Hmmm, interesting. I honestly didn't know that those values were stacked with a nonexistent Lucky. I can also say that I have never taken Evasion on a Stalker. I have never had issues with AoE kitting me on my stalker, either, despite the fact that I never took it in to my build...that was even before IOs came out. I mean, they would hit me occasionally, but rare. Thank you for the nontypical answer though, you have given me a bit to think on. Appreciate it, @Uun.

I'm sure this question has been brought up at least once and I am betting it was even suggested a time or two on the Suggestion Forums...which leads me to my personal opinion followed by three questions. Opinion: Evasion on a Stalker just simply put has never made any sense even from day one of CoV. Stalkers already get AoE Defense with Hide and having yet another toggle (remember, Hide used to cost endurance) was just overkill on a set that has no endurance recovery bonuses. That set has always been an endurance hog, even after Hide was changed to cost zero endurance, it's still hard on Endurance. However, even if I were to be completely wrong about that information, when we look at the set today, the way so many things avoid Defense in the end game by obliterating Defense with Defense Debuffs, it becomes clear that Stalkers really could use the scaling resists granted by Lucky. I am thinking you would be hard pressed to find any Stalker who actually takes Evasion in to their build, and I am betting that it has always been this way for Stalkers. So IMHO, it was just a bad choice by the OG Devs to have Evasion in the build instead of Lucky. Question 1: Does anyone even take Evasion in their builds? If so, mind giving your reasons outside of, "I use it for Shield Wall or LotG." Question 2: Does anyone know if the OG Devs has ever given their reasoning behind putting Evasion in the build instead of Lucky? I can't imagine it being for any balance reasons, since Evasion grants more AoE Defense than Lucky. Question 3: Assuming this has been suggested in the Suggestion Forums a time or two, what was the final consensus on that subject; if any? Or was it another tug-of-war suggestion that simply got buried in the arguments as most of those types of suggestions often go?

honoroitisfantastic Would you pvp for prisms?
Solarverse replied to honoroit's topic in General Discussion
PvP has been completely broken in this game and is no longer fun. Nerf after nerf after nerf has lead to too many meta PvP builds. Once upon a time, an Ice/Cold Corruptor was valid with their slows. Now, slows barely affect movement and you can't even notice a slow recharge affect. Saps used to work, now they are a joke. Holds, Immobs, CC in general is also a joke. Now PvP is all about damage damage damage, resist resist resist (because defense is also a joke now) and Super Speed + Superjump, all other travel powers deemed useless. I miss PvP in this game, PvP was very fun in this game until the introduction of IOs. Around that same time came nerf after nerf and it all completely destroyed PvP for hard core PvPers such as I once was. The PvP in this game is so far beyond broken, it cannot be fixed. I will never PvP in this game again, not even for my beloved badges. Sorry, I used to love PvP and I lived in Warburg and RV, I was very good at it, but after all the nerfs over the years brought on by crybabies, never again. P.S. Yes, I am bitter, salty and a mad bro. TLDR; Sorry, I would not PvP in this game ever again....even if it meant that I had to do it in order to save this game from having the plug pulled again.- 140 replies

Hurricane for me is only used when I pull aggro while I am off at a ranged distance. Like you, I also turn Steamy Mist off if asked, thing is, nobody asked me, this dude just started pointing fingers and started in at me to "educate me" as he put it...so I turned it off to shut him up. I simply shook my head at his ignorance and went on about my business. However, I kept in mind that I had been gone a while, and wanted to be sure that something had not changed since I was gone before determining that his complaints were unfounded. Not being here for a while, I knew it was possible that something had changed that I was not aware of.

Nobody has a louder voice than me...don't even try me bud, I'll break out the megaphone on your candy ass.

