A while back, someone suggested an idea for enhancement sets that give you a bigger boost in one area while nerfing something in another - for instance, greater recharge rate but decreased accuracy. I think something like that could be interesting and could provide some of the flaws you're thinking about. It would also be optional. Of course, with anything like that you have to think about how farmers are going to exploit it, so...

It's hard to imagine it would even be possible to code this, and probably the benefit to the community might not be that great, but I've always thought it would be fun if AE could allow you to create stuff where you could tweak some rules like this in exchange for considerably lower (or possibly no) rewards. So, you wanna know what it's like to herd an entire map? Go run AE #8675309 and let me know how it was.

There's already someone creating a lot of @Confusion in that respect.

Map Server - It's Over. Whatdidchalikebestest?
Oklahoman replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
Socially acceptable power leveling. This and the Halloween event need to be shorter. -
I'd never real thought about this point, but it makes sense. Why, as a league leader, would you ever want any of the other teams in the league to be less than your level? It could impact the mentoring badges, I guess? But if you want those, I guess... I dunno... you could lead stuff on your own. As a league leader, I would LOVE it if I craft team 2 and team 3 just like I want and know those teams won't get swapped when we LFG into something. I would love to be able to designate someone as a team leader without having to reshuffle the teams to accomplish that. It would be so cool to never again have to ask someone to give me back the the league star. I'd be thrilled if I could continue to invite people who are in zone, even though someone on Team 1 happened to leave the zone. Let's get rid of "Lock the event for your group" which seems designed to spaghetify your league, and instead have you immediately go in with less than a full league rather than have to queue for a few minutes. Let's remove the Avg. Wait Time column which has always been meaningless and replace it with how many are in progress you can join right now. Let's have a prompt come up after you mapserve that detects you are still involved in an event and ask if you want to rejoin - rather than you sending a tell to the league leader, getting reinvited, but then find yourself locked out of the event entirely Alas, I bet that is a ton of work, fraught with programming peril, and we're more likely to get an additional currency before any of that ever happens.

Respecs for Incarnate Abilities / Powers
Oklahoman replied to Squid Vicious's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't hate the idea. As a personal example, maybe early in your incarnate career you like the lore pet Polar Lights because it works thematically with your character. But later, you determine that character is basically just going to do Hamis (low XP, high reward) for whatever reason, and the league leaders are telling you that Longbow is best. This would allow you to cash out your Polar Lights and use those resources to rebuild a Longbow pet that better suits your current needs. Right now, you'd probably have to email yourself some Transcendents from another character so you can build the Longbow, while retaining the Polar Lights you never plan to use again. For some of us that's not a big deal, but I realize most people have these "alts" things and may not have a pile of Transcendents laying around. -
Yet another attempt at improving Empathy
Oklahoman replied to Wavicle's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I've lost hope we'll ever do anything with Empathy, but I like the thought. Personally, I'd love to see the RAs combined into a single power and with the open power slot have a Light Servant (basically the opposite of Dark Servant from Dark Miasma). -
League GUI enhancement QoL Invite group into league
Oklahoman replied to DrRocket's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah, I've had mixed results with that. Usually if I am forming something with just 2-3 teams I can invite another team, but if it's a Hami or MSR I have trouble. It may be that if you have 6 teams in your league already - even though 1 or more of them maybe only has 1 member and you're trying to invite a group of 7 or fewer - you can't invite another team. And, if that other group you are trying to invite is formed as a league you're probably hosed, even if you have plenty of room for them. -
Figured you for skim or 2%, honestly.

Here's the thing about scrapperlock (which is real, I get it) but in the context of Triple Threat they are already stopping at 10 and 5 on their AV. But once we get down to 2 I've seen people go stand right next to an AV with a damaging aura on, or summoning uncontrollable pets, or not being aware of their attacks that have DoT. It's almost like they are anticipating the end is near and they are in a state of bloodlust. Brain shuts off. So I'm sending tells, messages to the league, teleporting them away, etc. but I can't be in 3 places at once. It really is like herding cats - more so than with LAM badge runs.

I like this idea, but I'd go a step further - 3.5.

