Here is the problem with that. You have a lot of players who actually love that effect and find it to be an iconic part of the game. Take that away and you take away part of what makes this game so unique. We have already lost so many sounds that were once iconic to this game, you can find a list of those sounds in my sig. There are certain power sets that I will not even play anymore just because those sounds were removed. However, there is good news. There is no reason why players who feel as you do can have what you want, without taking away from players such as myself. It just so happens (as @Six-Six has mentioned) that I create sound mods for this game and a good part of the reason why, is so that the Developers can stop deleting sounds for this game, or stop fading them out, or stop removing stacking effects. Every time they do this, it steals a large part of the enjoyment of the game from players like myself, so luckily there is a compromise here. Just post the specific sounds you take issue with on the Mods thread listed in my sig and I'll see what I can whip up for you.

Especially not in Discord. I have checked out the Discord channel before and it looked to me like a large entourage of people crowding the Devs, constantly jibber jabbering, perhaps in an attempt to gain their favor and be noticed, one can only assume. At least from my perspective that was what it looked like. So trying to get a word in edgewise and hoping it sticks long enough for the Devs to see it on Discord would be more futile than trying to make a public announcement on LFG chat, heh. I figure if a Dev were to be interested in reading what we're thinking about a subject, the forums would be the bet place to have an organized discussion where a Dev wouldn't have to sift through tons of irrelevant crap to read our thoughts.

Energy Melee was a dead horse too, but people kept talking about it. Had nobody ever talked about it for fear of beating a dead horse, the Devs may have never came up with a solution. I don't see the logic in keeping silent about the subject. If somebody owes me money, they won't be very motivated to pay me back if I never ask them about the money they owe me. Same with topics such as these, if something needs looked at, it won't get looked at if the players don't bring the subject up from time to time. Posting memes of beating a dead horse only undermines and makes a mockery out of the subject. That is why I gave it a thumbs down. Nothing personal, I just didn't want to show support to the gesture by laughing at it.

This mod may affect other aspects of the game, so far I have discovered none, but that doesn't mean that you won't find at least something, somewhere. However, here is a video of the mod and you can find it on the CoH Modder Tool.

That is wild indeed, considering I have yet to witness anyone with Regen as their secondary. Kind of blows my mind really. However, I will say this, is it feasible that people are power-leveling to 50, finding out how horrible it is and not playing them? So now they are just level 50 Regen Scrappers being shelved? I wish we had a time played chart rather than a chart that shows how many exist.

It existed in the 80's among the hacking community. I'm just saying I don't recall seeing it in game (outside the Freakshow) until the game was well within it's second year. But, my memory of the events is old as dirt, so take it with a grain of salt, lol.

Yes, but I don't recall seeing players using leet speek until after the generic names started drying up. Like I said, I am not 100% on any of this, but this is how I remember it.

Not 100% on this, but I am fairly certain the only reason leet speak existed in this game was of because players not being very creative with names. We didn't see leet speak in this game until around i6 or i7 if memory serves. They were so desperate to get that generic name that was already taken, that after trying,, The Shadow TheShadow xTheShadowx XxThe ShadowxX Xx The Shadow xX T H E S H A D O W ...and any other variation just to find they were all taken because there were several other desperate players who were also not very creative, they decided to start adding numbers in place of letters to get that name they wanted, IE... 7h3 5h@d0w The style of writing was thus born out of desperation.

I have taken issue with this before as well. it's to a point that I don't even use white on my face masks anymore.

No, let's not...it was dumb then and it's dumb now. Some things you just don't bring back, L33T 5P33K should remain buried just like pants from the 70's and 80's. I rank this in there with Bell Bottoms and Parachute Pants. Once you get rid of cock roaches, you don't purposely bring them back, you don't bring back a used port-o-potty and you don't bring back the turd you flushed an hour ago, therefore you don't bring back l33t 5p33k.

Only the Devs have control over fading sounds. What I can do is either turn the volume down on those sounds, or change them to something less intrusive. I'll look in to the Portal one and see if I have something or can whip up something that is a lot easier on the ears and get back with you. I think I have the sound just for it, I'll have to see if it fits before I make it a mod though. So check back within the next day or two.
