  1. Not everyone's nostrils are the same size.
  2. Thanks for offering, YK: it was truly fun just to be considered, and I do appreciate your generosity. However, I don't really need 500M Inf, so feel free to give it to someone else who does. 😊
  3. I'm sure you'll revisit all of them in one form or another; I sure did. I spent several weeks experimenting with Sentinels as alternative forms of my OG Energy/Energy Blaster (see Sig below). My OG Trick Arrow Corruptor has been reimagined as a Tactical Arrow Blaster. My pre-ED Invuln/Energy Tanker became an Energy/Invuln Brute. I could keep listing my chars, but I won't bore everyone. That's the great thing about so many slots, free renames, and quick progression: it offers a lot of freedom to try different ATs and builds as easily as one does with variations of costumes.
  4. D'oh! I completely forgot that you can simply unslot them. In fact, that was one of the main selling points of Incarnate powers: you can completely change them to do different things by swapping out slots. Thanks for the reminder, @Brandx. (edit) I just tested swapping builds to see what happens to Incarnates. The Incarnates stay slotted (or unslotted) when you switch builds. In fact, if you switch builds, you reset their cooldown timers so you have to wait to un-/re-slot them after the switch, which is a bit irritating, as some of them have long cooldowns. So having an option to switch builds without Incarnates or a power to turn off Incarnates isn't a bad idea, depending on how it's implemented. Manual un-slotting is just as effective, if a bit cumbersome.
  5. I'll watch/listen to anything with J.K. Simmons. He's a great actor with an awesome voice.
  6. Allow me to introduce BLASTERMAN™! He comes with his own theme song: Blasterman! (ah-AH-ah!) Fighter of the Bruteman! (ah-AH-ah!) Champion of Paragon! (ah-AH-ah!) You're master of the Nova, and friendship, for everyone. An Energy/Devices Blaster who is primarily a stealth sniper, he prefers to take down his targets unseen, from a distance. I will allow you to model your own Blaster after his unique skill set, out of the goodness of my heart. (Note: Afterburner was replaced with Evasive Manuevers in the last big patch, but Mid's doesn't seem to have that yet.) Level 50: Ion Core Final Judgement Level 50: Assault Core Embodiment Level 50: Clarion Core Epiphany Level 50: Agility Radial Paragon Level 50: Diamagnetic Radial Flawless Interface Level 50: Carnival Radial Superior Ally ------------

  8. I'm liking it, even though it seems a bit too derivative of The Boys. It also throws in a bit of the later seasons of Venture Brothers, but without the comedy. There's also a bit of Spider-Man in there, with the teen protagonist coming to grips with being a super-hero. I won't go much further than that. As an animated series that's a bit more mature than the usual super-hero animated series, it's pretty good.
  9. Dude, the game is back and you have 1,000 character slots per shard. Renames are free and unlimited. Transfers are a generous 5 per week. Double XP is free and unlimited, the market is seeded so IOs are cheap and plentiful. I also recreated most of my original characters from live/retail. The build for my first Energy/Energy Blaster took me years and billions of Inf to finish on live/retail. The same build on HC took me a few weeks and less than 500M Inf. In 2 years of playing on HC, I've deleted more characters than I maintained on live/retail in 8 years. I have to force myself to keeping just 10 per shard (50 -- and I still go over from time to time). Relax. Take your time. Enjoy the ride, don't rush to the destination. There is no destination but fun! Welcome home.
  10. Why not just choose to build alts without Incarnate powers, or simply disable XP at level 49 (or at exactly 50, which might stop progression into Incarnate Alpha, maybe -- I don't know if that works, having never tried it)?
  11. This is spot on. Believe it or not, we do occasionally get completely new players from time to time, and I usually recommend a Sentinel for newbies who want to play ranged chars. It's a shallow learning curve that gets folks into the game and into CoH's mechanics quickly and easily, without penalizing them early with debuffs and mezzes. Once they get used to how the game plays with "training wheels", they're usually better prepared to take those off later with their subsequent alts. And ultimately, that's what CoH is really about: the alts.
  12. If we want to drift further afield from actual law enforcement, and go with some variant of Travis McGee, a "Salvage Consultant" who lived on a house boat parked in a marina. Technically neither cop or private eye, he filled that role as the protagonist in his successful book series.
  13. You might want to see if there's a build in this topic. @JJDrakken is good at builds.
  14. It's been my experience that the man in the suit is usually the baddest villain.
  15. I learned a lot about the Hollows (helluva lot of badges there) and Boomtown was quite challenging (tunnels and fallen skyscrapers). It was fun, and now I have zone completion badges I never came even close to getting before.
  16. I'm having hella fun just straight up murdering arresting thugs in lowbie zones for the exploration badges. Thanks for the "tip", @cranebump! 😁
  17. Same here: it's usually cheaper than Celerity +Stealth, but does exactly the same thing. The proc doesn't actually affect either run speed nor jump height, so they're interchangeable.
  18. Must... resist.. pointing out... the irony of... "sniping" about snipes...
  19. I don't understand why we needed "Infiltration" instead of "Invisibility": I think that's really the nut of the problem. We could've just said, "Hey, we buffed Invisibility so that it's also a travel power now!" That probably would've been sufficient, and avoided all the confusion.
  20. Concealment is the name of the pool itself, so we probably shouldn't name the power that, also.
  21. I'm a functional minimalist, and all of my bases usually have teleporters and trainers in the entry portal room (or within a few steps of the entry portal), so I can pop in and out quickly. I then make storage and workstations the next most convenient items (a few more steps away from the entry portal), and then any aesthetics comprise the rest of the base plot. [My best example is ROCKET-10094 on Everlasting.] That said, I do find The .38 Specials' base a bit daunting: navigating to the teleporters is an adventure in and of itself. And I still haven't found any crafting workstations or storage bins (admittedly, I haven't looked all that hard). It's an impressive base: something one would definitely find in comic books or other media. It's quite well done.