Of the 23 failures, 12 were due to "Itchy Trigger Finger" (someone taking out an AV before the kill order), 7 were due to random stuff (poorly timed kill order, one team suddenly forgetting how to do damage, Walmart delivery banging on my door because they need a signature for the yogurt I ordered, etc.), and only 4 were due to an AV regen after the kill order was given. Honestly, that surprised me - and I firmly believe that in 2024 most failures were due to a regen after the kill order, though I didn't keep track like I am so far this year. I mean, stopping your damage so we take out the AVs at the same time should be a skill set you learned in any of the millions of BAFs run on a weekly basis. I don't get how people with Lore and Destiny unlocked struggle with this. I'd still argue that window needs to be expanded to 10 seconds, though, for Triple Threat.

At raids, I always choose a Hami O, followed by Reward Merits for the remainder of the raids. If you could convert them, maybe the price of Enhancement Converters would go back up, though. 🙂 Personally, I'd rather it stay as it is now.

I can get behind the intent here, but not the whole adding a slot thing. I've said it before, but my hope has always been that Luna would offer special inspirations (probably character bound - can't be sold, traded, emailed, etc.) at certain higher vet levels. Stuff like a PBAoE rez, stronger team buff inspirations, maybe even an expensive PBAoE Ultimate or a Hasten inspiration that works on incarnate powers. Some might unlock at 100, others 300, etc. and they would, of course, cost a lot more threads than what we have now.
-
I've posted this idea before and was told it would lead to a total collapse of the auction house, people fleeing the game in droves, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria...
-
They can, in batches of 10. Shards can't be emailed to other characters to clear out of your inventory, so they just sit there until you can get enough to convert them into a measly amount of threads. That's why I said it would be nice to be able to reject shards at some point after you open Alpha. Likewise, stuff like Vanguard Merits can be converted to Reward Merits (or spent on other things) but you can't send the strays off to another character. I've literally taken characters street sweeping in RWZ to earn a round number of Vanguard Merits just so I could spend them on something and never return there again, just so the vMerits didn't just sit in my storage. Unless we want to make stuff like shards and vMerits mailable to other characters on the same account, I'd really just love to have a shredder someplace to get rid of them.

Can the SG Coalition number be increased?
Oklahoman replied to ShardWarrior's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I haven't seen the code - trying to avoid a SAN check which I'd almost certainly roll a natural 1 on. But I did wonder if part of the limitation here is how many coalition bases can be shown on the popup when you click on a base portal? It's possible increasing the number of coalitions would require a recode of that popup to have a scroll bar and in general work differently. In general, though, I would love to see the number of global friends, coalitions, SG members, and anything else along those lines increased. -
Dude talks in bullet points, but it's the font that bothers you?
-
I made a suggestion one time that after you unlock Alpha, it would be nice if Luna gave you the option to reject shards. I also suggested a "shredder" you can put in a base that you could toss anything into and it would destroy it - after the requisite "Three Body Problem 'you wanna donate your head to science?'" level prompts. I often end up with a character with 13 vMerits on them whom I never plan to take back into Rikti War Zone, and I can't even just send those to another of my characters who might be able to use them. In short, I feel your pain.
-
Maybe, but I get this a lot when I form MSRs in RWZ or Hami raids in The Abyss. In both cases I don't invite from tells - I only invite from broadcast so I can be sure they are in zone. It's possible they zoned in, immediately broadcast for an invite, and I immediately invited - and the overall system hadn't "firmly planted" them in zone yet... I guess? Dunno, that explanation sounds like the time my brother was told by tech support that the reason his wi-fi was acting up was because it was windy outside and blowing the signal around.

When you click on a character name in chat, one of the many options you get is "Invite to Team" and "Invite to League". It seems this essentially runs the command /i CharacterName and /li CharacterName respectively. I even get an error message occasionally saying /i and /li aren't valid commands - probably some weird alignment issue, but inviting again seems to work. There could be some conveniences to us team and league leaders if that were changed to /i @GlobalName and /li @GlobalName. The situations I run into where this would be helpful is when people are alting. Ideally, a player will ask if they can alt, they do so, then send you a tell (or post in broadcast, or whatever) with their alted character name so you can invite them from there. To be sure it's the same person, we sometimes use code words ("bagel") or take a few seconds to run a /getglobalname on their pre-alted character. And, sometimes we mess up and accidentally give away someone's spot. If I could just click on their pre-alted character name a few seconds after they asked to alt and invite them again (which would send to the global rather than the character name) it could save a bit of time and potentially some frustration on everyone's part.
