Yes, but I don't recall seeing players using leet speek until after the generic names started drying up. Like I said, I am not 100% on any of this, but this is how I remember it.

Not 100% on this, but I am fairly certain the only reason leet speak existed in this game was of because players not being very creative with names. We didn't see leet speak in this game until around i6 or i7 if memory serves. They were so desperate to get that generic name that was already taken, that after trying,, The Shadow TheShadow xTheShadowx XxThe ShadowxX Xx The Shadow xX T H E S H A D O W ...and any other variation just to find they were all taken because there were several other desperate players who were also not very creative, they decided to start adding numbers in place of letters to get that name they wanted, IE... 7h3 5h@d0w The style of writing was thus born out of desperation.

I have taken issue with this before as well. it's to a point that I don't even use white on my face masks anymore.

No, let's not...it was dumb then and it's dumb now. Some things you just don't bring back, L33T 5P33K should remain buried just like pants from the 70's and 80's. I rank this in there with Bell Bottoms and Parachute Pants. Once you get rid of cock roaches, you don't purposely bring them back, you don't bring back a used port-o-potty and you don't bring back the turd you flushed an hour ago, therefore you don't bring back l33t 5p33k.

Only the Devs have control over fading sounds. What I can do is either turn the volume down on those sounds, or change them to something less intrusive. I'll look in to the Portal one and see if I have something or can whip up something that is a lot easier on the ears and get back with you. I think I have the sound just for it, I'll have to see if it fits before I make it a mod though. So check back within the next day or two.

I figure the glowing effect would be perfect for this particular one, especially since it already exists with Energy Aura. Something like this...

I can see the option working fine for large bodies, or maybe a monstrous character, but for a character that look heroic, it's a bit much I think. it needs a glowing affect option, much like what you can get with Energy Shields.

Sorry to Necro this, but I don't like making multiple threads of the same topic. I had to google this to find it, but rather than make my own thread, I would like to give support to this one. It's a great set, but those effects can be very overbearing on some character concepts. It's perfect for some, but for others it;s just too much. A minimal Effect option would be nice indeed. Something that allows you to actually see your costume. Maybe an aura rather than a surrounding effect like it is now. Like a glowing aura?

The way the powers work wouldn't mesh well. That would almost need to be an entirely new powerset with its own sound effects...that I would be happy to supply for the Dev team if they don't already have somebody for that.

I have a thread on it in my sig. There have been others since then, but the particular one in the sig should cover the gist of it. The Elec Toggle AoE on Blasters is just the most recent.

Agreed, the only thing I have seen HC do that I am not a fan of, like at all, is their nerfs to sound effects. But that is not enough on its own to get me to go to another server. They still have that level of responsibility that overcomes their nerfs to sounds, so I am still here. I take breaks sometimes when a sound nerf pisses me off, but like a good spouse, I always seem to keep coming back when I get over it, lol.

Exactly. To add to this, people don't want these things as badly as they want population and some remnants of balance. For an example, the amount of people who just want to be level 50 without having to work for it all, could easily have that on We Have Cake server. They can have instant level 50's, fully incarnate, fully IOed build AND farms that have no aggro limit., along with a few power sets that we don't have on Homecoming. Yet, they are still here, sitting in AE missions filling local chats with their pleas for power levels. Yet instead of going to We Have Cake server, they chose to stay on Homecoming. There is a reason for this. Homecoming has the atmosphere and just enough progression/balance to keep people here. People who complain that HC doesn't have this or that, still chose to remain here and that speaks volumes in itself.

If you guys like it as is, fine. Doesn't bother me a single bit if it never changes. I tried it out again and didn't like it. It's survival is just poop. But I have not played the set until last week in over 14 years, I can go another 14 years if need be. Maybe by then people will finally be sick of it enough that they stop defending it like it's just so wonderful. 😄 Tongue in cheek comment there, had to, lol. I would like to be fair and logical for a moment and add, that we are not supposed to be balancing power sets around IO's. Every time somebody has a gripe about a power set though, it would seem most players want to talk about their ubber IO builds to defend the set. That's not how we are supposed to be balancing the game last I checked. Take IO's out of the equation and Regen is the squishiest set in game. There is a reason I have literally never seen anybody play the secondary. People avoid power sets for a reason...and for people to avoid a power set that is as iconic as Regen, that should tells us all something that should be loud and clear. The deafening silence of the lack of Regen players in this game should drown out any and all touts of how awesome the set is. The deafening silence speaks for itself.

It was so damn scary, people would literally use Hover to get across the entire map to get to their mission location than run the distance, it was a nightmare! I', sure you remember! 😄
