Omg i started in Liberty. Some of you will even remember my crazy rddside Blue Centurion rute who ran. Anguard Line VG for about 6 months nonstop recruiting before i moved to Freedumb

I fully agree. Every couple weeks i will need a purple set that is either very short supply or “premium prices”. —-> looks at the 500-1000 enhancement converters i tend to have. When you have a hammer everything indeed looks like a nail. I start lowballing bids on purp sets that are not popular. Convert convert convert. While doing this i may buy a few extra. Or notice a huge pricing discrepancy. And buy a few extra. Convert convert convert. Flip. But this is not my preferred money making method. I craft and convert and sell. Makes me feel i am giving back keeping my fellow geeks (and my) endless alts supplied with globals and procs. But it is not uncommkn for me to do it on e or twice a month on yellow salvage. I believe it is not trolls. Nearly zero evidence. Here are the facts i “know”; 1) a lot (this number has been researched extensively, someone said it and i believed them). Of players do not sell salvage on the market. They dump it at a vendor to clear their bags. Except for rare. And some dump that - okay i hope not. 2) The drop rates for uncommon is not huge. 3) people are crafting more, following my own trend which the good folks of the boards taught me and i encourage anyone to do when the topic of money/converters comes up in help. My evidence for this is the steadily downward pressure on sales prices on globals and procs the last couple months Rejoice! It is the signs of a vibrant player base and hate the flippers. Someone, you get the torches. And you, pitchforks. Meet in the town square at midnight. We have work to do

For style there is one that wins hands down, It is the HUGE interior vertical room with dozens of ramp and probable 15? stories high. Having said that it can be a true pain to find a NPC objective in the room. I don't use macros for that stuff and hunting the right "X" has left me irritated. But the weird style and crazy ramp battles? NICE! and of course epic villain monumental architecture ftw.

Thanks for the tips about procs. The build is slot hungry unfortunately, although I am still in rough draft. A LOT of ranged defense is 6piece sets. grrr. Also trying to squeeze on another full power pool because I am drooling over magic click mez prot. Ah, the joys and frustration of building. Since this fires a lot it deserves at least one proc though. Maybe something annoying like a hold or thematic like neg energy damage. I will keep it in mind thanks. So, this may be the reason Touch of the Beyond slipped past me, because it was part of the rewrite for Blasters? Or did I just miss it from years of not wanting what looked like a Blapper focused set?

Nope. This was meant to be informative not explorative. Rollerball already dropped out of the shoot, game is in play on Excelsior, moving on also to address points brought up. I had saved 2 names actoss all but one server when i started. Level 1 placeholders. So i started Snarky as a Dark/Dark Blaster Rogue Sunday and started badging on Excelsior. I might move characters over but i dont think so. Strangely in this economy i have found how to kit out a 2 billion build almost as fast as i 50 one. Which is not helping my altitus so if i decide to remake characters i can happily alt again

I have recently been told my playstyle offends people on the RP server. Was told this in game and someone even specifically mentioned it on the boards in a completely unrelated post about power balances. I thought about this a while. There was definitely something to it otherwise it would not have been mentioned. I thought about the people who play teams not for grinding but for community. Maybe there was something deeper to it. I am not a sociopath, but i just dont feel any real connection to peeps i grind with for an hour or two. I try to be nice, but i have boundaries that appear to collide with at least some other peoples boundaries. I am firm in my playstyle and what i enjoy. So if that offends i would rather step off than go Hatfield and McCoy. Not that difficult for me since, again, i feel no huge connection to anyone or any group in the server i have decided to move my gaming from Everlasting to Excelsior. So to those who have seen me in a bazillion TF there i did not drop off the map or go six feet under My hope is to fit in a little more Maybe it will be the same. If there is continuing friction i will probably head back to WoW which became my game after the City was killed. There you just ignore the barrens chat and drama and/or take it as part of the daily grind so Hasta la vista Everlasting. It was fun