I personally feel that it went from one extreme to the other. Going from unlimited to 13 is...well, stupid. It should have been more like 35 to 50, at least enough to gather aggro of an entire room, but not enough to get the aggro of an entire map. Judging from conversations over the years in game, it would indicate the majority of players want this, however, the majority of player do not post the forums, so we have forum posters who have the loudest voices on the subject. However, I feel 13 always has been far too low and unlimited has always been far too high. But, like most games, you either get far too much or far too less, there is almost never a happy medium.

How to ruin it for your teammates in one easy power
Solarverse replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
I can attest to this, back during live, I found the single bug that negatively affected the game that this game has ever seen, a bug that crashed entire zones and could be repeated on command. I was told that I would be nominated for the Bug Finder Badge...I never got it. That badge is the hardest badge to get known to humankind. -
I remember people taking it, but only as a prerequisite to Phase Shift. Stalkers would take it regularly if they PvPed so that they could stack it with Hide, outside of that, my memory serves the same as yours does, rarely people took it otherwise. Not to say I never seen it, but it wasn't rather all that common. Remember, you had to take Stealth (which came with a movement speed debuff) or Invis Other before you could get Invisibility back in those days. Also, you could not attack while being invisible, you had to turn it off before using any powers that affected other players. It was simply just too much pain outside of PvP. Defenders might take it to play around with Hami...that is the most common use I found, heh.

I am open to test it out if you like. My girlfriend and I both have a /Storm Corruptor, so we can both assist in testing this. (assuming we both play on the same server. I play Excelsior.)
-
Doh! So it does, but now I am confused. I thought people were trying to tell me that it does not. Edit: However, after seeing Booper's response, that clears up the confusion, thanks. 🙂

Okay, good. So the Defense and Resist values stack, however, the Stealth values do not. Thanks for the clarification. I suspected as much, but after having that tiff with the other player, I wanted to be absolute sure that nothing has changed since I had left the game.
-
Just to be clear, although I do believe you covered this; are you saying the my Steamy Mist and another player's Steamy Mist will not stack the Resist and Defense stats? Or is it just the Stealth that won't stack? (although I must say I do not believe the Stealth ever did stack...not that I can remember anyway.)

Had a simmering argument with another player today over my use of Steamy Mist on my Ice/Storm Corruptor. It went a little something like this. (Short Version) Player A (I won't name the guy) on Moonfire went to grab the NPC at the end of the mission. most of us were fighting our way through and were somewhere in the center of the mission map, nowhere near the Player A who was trying to grab the hostage. Player A grabs the hostage, Player B uses Teleport to bring all of us back to the mission door, but the hostage did not teleport, the hostage stayed behind and died, mission failed. Next thing I know, Player A is going on about how Stealth causes NPCs to lose track of you and not follow. Of course, I thought everyone knew this by now, but meh, whatever. I checked Player A's build and he did indeed have Stealth in his build. No biggie, who cares is what I thought. Didn't say a word other than give support to the statement of Stealth causes NPCs to lose track of the player they are following. Next thing I know, Player A is ripping me for having Steamy Mist in my build and says that stealth is better and that nobody wants a player on their team with an AoE Stealth. At this point I am confused as to why this dude, who lost the NPC, is harping on me and my powers, especially since I was nowhere near the guy when he lost the NPC. I argued that I have been playing the game since it was first released and I don't think I am going to be letting some other player dictate to me which powers I can play and which I cannot. He went on to say how he also played since day 1 (and proceeded to tell me that a /Storm Troller was his first character and knows the set in and out; as if most of us hasn't had extensive experience with every powerset in game by this point...20 years and all) and argued that Steamy Mist was useless and Stealth from the power pool was superior. I mentioned that Stealth was not superior, since Steamy Mist grants resists to Fire/Cold/Energy/Confuse. I let it go from there because, well...it was my team, I was team lead, I put the team together, and if he was going to continue being an ass, I was just going to boot him from the TF and be done with the guy. Thankfully he also let it go, so I didn't have to give him the boot after all. So here is my issue; minus the fact that I had absolutely nothing to do with this Brute who lost the NPC, not once has anyone ever dished on Steamy Mist like that in what, 20 years now that I have been playing? Why the hate on Steamy Mist all of a sudden? I have been gone from the game for a year or two and just came back, has something transpired since I took a break till now that I am not aware of? What was this dude's trip? I could understand had I been in the room with him running it (which I would not have) and caused his problem, however, I had zero to do with any of that. So I am not sure what his malfunction was. I'm just glad I am 48 years old now and not the 28 year old I was when this game came out...otherwise I would have told the guy to @&#$!% off and booted the guy. Anyway, after having that conversation, it made wonder what the general consensuses is on Steamy Mist. What is your personal take on it and why? And please, don't give me that, "play what you want, it's as good as the player makes it" nonsense; I will most certainly play what I want...nobody is going to tell me what I can and cannot use on my character. However, I'm looking for real reasons people hate it or love it and hopefully figure out why this dude made such a controversy over it. What is your personal opinion of the power, and why? Thanks ahead of time.

