  1. WARNING!!! These SFX Mods are designed for the Game to play back only! City of Heroes plays back the volume at a much different level than the actual file has them set to. In the event that you wish to play them back manually, NEVER play back these sound files in any way without first turning the volume down on your Laptop/PC. The game plays back volumes at a far lower level than your PC/Laptop will, and if you play back the files without first turning down your volume, you can possibly cause damage to your speakers! Reverse the PB Sound Effect that was Recently Removed! (Detailed Explanation) Note: The zip file has been updated as of 3/20/2020 For starters, this is the "Hum" sound effect that was recently removed from the attack powers of the Peace Bringers. I was successful in undoing what was changed for those of you who were not too happy about the Sound Effect change, and created files to help you return the old Peace Bringer Sound Effects and set them up for your personal convenience. All "Hum" sound effects are now back where they were prior to the removal of the PB Sound Effects, with two minor alterations. Now, this mod is not absolutely perfect, but it is very close. The Point Blank AoE's do not activate the Hum upon casting of the AoE powers, but rather require targets to be hit in order to hear the "Hum" sound effect produced by the two PBAoE powers. The reason behind this is because I only had the "Hit" files for those two powers, and not the "Attack" files. I am sure the attack files exist and if I ever find them, I will add those as well, but I could not locate them nor could I locate the sound bite for them; so the "Hum" effect is tied in to the "Hit" file instead. As long as you hit targets with your PBAoE, you will be none the wiser and it will produce the sound effect you have come to know and love. However, when standing alone and using the PBAoEs without hitting any NPC's, it will produce the same Sound Effect you currently experience in game today. All of the other attacks work just as they did prior to the removal of the sound effects and have been successfully returned. You will be the only person who hears this, people around you will not hear the "Hum" sound effect. However, you will hear them not only from yourself, but from other players who are playing Peace Bringers as well; even though the other players will not. Instructions (Destructions?) CoH Remake Theme! (Detailed Explanation) As some of you may remember, a while back I introduced to you my cover version of the City of Heroes Theme. I basically updated the theme to fit today's times. I got a lot of positive feedback on the rewritten song and I recall at least one player asking if it could be implemented into the character select and creation screen. I never expected that to happen due to the fact that I am sure not everyone would want to use any other song other than what is already there. However, after my recent times creating mods for the community, I decided to turn this into a usable mod for the community if any of you so chose to add it in. Here is the video below for the very song in the mod so that you may take it for a spin before committing to adding it as a mod. If you have enjoyed what you heard and would like to add it to your City of Heroes experience upon character creation, then instructions for the file is below. The mod is in the attached file at the bottom of this post. The last file name is different from the file name in my Powers Mods, so be sure to check out the new path in the instructions below. And as always...Enjoy! Instructions (Destructions?) First, unzip the file beneath the instructions and open the folder. Find your City of Heroes folder and open it up. 3. Thanks to @The Philotic Knight we now have an extremely useful and easy way to download all of the below mods and much much more from members all over the community! If you prefer to download manually, that's fine, however, all of the latest mods and latest versions of my Mods will be on that Mod Tool that The Philotic Knight has created and is ready for download! From here on out, all of my Mods will be available on the Mod Tool which acts a lot like Vortex for Nexus Mods...except better, because all the mods are right there for you to choose from! You don't have to manually seek them out since they are built right in to the Mod Tool! You can find his fantastic tool ON THIS PAGE RIGHT HERE! Hope you all enjoy, because that's what it's all about! And last but most certainly not least, PLEASE spread the word! Not everyone visits the forums and I would like everyone to have the opportunity to utilize the mods made by this community...so SPREAD THE WORD! 🙂 The CoH Modder Tool no longer exists. The New Tool Being Used can be Found At The Link Below called City Mod Installer. The Video Tutorial will remain since it uses the same format as City Mod. https://mods.cityofheroes.dev/ Please Note If you are using the Homecoming Launcher then your destination for the Mods should be in the Homecoming folder so that when it creates the Data folder it will look like Homecoming/Data, otherwise the Data Folder will end up in CoH\Data or City of Heroes\Data and will not work. If you are not using the Homecoming Launcher, then the directory will go within the CoH folder as usual, so it would look like CoH/Data or City of Heroes/Data. WARNING!!! 4. Hahahaha! Sorry, my man! I will have another mod for Masterminds Robotics eventually. Those files are scattered around though and it will take me awhile to sift through the Pigg files to locate them. For their SFX, I was thinking maybe the SFX from Optimus Prime's Blaster for your weapon, and maybe Starscream's mounted Wrist Blasters for the Bots and other random SFX from the Transformers iconic laser SFX. That one is going to take awhile, so you have time to enjoy what you have before I make more, lol. 😄
  5. @DuncanMontana @Six Six To touch base on a couple of your questions. If you want to deactivate your SFX mods, you can create a Folder on your Desk Top and name it whatever you like. You can copy all SFX files and drag them to the folder on your Desk Top. Leave all the path folders in your City of Heroes directory and you can just move the folders back and forth from the Powers Folder in the City of Heroes Folder and to the Folder you created on your desk top to turn on and off the SFX. Just remember, anytime you do this it is always a good idea to restart the game. Sadly, there is no way to leave the files in and have them work on specific toons. You will have to manually remove the files. Easiest way to do this would be to create a shortcut to your Powers folder and place it on your Desktop for quick access to the file for easier transfer of SFX files within the Powers Folder. This way you can pick and chose what SFX you want to use at any given time with minimal trouble. Hope this helps!
