  1. Mac users: delete the CoH app from Applications by moving it to the Trash and re-run Island Rum. It will say client not found, have it reinstall.
  2. All versions of Beam Rifle's Lancer Shot now has a 100% chance of spreading disintegration. So I used Lancer today and it seems to not only spread Disintegrate, it INITIATES it. In other words, you can use Lancer and never fire the Disintegrate power, and the Disintegrate effect still spreads. This can't be working as intended.

  4. All versions of Beam Rifle's Lancer Shot now has a 100% chance of spreading disintegration. Yeah... it not only spreads it, it INITIATES it! This seems like a bug to me. If this is working as designed, there would be no need to ever fire Disintegrate, so I'm thinking it needs a fix. My 50 Sent can shoot Lancer at a target and the Disintegrate effect starts and spreads without ever firing Disintegrate first.
  5. Beam Rifle/Bio Armor is the best damage combination I have found. Beam Rifle's Disintegrate mechanic adds a large amount of extra damage on top of what you already do. Bio then adds extra 25% to all damage, outside of the ED limit. Add Assault and that's 10% more, so together an extra SO of non-ED limit damage across the board. Self heal, increased Regen/Absorption, etc add to survivability even in Offensive stance. All ranged damage, no need to go into melee range for anything. Incarnate damage increases are icing on the cake. This combo has made it difficult to play anything else in the Sentinel power sets because the damage difference is so noticeable.
  6. I installed the latest Catalina beta last night on my Mac Mini (Late 2012). I just opened the usual Island Rum app and the first thing I saw was a black and white window superimposed with the list of everything in my Applications folder. I clicked the "X" at the bottom and it closed. Then I got a message saying I needed to run "Brew update wine" in Terminal so I did that. I had to give write permission to a folder but the error message told me how to do that and then the brew update ran fine. Then I loaded the 64-bit client (not the beta, the "real" client) and it loaded! I logged in and accessed my characters no problem. I ran /showfps 1 and was getting about 30fps at 1920x1080, which is not bad for this ancient machine with 1.5G video RAM. The fan ran like crazy though, so heat may be an issue in longer sessions. So, in my brief initial test, I'd say 64-bit CoH is good! Well done!
  7. I think it would be useful for one of the Prestige Enhancements available from the P2W vendor to be a Knockback to Knockdown option. This would give players the chance to see if they want to include that option in their character's build as they level up. I don't think it would be gamebreaking or anything like that, just a simple option.
  8. I installed the MacOS 64-bit beta on my MacBook Pro (15 inch, 2018, i7) running Mojave 10.14.6 this morning. I got several error messages during the download with some files listed as not downloading correctly, but the game ran fine. Before logging in I quit Island Rum Beta and restarted it, and the scan did not find any file errors. I did NOT get the warning message that the game "will need to be updated for future MacOS versions", so it looks like Mojave recognized everything as 64-bit. Created a character and ran him around Atlas without any issues. So far so good!
  9. Macs use Island Rum and have to install a 64-bit version of Wine as well. It's not as straightforward, unfortunately.
  10. Is there a step by step list of instructions for installing the 64-bit Mac client? I don't want to guess or start off on the wrong foot. Thanks.
  11. Bio Armor is a great fit with Beam Rifle, in my opinion. The bonus damage from the Disintegrate mechanic added to the Offense stance in Bio Armor, plus Offensive Opportunity, plus Assault are a large bonus to base damage.
  12. BR/Bio is an awesome performer. I wonder if you would consider moving the Superior Sentinel’s Ward set to Disintegrate instead of Overcharge. I tend to fire Disintegrate at, well, everything, and so you might be getting the proc more often than waiting for Overcharge, whether if it’s on cool down or just not appropriate to fire off for a few targets.
  13. I haven’t seen the need for a Sentinel with Bio Armor. He’s only 36 though, maybe my view will change. Only time I thought about it was fighting Red Caps.
  14. Beam Rifle/Bio Armor should sell anyone on a Sentinel. Take the Disintegrate mechanic and add the Offensive stance of Bio and Offensive Opportunity with Assault. Just Bio and Assault alone adds another Damage SO worth of increase across the board. A self-heal, armor, Mez protection, the list goes on. Very powerful combo, that allows you to make mistakes and still survive.
  15. I’m running a DP/Bio at 35 right now. With Bio in Damage stance and Running Assault, you get 38% bonus damage. Offensive Opportunity and red Insps are nice additions. I almost always use Incendiary Ammo. Hail of Bullets is a monster, which will be even better with Musculature Alpha. On teams I just follow the Tank/Brute into each group and unload. If you get into trouble just change stance, pop your heal, and keep shooting. I can guarantee there will come a time when you will prevent a team wipe at some point.
  16. I think I won’t upgrade to MacOS Catalina on the Mac I use for CoH if it means losing my favorite game. I’ve tried Parallels, VMWare Fusion, and Virtual Box and none of them run CoH well or even at all. I know I could boot into Boot Camp, but that means buying a copy of Windows for me and another one for my wife, and she dislikes Boot Camp maybe more than I do. Is anyone else thinking along these lines?
  17. BR/Time is my first 50 and my first Incarnate this time around. The Disintegrate mechanic is great and allows you to do massive damage. As mentioned above, Time has Stun abilities and so does BR. I’m currently working on getting him to the Defense cap with Hover, Weave, Maneuvers, Def IOs in Tough, and the Nerve Alpha slot. I picked up LRM and of course Judgement so he’s now never missing a big AoE. In the ITF, more than once he’s been the only one to survive and finish off the Robot computer in the next to last mission.
  18. Hey BD! I built an Ice/Eng blaster based on your guide back in the day and he rocked! Great to see you back!
  19. Clearly you have not read my thread. According to every single player who has posted on it, Dark/Dark Blasters are simply not played correctly, and aside from a couple of minor changes that I feel are needed, I agree with them. I think Dark/Dark Blasters have some similarities to Warshade. People who like WS play will likely enjoy D/D Blasters as well.
  20. I think it would help immensely if one of the free IOS you get at the P2W vendor was a “Knockback to knockdown” choice. This would help several ATs as they start out and might make the Sudden Accel ones get used more often.
  21. I’m running a Fire/Regen Sentinel right now. I used to be a Blaster, but with SOs and Assault running, this guy is a beast. I have been on 8-person teams that have over aggro’d and actually not noticed that the Tank and I were the only ones left standing. Yes I could play the old glass cannon, but not dying or worrying about always dying or getting mezzed is just plain more fun.
