  1. Yeah, that particular MoDD was a crapfest, @Snarky. I ran another later that evening with zero issues. It's always a dice roll with what I do. As they say, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. People choose to read and follow chat, or they don't. Normally, I wouldn't have tried it a second time with that same group unless I had messed up by not getting instructions out in time, or something like that. When the group chooses not to follow directions, I normally won't rerun it. I went against my routine and got the consequences. Also had a failed Strong and Pretty run late last night because people weren't reading and following chat. I did NOT rerun that one, and ran an MSR instead. I've kind of had to come to terms with the fact that people choosing not to read or follow chat is a hardwired feature of PUGs. I just hope we have some fun along the way, and bonus points if we're successful.
  2. Lots of folks bashing in this thread, but this part ain't wrong. There are a lot of things about this game that you have to go outside the game to learn about.
  3. I've had cell shading on for a long time and edited my bases several times with no issues. Maybe it finally caught up with me. I can try disabling that.
  4. After the latest update, I went to edit my base and clicked Pick Theme, then High Ceiling and the game froze. My base is set to Open Sky right now, and I was hoping to try the new Open Sky (Passthrough). I'll try on another couple of bases tonight if I get a chance.
  5. SLPT: Remember to always use CTRL+click on Incan so it autofires as you are playing.
  6. Releasing Oklahoman
  7. Unless the devs nerf vet XP, I stand by my statement. Not betting against Veracor on this, and I bet he does it in under 190 years. Mark my words.
  8. Completely disagree. General is for conversations. Help can be for conversations. Team, League, local, broadcast... all can be for conversations. There is plenty of space for conversations within this game, and I encourage that. If you join in one of my MSRs we are slinging Dad Jokes left and right the whole time - not in LFG, but in league, local, and broadcast. LFG is for people trying to form teams and groups. It's a shared billboard for us to advertise. Sure, stray comments are going to make their way on to LFG. Accidentally sending to the wrong channel, a witty (?) response to a typo, asking for clarification, etc. No big deal. But when others join in and start responding to the responses, it can quickly become a conversation, and it can then inhibit people LOOKING FOR GROUP. I would argue that the LFG channel may be the most important channel in the game. Some people love to solo, and more power to them, but I think most people play MMOs to join in adventures with others. Anything we do to make that more difficult is a detriment to the game and the community.
  9. Just to add here, because I get this a lot, VET LEVEL and LEVEL SHIFT are 2 different things. You may see someone advertise, for instance, that you must be "50+3" to join, and that has nothing to do with vet levels. It is very possible to be vet level 1 million and have 0 level shifts.
  10. ^^Great resource FYI - an MSR should easily unlock Alpha for you. Also, check out my guide in my signature on how to get an incarnate component every 15 minutes.
  11. Wait, didn't I have you on Team 1 last time? 🙂 The folks that run the Abyss Hami are saying the servers are in dire need of a reboot for much the same reason. There was some chatter about it in Discord, as well. MSRs and Hamis are, in general, a bit like a powerpoint, but more so lately, I think. No doubt that some graphics changes on your end will help.
  12. Just looking over this forum, I see this one several posts down: While you are playing, if a player stands out to you for whatever reason, you can click on them and see in the target window what supergroup, if any, they are attached to. You can then ask about that supergroup and see if it sounds like one you would like. I also see relatively frequent ads in LFG or Broadcast (especially in Atlas). Lastly, that "community" feeling you are looking for may be achievable without being in a SG at all, or even just creating your own 1-person SG. Joining large group activities like MSRs and Hamis (and iTrials when you get to that point) are a great way to connect with other players. Anyway, welcome back, good to have you here, and make the place better.
  13. I know, at this point I bet you have to settle for "Xx Blaze? xX"
  14. Prompt: write a character description for a superhero cowboy named "The Oklahoman" Result: via OpenAI (which, btw, got the hat wrong - good guys where white hats, and mine is gray)
  15. Normally when I see a message repeated like that over and over again, it's someone forming a DFB. So, I consider it a refreshing change.
  16. I became aware yesterday that this badge is sometimes not being awarded, even though the conditions for the badge are being met. I noticed that a timer was missing sometime after the first spine falls, though I'm not exactly sure when, and sure enough no one in the league got the badge. I think at one point all of the spines had to go down together for the badge, so it's almost like it's reverting to its original code. I'm not sure what's most helpful to isolate this bug, other than a demorecord. Any suggestions?
  17. Whoa, hold on there pardner. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, calls me "acceptable."
  18. Right now, we have no tools to see what else is running already. I've put ideas into the suggestions forum, but I'm not sure much ever gets pulled from there for actual development. There is a player led event calendar under this forum, and it is probably a good idea to check it and just be familiar with large, scheduled events. I agree with @Zect that you should be able to run whatever you want, whenever you want - and I would even go further to say that what *IS* running trumps what *IS PLANNED* to run. Having said that, I find it's better for my blood pressure just to give everyone a wide berth. I once tried to run a Hami an hour before a scheduled one and got burned for that, which is one of the main reasons I just don't run Hami's anymore. I had an MSR finish 6 minutes after the start time of a scheduled MSR and got raked over the coals in game and on Discord. You just have to decide if you want to deal with the heartburn associated with that ideology. As for iTrials, when I log on I usually try to wait 15 minutes before I start recruiting for anything. If a BAF is out, it will likely be back for a refill in that time and I can plan accordingly. If I don't want to wait 15 minutes, I will wait at least 2 minutes to see if anything is actively recruiting - at which time it is usually safe for me to run an MoDD. That one (tragically, I think) doesn't get run very often, so it's pretty low risk that I would be stepping on anyone else's toes, especially if I've allowed 2 minutes to see if anything is showing up in LFG. There's no problem with running multiple iTrials out of the same zone, except for the bozos who zone in and say "I'll join" or "Invite me". Sometimes the league leaders communicate with each other and see which one wants to send an invite. It's much better if you are not vague and state what iTrial you want to join. Sometimes, I have a BAF badge run going while someone else is forming a normal BAF, and it helps to be ultra specific there. When other league leaders are recruiting or refilling, I usually ask via tell how many more they need and decide when to advertise based on that. I don't mind holding up for a few minutes so someone else can get their league filled, avoiding some confusion for us all. If it starts taking too long, though, I figure there must be some reason their BAF isn't filling and I go ahead and advertise, especially if I am running something other than a BAF. There have been many times I've filled a Magisterium after a BAF has been advertising for a while and just not filling, just because sometimes people want to do something different. The only other etiquette I would propose, and I know many will disagree with, is not to hog LFG by posting there too often. I always allow at least 1 and usually 2 minutes between my LFG posts, and I almost always fill. There's a thought that you have to advertise again as soon as your previous add scrolls off, or that you need to let everyone know each time you add someone so they can see it is filling fast. It may take a few minutes longer to fill, but in the grand scheme of things - so what? There's a Task Force Junkies Channel you can join and advertise on, too, so sometimes I alternate between LFG and TFJ to fill up a little more quickly without having to spam either channel. Lastly, THANK YOU for running stuff! We need all the people we can to lead things so the community remains engaged with stuff to do.
  19. General Chat has its own channel, and if it needs to be cleaned up before someone is willing to wade into it, someone else needs to do that. Not my circus, not my monkeys. Looking for Group is not for General Chat. Nor is it for Help. We can tolerate the occasional misstep here and there, but we all benefit when people use the correct channels, and use the channels correctly.
  20. What?!?! Someone fell into my trap and I missed it? Anyone got a screenshot? Curse you @Rudra for spoiling my fun!