  6. Please refer to this thread for all future questions and comments. Star Wars Blaster SFX! (Detailed Explanation) Modified: (Corrected issue where Bullet Rain SFX had one extra bullet fire that should not have been there.) 3/25/2020 Okay Star Wars fans, here it is! If you want to hear your pistols sound like Blasters from Star Wars, I finally have it completed. This one was not easy at all, especially since I had to time the blaster rapid fire with three different rapid fire sound effects from Dual Wield, but persistence is something I have always been good at! It is now completed and ready for your enjoyment! Enjoy! Instructions (Destructions?) First, unzip the file beneath the instructions and open the folder. 8. Mr. Philotic Knight, your Bubbler would be welcome on any of my teams anytime...with or without any possible future buffs. 🙂
  9. That's a bit of a harsh opinion there. Telling people that them not liking KB is a crutch is no different than people who hate KB telling others they can't use it. It's simply two different playstyles. Neither playstyle is right over the other, but they do not mix well either. Neither is a "crutch" and neither is a wrong point of view. One style utilizes AoE damage to its fullest potential, the other utilizes crowd control to its fullest potential, it just so happens one hinders the goal of the other. I understand you have the "suck it up" stance on this, but honestly, who has the right to tell the other to "suck it up" here? The KB players, or the KD players? Just something to think about.
  10. Energy/Energy Blasters have been my main since day one of this game. My very first character was an Energy/Energy Blaster, and my first character on Homecoming was the same thing and still today remains my main to this day. Now that my "creds" are out of the way, I'll get to my point, lol. First, Kudos for learning how to use Knock back to the team's advantage. Most players do not from my personal experience and often I have to ask myself, "Is this guy just trolling the team?" So any player who uses Knock Back well, gets no complaints from me. I can tell the difference from a well played knock back player and a player who uses knock back carelessly. So again, Kudos to you. Prior to the KB to KD IO implementation, playing in that way was my ONLY option. I learned very quickly how to play my Energy/EM Blaster well on teams. Back in those days you were kicked from teams for making so much as a single mistake. So I had to be on my A-Game every time I played and had to be careful to not so much as make a single mistake. Once KB to KD IO's came out it relieved that pressure, big time. Because of KB to KD IO I no longer have to take the time to maneuver my Blaster around a mob to line my attacks up against a wall. I no longer had to Hover above a mob (in the event no wall was nearby) and aim straight down so it knocks them down instead of back. I am grateful for KB to KD IO's because with the current speed that players kill mobs these days, I feel maneuvering around these mobs to carefully use an AoE or Cone is time wasted that could be better spent firing off my AoE's and Cones from any advantage point on the map that I just happen to be at. Now I no longer feel like I am wasting time carefully setting up my attacks, and honestly, it feels amazing! So for me personally, I still prefer the KB to KD IO over the time spent maneuvering my Blaster around mobs so that my Knock Back doesn't negatively impact a team. I suspect you may eventually reach the same conclusion I have...and if not, I am still very grateful you are one of those players who know how to use KB. 🙂
  11. Close, the after effects are reversed.
  12. Last update, made all SFX slightly louder as to be heard on teams. Teams were drowning out certain abilities, this has been adjusted so that you can not only hear them solo, but on teams as well. Hopefully this will be enough, as if I make them any louder on the creation side, they will have far too much of a distorted sound to be of any use. This game has a funny sound issue with sound mods, as the game wants to take priority over the volumes of the sounds. So the only way to compensate is to increase the volume of the mods to a point that they can be pushing the threshold of distorting the sounds. Hopefully this is enough, so far my tests have come back positive. If it's not enough, sadly, I won't be able to push the limit any further. This *should* be the last update. Enjoy!
  13. Only issue I have found so far is that on large teams some of the sounds get drowned out...particularly the Aim (Weapon Charged) SFX. I will be seeing what I can do about that this weekend. Really glad you like it!
  14. Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it!
  15. I started using this mod the other day. Huge improvement and much more like a Banshee. Good job, man. Thanks for the mod!
  16. I'm fairly certain you'll enjoy this mod. It makes your weapon sound like it really packs a punch. 🙂
  17. I thought they were on the Guides boards, but I am not finding them. I do know they are somewhere on these forums. I'll have to search later tonight after I get off from work.
  18. There is another Beam Rifle mod out there. I suggest giving it a try as well. It's not my mod, but options are always nice. There is also a mod out there for Sonic (also not mine) attacks, I use that as well. Not sure if any others exist out there other than the two I have and the other two mentioned.
  19. Update: Updated the Build-up and Hit file for the T9.
  20. God no! I don't want to sit on the same character for 100 vet levels just to have that one extra slot. Please no, god please no!
  21. I actually slotted for KB to KD. You leave my damage alone. I already miss out on adding Damage procs in favor of KB to KD IO's, don't counter a "buff" request for a "nerf" request! I'll sick my dog on you for that good sir!
