All I'd need is the one SSA. Finding them isn't hard. it's that it's the very definition of gratuitous. The sappers is MUCH worse, but 1,000 of anything is a pretty tall order. it's not interesting gameplay to punk a bunch of minions. yes, you can get it naturally, but look to the newer badges, IE the ones for Nightward. Did you need to kill 1,000 of any of the new enemy groups? No. Doing this feels like "going back to basics" in the worst way possible, to me anyway. That isn't to say it's the worst thing that could be done in the game, but it's a design philosophy that the game had clearly moved beyond.

If people want a grind they can always chase veteran levels. There are fun grinds, and there are boring grinds. Kill 1000 jaegers is the very definition of wasting time to make one number go a little higher. I'll do it if I have to, but there are a lot of better ways someone could make a "do x things" badge than these, and I'll stand by that. Edited for typos

On the one hand: new badges? Cool. On the other: defeat badges with such high numbers isn't fun. I know most people are assumed to get them by doing a bunch of content and getting it eventually, but even then, 250 sappers? 1,000 Jaegers? Let's say theoretically you wanted to purposefully get those badges. The time investment is just not fun, and the existing badges aren't all that punishing. Weatherman badge is just 100 outcast bosses, for instance. Why make SO many sappers, so many natterlings, etc etc etc? Please consider that this won't enhance anyone's fun, and will instead just add time to people who hunt them down when you don't even have the usual MMO reason of wanting to elongate sub time! 🙂

Request: Give PCs as many of the NPC emotes as possible

Not true. You can make NPCs in your base do it and they all look just fine. Source: several SG bases. -
Request: Give PCs as many of the NPC emotes as possible

Liedown And even with that, a lot of people really enjoy that emote 🙂 At least let me lounge like Bobcat! She taunts me! -
My suggestion: use /ah while in kallisti wharf, a very underutilized campus 🙂

How about incarnate salvages account trade able?
Kistulot replied to Bukatti's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm on board with this. It would make empowering alts that much easier 🙂 -
Out of curiosity, does incarnate XP still grow even when XP is turned off? I never tried that, as I've always been in a rush to get my hybrid unlocked 🙂

Power Suppression in Icon and Facemaker
Kistulot replied to Obsidius's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Alternative suggestion: Have you considered adjusting your volume? This game has some VERY annoying sfx, but if you're not needing to hear them, sometimes it can be worth flicking off. -
Personally, I still don't really understand sentinel. It brings damage, and survives, but if one needed that secondary set to survive blasting, blasters, corruptors, and defenders would all be dead. Assault+Support makes a good amount of sense to me, personally. Summoning+Control also seems like it could potentially be very interesting. I could also see a more literal tankermind, combining summoning with defensive sets, including a taunt aura. It might devalue the presence pool, but I think it does a good job devaluing itself.

I just felt the need to weigh in on this detail specifically. If any zone changes dramatically, we should try to save the old version if/when possible. No reason to lose out on old content, even if it doesn't seem valid. I like the idea of putting new content into these zones, but I don't think Dailies is the answer. Zone events, similar to Bricks new breakout event? That could be fun! it's timed to start very often, has 3 temp powers to get, and these powers aren't overpowered but they're probably nice to have for somebody! Plus, it'd be a good way to get certain badges going, like making the Kraken part of Perez, Jurassic in Crey's Folly, so on.

Warframe Survival missions forced the players to hunt and kill mobs. The mobs didn't find players. What about just making the map spawn new mobs at random, with no pathfinding AI beyond what any mob has? Make the impetus on the players to find the mobs. Solves the problem, adds more gameplay. if you want to make it simpler, you could even use a small map, like the final fight in MoM, and make it so the mobs are always visible and in close quarters 🙂

Honestly, it's bad enough either you have to waste time grinding for your alpha slot to unlock instead of spending Astrals like you used to be able to on live instead of endlessly doing the Ramiel arc... Factor in that you always need to get the 4 accolades if you want a character to be the best it can be, and it's a lot of time that you NEED to spend on every character doing one of two things, for the hero or villain accolade. If it's "it'll make people do more content!" as an excuse, IE TFs for Task Force Commander... if the TFs aren't fun enough to run for merits/xp/etc, why should we run them for a buff? If it's "this is how it was!" then I hate to break it to you, this game changed a LOT from issue 0. If it's "I had to do it" then, again, refer to how much the game has changed. HC did a lot to make the game more player friendly. It's not a big show of pride to have the 4 Endurance/HP accolades. It just shows you sunk the time, and after the tenth time, is there really anything fun about that? For some people, yes, but for others, no, and this is a game about alts... so respecting that, to me, feels key.