Hmmm, interesting. I can honestly say that I have not considered that aspect before, primarily because I have never witnessed a Tank use this method. However, I can see your point of view on it. And yeah, I have said all I care to say on the subject as well, this is a dead horse that was beaten to death back in issue 1. It remains something that I wish I had, but also remains something that I do not have and may never have. Although I did quit playing the game for almost two years before coming back, it had nothing to do with knock back, lol. See yaon the next thread, Ultra. 🙂
-
They both share the same balance role, they both give the player a break from damage, however, whether you knock them back or knock them down has more to do with play-style than it does balance. They are the same exact Crowd Control type but have different values. If the values of the KB is to be used as a meter to this balance, then using numbers alone, without any personal opinions would dictate that KB is more powerful than KD, which means in terms of balance, KD is less than KB and allowing players to use less values to turn it to KD should not be considered a balance issue, nobody is asking for a power's secondary effect to be more, mathematically they are asking for it to be less. This in turn would not be anything more than preference.
-
🤬 There is nothing! You LIES!
-
You had me up till this point. That is opinion, one in which I do not agree, since there is no balance in KB to KD, that would be preference, not balance.
-
Wait what? Is that a thing now? Been gone almost 2 years, soooo, if that is a thing, tickle me pink! If it's not a thing, then that was just mean!
-
Brutes and Tanks were fine until we let villains become heroes and vice/versa. Now we have a conundrum where both can be either and as the ol saying goes (except toward Tanks in this instance) "There can only be one." If there is a need to re-imagine Brutes, it should be done from the standpoint of, "Brutes are not Tanks." Other than that, I don't really care one way or the other what is done with Brutes, since I never have played them. I have always preferred Tanks, even before Tanks were cool, heh.
-
Why did you cough? Give me KB to KD option on ALL POWERS!!!! (without the use of an IO that literally wastes a slot...) There, I said it, I know I will take heat for it, but I'm a tough guy, I can take it! lol
-
It does not say "me maw...." It says, "HEE HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW" Don't even try me. I will cut you on this one.

Edit: I think enough has already been said. I retract my statement.

Glad you speak their language, because I honestly was confused as to what exactly they wanted. Thanks for being the interpreter.
-
People are confused, because taunt does no damage. Unless something has changed? However, the last time I have played my Tank...which was today, there was no damage associated with the ability. Then, when asked if your request was to give Taunt damage, your response was a wrongly spelled, "wut" This confused us even more, because it seemed like you might have been requesting this, since taunt does no damage, yet you were speaking as if it does do damage. Then when asked to clarify because people are trying to understand, all you said was, "illusion." So what are we to make of this? You made absolute zero sense to us. You spoke in riddles instead of actual English. Is English not your first language? That could possibly explain why we are not understanding you. If it is not, I suggest try using Google Translate, that might help.

I was going to comment on this thread, but after reading it, I'll pass. It feels like a trap.
