Has there ever been, either in the original game, or Homecoming, a "Danger Room" scenario, for lack of a better phrase? (I think there's a specific name for it in gaming, but I've forgotten it, so I'm using a comic book reference.) That is, a room or instance where players enter and the goal is not survival to an end, but survival increasingly difficult waves for as long as possible. Start with a simple level one, gradually move towards levels where the sheer number of opponents, combined with their ranking will eventually overwhelm even the best players. I'm guessing if it existed, it was probably an AE creation. I realize culling hordes is what farming is, but I gather that has been tuned for quickly dispatching scores of opponents, not a survival scenario.

I was reading old posts of mine back in the original game forums, and found a thread I'd started that, curiously, I'd been thinking about just this week, well over a decade after posting it. Weird. Anyway, I found it an interesting discussion back then so I thought I'd bring my OG post forward into the Homecoming forums just to see what people came up with this time. In-game, as well as superhero portrayals in many venues, ice powers seem to be displayed as being "pushed" from the caster to the target. Its been decades since high school science, but I seem to recall that cold was an absence of heat, that is, that heat had been drawn away. Is this correct? If so, would it not be more accurate for a ice power to create cold or ice by "pulling", parasitically drawing heat from the intended target? In essence a ice blaster would be a living, overpowered heat sink. Of course, this could cause issues if there was no easy way to dispel the received heat. An ice/fire blaster would be one solution. This is not to say that a technological solution could not push a stored, frozen mixture out. My fall in front of a snow-blower on the ski slopes taught me that much. Thoughts?

Thanks! Found it! I went under a different nom de plume back then. I'd complete forgotten about that alias. Looks like I've got a ways to go to catch up to my past self on postings.

Where does one go to see their old forum post count? (That's assuming I remember my old forum name, that is.)

Steam notified me that a game on my wish list, Everspace, is on sale. It's expansion, Everspace: Encounters is also on sale. I use a Steam wish list as a "hey I took a 5-minute look and its seems good", not a "I've done an in-depth analysis, and this is the game for me when it is on sale". So...has anyone played it at length and can comment on the pros and cons?

I'm getting the distinct impression that we'll only get a partial victory at the end of this miniseries, or perhaps I should say "season" because the number of warriors, no matter how skilled, is looking rather thin on Boba's side to go to a full-scale war with the Pykes. It feels more like the last episode of season 3 of Star Wars: Rebels, where the Rebels had a survival victory, but didn't destroy the Big Bad of the series. So maybe Boba defeats the current Pykes on planet, and perhaps convinces most of the Mos Eisley underworld to side with him, but episode 7 ends with a Big Bad stepping forward having taken note of the Fett resistance. Just typing that out makes me wonder if the Big Bad, should they exist, is someone we know already from other Star Wars lore. Let the speculation begin!

I'm not sure "compelling" is the right word. "Consistent" would be more like it. Boba's first ground fight after recovering his armor in The Mandalorian was absolutely glorious, and everything the fans had hoped for. Somehow in TBoBF, the writers have strayed from that path. Not entirely, the Nikto slaughter proves that, but there's definitely a difference in what they give Tem to work with. Here's hoping for a return to form for the final episodes of what is likely season 1.

I know I've not been everywhere in the game, but this one has me stumped. Where is it? Is it Mot in the Dark Astoria revision?

In answer to your hidden comment regarding the "side mission", it is a Chekov's Gun. It's been revealed, so at some point it must be done, or at least attempted.

Okay, this is definitely the first episode where I have to be in agreement with some critics. (But please don't let my opinion stop you watching it. There's some great stuff in the episode!) Major Spoilers ahead:

It may be a common location or it may not be generally known. It may be an instance, or possible affected by the time of day or night. It may be anything from a scenic landscape to a dramatic statue. What do you consider to be the most spectacular view anywhere in the game? Location info and screenshot are preferable. If your resolution is low, that's fine. You might ask viewers of the thread who have better graphics to take a screenshot.

Playing a fun little mod-friendly village building & survival game from Steam called Founders' Fortune and heavily experimenting with the mods for it. Recently, I'd been experimenting with Empyrion: Galactic Survival, but found it was just too huge a game for the amount of time I can dedicate to playing. It did seem impressive, though.