I just rolled a Dark/Dark Blaster for theme and was way shocked by how good the non melee powers are in Darkness Manipulation. I hate blapping but jumping into close range when it is smart to fuel an entire spawn kill? Yes please. And the hidden gem is a ranged attack that kicks your regen and recovery into high gear for a short time. How did i miss that looking at this set so many times? Add that to the hard hitting ranged attack that heals you and a PBAOE end recovery and PBAoE attack/buff and you have something which is .... pretty dark
-
Took this as a theme pick (I am ever happier playing a theme) and am becoming quite shocked at how good it is. Dark/Dark. now 20. Already I can feel it revving up. If a team has grabbed agro on a group I hit aim, jump in, hit soul drain, jump out, hit a couple cones to knock peeps down (OF proc in UT) debuff them and start the burn, then hit some hard targets with insta snipe and gloom. I was honestly shocked as a lowbie that the tactic of Aim to juice Soul Drain worked so well. It hits Everybody, which just feeds the pain train when you start burning stuff down you are getting crazy effectiveness, at least in the 20-40 level range of teams I was on. Touch of the Beyond. How good is this? its ranged, I love. It is up all the time, I love. It...how much does it feed me back health/end? Then of course Dark Consumption. Gotta love a damage power that gives an entire End bar back. Not a fan of blapping, but you have to go where the money is. I will be taking no melee attacks (at least no plans at this time) But I can see where this set was thought out to be very useful. Pen Grasp, ranged. Soul Drain, Dark Consump, and Touch of the beyond are incredible gems. So, Soul Drain, Blackstar, Dark Consumpt, then jump out and cone the mess that left. Taking Soul Mastery, so two more cones. I like that I don't have to recalculate angles, just pick more damage, more debuff, or whatever is up. Building for high Ranged Def, and trying to stay 8 feet away or more unless the mobs are good and distracted.
-
is that British or Australian term for the trash can? Thought that was bin? Its not that bad. No tank, but keeps me alive even with peeps wanting to run +3 LRSF (something, no AV in room, hit me for 75% of my health bar. I was like wtf? Then hit Dull pain, Sip[hon Life, and killed the room.}

You re-sparked my interest in an old school SS/Fire Brute. I have a concept that I would enjoy. I believe with an experienced player it would be pretty tanky as long as you pick your fights a little carefully too, which sounds odd but makes sense to me
-
Thank you. Yes i suspected as much. I have run a Blaster at 50 and incarnated on live. Nrg/nrg. I was ... not great at it. I think i am a better player now but have not 50’d one on Homecoming yet. My Invul Brutes and the Dark/Dark i have just do so much damage and are nigh unkillable. (Except those pesky blue patches) i think it is time for a deeper study of Blasters, the sets strategies and setting up location target keybinds on ice. Grrr. I get frustrated with location AoE in heavy combat. Like trying to find three straight lines in a Jackson Pollock
-
I appreciate the insight. I cannot say you are wrong. I have a Tank. When i play the Tank I shepherd everyone like little lost ducks paying special attention to the ones wandering slowly in circles my Brutes do not have Taunt. They are not Tanks. If there are two Brutes on a team i will immediately tell everyone the ither Brute is the Tank and see if i can sell that. if i am the only Brute i clearly state i have no Taunt and play like a heavy scrapper. Some folks ignore this. if people are not familiar with Redside tactics and expect a Brute to use issue 1-3 Blueside Tank tactics I am okay with that. I already told them that is not what i am doing. But i am okay with them ignoring it I played Brutes when i started. Which means i played Redside for years. I never liked scrappers or tanks. So i am indeed mostly a solo storyline player who teams for TFs, merits, and badges. yes my “leveling brutes” die. I knew of a group who deleted characters when they die. Level 49. Die. Delete. Whole SG of them. Not a fan. I will charge +4 with a Brute and generally be somewhat effective. And sometimes i die. Which is why i have almost as many ways to rez as i do ways to port around the city. There is no way to know for sure what a Brute build you have never run will do under pressure until you have a roomful of bad stand on it. On a SS/Will or Invul build i already know. I only engage then if i know it will help. If it is useless i wont wast the resources But i do love to look at the various builds and ATs. Whenever i am not on a comfortable old build i will roll one and see how it does. I soloed Posi 1 on a Dark/Invul Sentinel today. I have never soloed a TF before. 1:04. Missed a mage and had to hunt lol. But the Sentinel performed admirably at +0/x1. Better i think than a Blaster would. At least in my hands. On a Brute i might have done better. Probably would almost sure. Sigh. Now i need to level one up to a similar level and run it to see lol But to the topic at hand. I am not sure Mids will answer the question. Mids will tell you a Fire Blaster does more damage than an energy blaster. It will tell you that a fire fire brute does more damage than a dark/invul brute. And it would be wrong most of the time. On a fire farm sure. In any other content the Fire Brute is so busy trying to survive it generally lags behind a solid engine like dark/invul. i know little about Sentinels. I have not 50’d one. I can tell you they are better (for me) as fire support on a farm because when they draw agro they have enough tools to usually survive A Sentinel has just enough tricks to get out if you notice things going south. Armor mez prot heal etc. A blaster is dead and that is how you know. At least for me. So on a farm i can reliably be fire support on a Sentinel. But with a Blaster i am face planting too often And i know they run solid in solo mission content. Even against CoT at low levels. (And not built out) these are things Mids cannot really tell you and so i come to ask of those who have experience with the AT about how much damage these things reliably do. And my known metrics (the language i know for comparison) are Brutes and Blasters i suspect that the Sentinels (effectively ) do slightly more damage than most Brutes but not outliers like Spines Fire. The interesting thing is Spines Fire, even not built for super i/o def and res are probably way more survivable than a Sentinel. But that is a guess

A Tanker is the best ‘troller in the game. Because you cant stop them from doing their job. They just keep on mezzing 17 to attack them. No matter how useless that is
-
if you do one of each it is not random and there is no need for this table

