constantly for 3 years now and I still come across arcs (and good ones, at that) that I've never done before. I dunno, just to create some awareness as to what some people may be missing. Sure most of them will not have an AV/EB at the end, but the merits should be reward enough--and some of them give a buttload of merits, too. So imagine doubling them, or maybe reward with a purple recipe???
  23. Yes, yes there are. but one is available at 27 or something. OP said he's only level 16
  24. Mind/Savage may fit your bill. Mine's a vampire =). The range attacks aren't so good, so you're stuck with melee. Dark/Martial is another fun one. Earth/Earth is another good one, but it tends to get noisy with all the rumbling. And I've heard good things about plant and thorns, but I haven't tried them myself.