I play radically different video games, and by that I mean ones that are not MMOs, and don't resemble CoH in the slightest. The change of direction keeps things fresh. In game, I try new things, and I'm not necessarily referring to running missions. I've worked on badges recently and dabbled in improving my base building. (thanks for the instructions videos @Dacy). I've studiously avoided farming, but once I get all my 50s up the Incarnate ladder, I'll probably start investigating the AE listings, and might try my hand at designing scenarios.

At least with the sounds, you should be able to load @Solarverse's sound mod for Psychic Blast. Can't help you with the rest, though.

I would never shoot a fireball into a thug's bum. I only shoot fireballs directly into their face. I'm too much of a gentleman to do otherwise. Besides, a great many of them call out "Face Me!", and so I oblige.

I read that hearing Maurice LeMarche's voice in my mind. 😁 ( Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3) "Tolkien White Guy" is likely the greatest pun I've read in a long time! Don't know much about Ironheart so this should be interesting, or perhaps just a curiosity. I'm really unsure of this film. Its very hard to see it having the impact of the first one without T'Challa. I've said it elsewhere, but the character should transcend the actor. I suppose it is possible that it will get a boost from either those who go see it as a memorial to Chad, or those who go see it simply from a curiosity to see how they will make a Black Panther story without T'Challa. I suppose it makes sense to have Doom in the picture, if it happens. Latveria and Wakanda have an old antagonistic history. Doom may even be a villain of a high enough caliber to off T'Challa without the fans getting upset that a lesser destroyed the Black Panther. I'm guessing a death where T'Challa is not seen (or only briefly seen using technology similar to Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One) like a bomb in the royal shuttle, etc. Come to think of it, Atlantis and Wakanda have an even greater hostility for each other. At some point, they may end up doing a Black Panther movie where the antagonist is Attuma or Namor.

It actually happened - I thought it was just a legend

Isn't that type of comment supposed to be followed by a "Profession X hates it"? -
Yes, agreed, don't want to derail the thread but I must extend my best wishes for health to your family. I do hope your father pulls through and that your wife somehow improves. The game is a retreat from the cares of the real world, but it need not demand isolation from it. And it sounds like Brooklyn Italians are not so different from Chicago Italians (my bro-in-law's kin). 😉 Here's hoping a fighting spirit will empower a fighting body.

Doc Strange's MoM Has A Tease
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
We're presuming all of these would be alternate universes, yes? Adding a surprise cameo of Snipes in his Blade role would whet the appetite of the audience for the upcoming Blade reboot, though I'd love to see him as say a Rhodey/War Machine variant. I'd very much like to see Quake, and with her, a tie back into the MCU via an alternate universe acknowledgement for Agents of SHIELD A brief Jackman appearance as Wolverine makes sense as it would finally, formally establish the X-men as part of the MCU, even if Jackman's version is another universe and not the final MCU one. But I really think the Captain Carter one should be brought to live action, and if I heard correctly, Hailey thinks so as well. Deadpool, for the same reason as given for Quake and Wolverine Chris Evans as Johnny Storm for the same reason as Snipes with Blade. And it would give Chris a bit of fun tapping into his old role. Strictly of those pictured, I'd personally pick: 1. Captain Carter 2. MCU Quicksilver (Aaron) - having an alternate of Wanda's dead (and true) brother might really mess with her mind in the show. And it would give Aaron a chance to play the character again, hopefully with some corrections to bring it more in line with the Fox version. 3. Fox Quicksilver (Evan) - why two Quicksilvers? Wouldn't you want to see them team up? -
Eternals - now "free" on Disney+
Techwright replied to DougGraves's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Would that be one of the Koenigs or M.O.D.O.K.? If the former, that may be the first interesting thing I've heard about The Eternals. Normally I'm all excited for any Marvel movie. I've just heard so much "meh" about this one, and I gather that it has kind of distanced itself from the main path of the movies (as @Glacier Peak notes) that it probably will be the first Marvel movie on which I'll take a pass. Just let me see the tidbits, if any that tie into the main MCU arc and I'm good. To be honest though, I've always preferred the street level storytelling of Marvel. To me, whenever Marvel shoots up to the "phenomical cosmic power" level, I'm always left feeling it is out-of-control "magic" scaling. In short, I'd much prefer a Captain America scale to the story than a Galactus scale.