If you go to ouroboros you can buy super inspirations, which are a lot more useful than they may sound... at least the Ultimate inspiration, which gives you a whole bonus level ontop of any incarnate levels you've got. Keeping a stash of those is fun times.

Hello! As I'm sure you're all aware, the past 14 years worth of anniversary badges were available for a short time in May. Many players were actually new to CoH, too busy to gather the merits, or did not realize these badges were of limited availability. Due to the fact that this is the first winter holiday season with CoH back up and running, I feel it would be a nice little gift to the community if these badges were available for the month of December. Maybe not as an every year thing, but I feel that giving a second chance before May to nab these badges, now that people have established characters and built up merits/knowledge of the game/etc would be a nice gift with very minimal effort on the part of the devs. I honestly don't see why they aren't available year round--but I can respect the rationale enough. With that in mind, I know this woul dmake a lot of people happy, would not require new content, and would be more useful now than it was in May. Thank you for the consideration! 🙂

Wanted to add something I find valuable: envenomed daggers. Fighting an EB/AV and your damage just isnt beating out their regeneration? Envenomed daggers are what you WANT. They're not too pricey, either. Never leave home without them!

I mean, the best part is anyone can use whatever pool they want, but if you're gonna tell me natural heroes cant push themselves super hard utilizing a force-of-will beyond mortal ken, then you ain't thinkin heroes~ 🙂 Respectfully, of course. Like, imagine that said in a really goofy tone.

Utility belt is technology, unless you naturally grew a belt.

So, my main issue... Will the AE be wrecked like it was in live, where we cant even use the word Gambit for fear of Marvel getting pissy at us? I know you really want this server to be above board (that honestly seems a bit misplaced of a priority to me, but that's just me) but I'm really hoping that we can be a bit more sane and logical than it was on live.

I guess my mind more quickly goes to "what I don't want to see" because honestly, the HC shards? Are amazing. I don't want to see a return to loot crates (that's what super packs were, and it was gross to hide costume pieces/ATOs behind it) or to merits being effectively useless. That wasn't something aggregious at the time, but let's face it: it's easier to make a build now, and that doesn't make me want to play LESS. It makes it so an alt isn't as stressful to level because hey, I can get them good enhancements without needing to spend years grinding. I don't really see a point in bringing out the batallion. Yeah, I know, it'll mean a bunch of things in game reference an event that never comes... but either A) They stick to the AMA lore, or B) they make new stuff and everyone endlessly whinges over it. Read the AMAs if you want to see more of that. I would love more AE options. Give me each enemy group scaling 1-50, every map, more placable items, etc etc etc. More costume pieces. Customize AE powers! More base items! Don't make player contributions canon. Let us make our own RP canons as we choose to. They were going to sell being a member of the nuclear 90 at one point, and this would have been the *worst*. I don't want anyone's RP lore to superceed anyone else's. Let us just have fun and make our own path. We already have the paid features, prestige powers, vet badges, etc, all available in game. Don't take anything away behind a paywall when so many are willing to support the game, and more will even without more functionality. Allow those with more flexible funds to support everyone else having the most fun we can. Basically, I think the game is in a great place. Fixing weak powersets *cough*energymelee*cough* would be cool, new powersets is nice, new ATs is even nice (even if Guardian seems... poorly thought out to me personally), and even new stories seems fun... but I feel like leaning too much into trying to make it like the game never ended is iffy. If we get more incarnate powers, AE stories become even harder to do a lot with because of more of a power hike. Incarnate leveled AE would be neat! I guess I just care a lot more about the RP scene, and don't want people endlessly obsessed with if HC got the batallion right or wrong. I also think CoX should be a game for its community, as the dedicated community is what always kept it going. It wasn't the most subbed game, but it was adored, and savored. I'm kindof not super pro doing anything cuddling up to the WONDERFUL PEOPLE at NC who shut us down, but if we gotta, I feel like doing as much as possible to keep things as open and welcoming as they are should be key, or why even bother?
-
Got one in! 🙂 It wasn't much given the cost, but to support this brilliant community-funded gaming endeavor, I had to chip in a month's sub. Now I can joke "you didn't pay my donation" to people. ...I promise, I won't do that to people who aren't my friends. Probably.

That's not how threads work. if someone disagrees they can continue to assert why. If you've made your point and dislike being disagreed with, you may, however, leave the thread.
