  1. Why would you (or anyone else) be privy to a private C&D letter from an IP holder to a copyright violator (unless you were a member of either party)? CoH is different because Marvel sued NCSoft over this specific issue. Regardless of the details or merits, there's actual history here, so it's not just speculation.
  2. Adding new entrances to Pocket D without removing any existing ones? Excellent choice. Thank you!
  3. Good points, @MTeague. Technically, there's nothing preventing anyone from creating client-side mods for decals right now. They just need knowledge and the right tools (like a PIGG editor). Remember the old "nude model" client-side hack from retail? Someone had hacked up the "Eden" costume pieces on the client-side to show naughty bits instead of the minimal decals. If you had the same hack on your client, every character that used the "Eden" costume parts ended up looking naked (if you squinted your eyes and had a vivid imagination -- the resolution was terrible).
  4. Honestly, I like the idea of moving the low-level entrance to Pocket D from King's Row to Atlas Park (and Port Oakes to Mercy Island). Pocket D is usually my first destination after creating/playing a character in AP/MI anyway. I do not like the idea of removing the FF/SM entrances, because I usually use Pocket D to get to those zones in the first place. So put me squarely in the camp of "replace KR/PO with AP/MI". The LGTF task force level req change is cool with me, because it's a bug that should be fixed (it's not working as intended/documented). If they want to change the way it works, and update the documentation accordingly, I'm cool with that, too. (edit:) Not that my opinion matters all that much -- just thought I'd pile on the feedback.
  5. Cool idea, but difficult to implement without dedicated resources to moderate properly. And even then, someone will also have to arbitrate an appeals process, and people will still get upset when they're told "No", no matter how gracious or subjectively benign. It's going to end up a no-win situation for the HC team, so better to avoid it entirely. Another option might be to create your own client-side decals, and distribute them to those who might want them, kind of like the other mods that exist for the game. I don't exactly know how that would work, but I'm sure that someone in the mod community can figure it out. (edit:) Of course, if you did come up with an objectionable/offensive client-side mod decal, and then publicly posted screenshots or video, you could open a world of woe against HC, just through guilt by association. Here's an egregious hypothetical: you create a swastika chest detail decal for your character, and then Twitch stream playing that character. Who do you think is gonna get slammed for that: just you, or you and Homecoming? My bet is that Homecoming would get as much (if not more) crap for allowing that, even if it's not server side. And it would only take one (1) such bad apple to spoil it for the whole bunch. Yeah, now that I think it through: NO, HARD PASS, THANKS.
  6. Basically, it's +1 in any of the "legacy" or "classic" zones in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, while it's >+1 in any of the newer zones configured without the level shift limiter (Pocket D, Ouroboros, the new Dark Astoria, Echo Plaza, iTrials, RWZ [I think], etc.).
  7. I meant that Sentinels already step on Blasters' toes, by sharing their Blast primary power sets. Swapping out a few of those primary powers to make them Assault powers also steps on Blaster toes, albeit in a slightly different way. Tomato tomahto.
  8. I usually frame this as: "you can make a more tanky Blaster, but you can't make a more blasty Sentinel". There simply aren't as many IO sets for Sentinels that add more damage, even though there are plenty of IO sets for Blasters that add more defense/resistance.
  9. Did you post your build somewhere? I'd like to review that. Thanks!
  10. Sentinels already do this now, so I don't think it really matters. As some already argue: "why do we even want/need Sentinels when Blasters can do the same thing, but better?" Once you build out a Blaster with complete IO sets to buff their defenses, Sentinels become pointless. And remember: this is coming from someone (me) who actually likes Sentinels. They're my second favorite AT, precisely because they're so similar to my first favorite AT, Blasters (see sig below).
  11. Fair point. There are plenty of other ATs and power sets that need attention before Blasters, IMO. I was merely offering a tepid +1 to the OP, indicating that I wouldn't mind if Blaster attacks were more normalized. That said, I also think there are higher priorities than that.
  12. I support the spirit of this suggestion, if not all of the specific details. This is a back-handed "nerf Fire" post, by suggesting we buff everything else, which is a good approach. However, it misses an important subtlety that explains why the other blaster attacks outside of Fire do less damage: secondary effects (knockback, slow, stun, hold, etc.). Fire doesn't have any, while the attacks in the other powersets do. They are there to add dimensions besides "MOAR DAMNAGE!" That's not to say that secondary effects are sufficient to make up the difference in damage over Fire: I think that's a matter of personal preference. So I'd like to see some of the points made by the OP get addressed, and if that results in higher DPA numbers, great! So I guess count this as a conditional +1 from me (for whatever that's worth, if anything at all). (edit) Personally, I don't play Fire Blasters all that often, because I find them boring. I guess I got burnt out on playing fire-based casters in other RPGs*. One of the reasons I love CoH is that gave me the ability to play other kinds of casters that don't suck. In most other RPGs, fire casters are usually OP and/or dull, while those that aren't fire usually feel anemic. But that's not completely the case in CoH: yes, Fire is OP in CoH (just like elsewhere), but the alternatives are also more viable in CoH than elsewhere. Yes, they do less pure damage, but they're also interesting and effective enough in other ways to make up for that. (*: Insert "I cast Fireball" meme here.)
  13. Same: I'm not a fan of "assault"/blapping. I prefer completely ranged, which is why I like Sentinels and skip all of the melee powers in the secondaries when I play a Blaster.
  14. I see. Then perhaps Homecoming isn't the right CoH host for you. Do any of the other hosts (Rebirth, ThunderSpy, Cake, etc.) have what you're looking for, instead? That's the beautiful thing about CoH now: there are lots of different "flavors" out there from which you can choose. Perhaps one of them can scratch that itch for you.
  15. Tankers just got a bunch of love in the recent past, just a few patches ago -- including a buff to their AoEs. You might want to check the patch notes section of the forums for more info.
  16. Where's your pocket blaster? Can't properly dumpster dive without your Nova buddy. 😉

    Oh Shoot

Sounds like AR/Devices, to me. Targeting Drone = permanent ToHit well over +97% for moar snipe damage. Field Operative = stealth + never-ending blue bar.
  18. Any "defeat all" missions inserted as filler into a story arc. The most frequent example I routinely autocomplete is the defeat all Crey in the Patron Power Pool arc for Black Scorpion. There's also one in the first Wincott arc to defeat all Outcasts in a base which is exactly as boring as it sounds. A lot of the older blue side story arcs have these kinds of missions as filler, without any meaningful story info, clues, or souvenirs.
  19. I see that now, on closer inspection. My apologies.
  20. My hovering melee characters feel this pain. If I target a mob and then follow him while running, I always get into melee range to hit the target. But if I target a mob and then follow him while hovering, I'm always just a foot short of melee range to hit the target. I have to "skooch" the last foot with the forward key to trigger my melee attack. This drives me nuts.

  22. I use powexec_auto mostly to trigger support powers with long recharges, such as Hasten, Energize, Domination, Master/Practiced Brawler, Instant Healing and other click-heals, etc. I very rarely ever do it with attack powers, unless I'm working on a specific AV/GM, because attack powers usually recharge pretty quickly or mobs die too quickly or I don't want to automatically fire while I'm cycling thru potential targets with the tab key. I do agree that changing the ring color would be nice, especially now that so many other powers/combos have rings. Setting the ring color for powexec_auto to cyan would be a nice touch to distinguish it from other powers with rings (such as the snipes and combos).