Trying to have a somewhat level headed examination of playing power. These ATs were not chosen at random. They are the ones i have personally rolled the most of post snap. (Re snap? Un snap? Errr yeah So Brutes I am down with. My native territory as it were. Blasters i have an uneasy relationship with. Like dating a crazy person. Love the excitement. Until youre dead. what i would love to do ( without devolving into nerf this or modify that) is get an idea of power level on a few things So. We put Fire Blasters as the King of damage. We can put Stone Brutes as the king of survivable (for this thread) but lets use an i/o’d invulnerability Brute. You know why an Ice Blaster enters the picture. Okay. Not as much damage as fire. And yes i am specifically talking the whole burrito. AoE and ST and all mushed together. More damage than any Brute? I honestly dont know. Could a spines /fire Brute outdamage a Ice/any secondary Blaster??? then it gets more complicated. Sentinels. Well. No damage Aura. So that at least simplifies that? Why dont sentinels get? No not going down rabbit holes okay. So focus. More or less graphed out essay wise what is the progression in damage output In a gross (some of you cheat and data mine - thank you) progression Fire/Fire Blaster > Ice/Ice Blaster > Spines Fire Brute > super strength / invul Brute. we will leave off survivability as anything besides an interesting aside. I believe everyone is more or less cognizant if those rankings where does a sentinel fit in? Pick a few. Or just add tour favorite if you are pretty sure you know did i even get the 4 i listed right lol? anyways. Thought experiment open for discussion and learning as always thanks

their epics are baked into the class

I tend to always leave on all toggles. I have even been chastised for taking an expensive toggle that is “situational” and just leaving it going. But i run a lot of dark where shoveling to fill up the blue bar is just part of the fight

This PvP enhancement is messing with my head. The description (clearly?) states it works in PvP Does it work in PvE? yes, I see all the best builders use it, just being thorough. Does it work in a "Click Power" and give the passive bonuses? (something like Dull pain from Invulnerability ) Or does it need to go into something like Health? Thanks.

[Community Request] I suck at character creation
Snarky replied to Bopper's topic in General Discussion
Okay. I am an artist. But i cannot explain how far your parameters are away from my style lol i never design females characters. I have painted a few but i do not design them in game. I love giant and explore monstrous shapes and oddness of the generator. I love dreary. Really the more you discussed where you were hoping to go the more i felt the bottom drop out hmmm. However. I once designed a Brute that used the white skull with a HUGE grin. I dressed that in the carnival outfit, every oiece from head to toe. Then as color theory exercise i put opposing colors on each outfit piece. Blue/orange. Purple/green. Then i would go to the item if clothing next to that and work into a complimentary color and its opposite, then mive to the next. Then step back, adjust. Get Rid of duplicates And repetitive colors given that we all love Harley Quinn (if you dont you are dead to me) i offer up some thoughts on making a badass carnie girl -

I R an Artist. I get in trouble when i say this. Man just say you are good at something and do people ever get Snarky lol ut seriously i have studied some art, took some classes and also love the costume designer in game as has been mentioned. You have given ZERO design parameters besides you want a costume okay. So here goes. Make a Huge Male. Yes the choice is important. All of them are. Take the robot template. Change the legs to armored from monstrous. Slap on mecha armor. Put a mecha armor belt on it. Change torso to robot 2 arm. Use clockwork arms. Use mecha gloves. Mecha shoulders. Mecha belt. Clockwork chestpiece. Brain in jar head. If you have a small character concept drop the height down to 4-5 feet on sliders. For brute or tank crank the height up. Boom. One costume. Color to choice -
I am seriously alting madly trying to find the right fit. Blaster was....too Blappery. Brute was....okay, Brute is a monster. I have the build full I/o'd and it still surprises me. The thing is a farmer / tank / AoE monster. But I wanted range. Real spellcaster wizard stuff. Started to level a Sentinel. It is danged hard to build one of those to any particular direction. Dark does not go to Def naturally, the armor is not heavy enough to mean much, looks nice, just not quite heavy enough and no health to sit on. But there were some really good analyses on Sentinels. About Darks minus to hit debuffs. looked at MIDs. Corruptor. I haven't tried a corruptor in forever. never ran them. Blackstar has wtf -66.66% to hit. ? really.... hmmmm. Looked at the powersets closely. Okay. That is a fine wizard indeed. So, what else might my Brute-centric lifestyle be missing? Seems like it is time o ask. Okay what ATs really shine with Dark/Dark slapped on them? Thanks.

As Snarky as I am (I got called out in game for "I saw what you posted on the boards and almost did not invite you" - to which I am still scratching my head over. I am grouchy but not recruiting (openly) for minions in my world domination schemes) I sincerely want to thank the GM team and all the 1337 geeks who have made this possible. For whatever reason you choose to devote your time and talents to dragging this half dead game back to life, fighting those who threw away the corpse but still want it, and putting up with the cacophonous roar of the living dead gamers who want ….EVERYTHING. I salute you. For whatever that is worth. THANKS!
