Khyodee Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 So read that damage procs are not that useful for brutes since they don't scale with fury. But if your build met your other requirements (soft caps ect) would you get any meaningful benefit from slotting them in attacks?
Sovera Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 They do help a fair bit even with Fury. I have a Rad/Bio built 'normal' ((5-6 slotted sets in order to reach 40% defenses) and I had an abysmal 6+ minutes time to kill a pylon (used as a metric, not because pylon killing matters). When I tried it as a Rad/EA I lost Bio's Offensive Adaptation but gained easily softcapped defenses that allowed me to frankenslot all my attacks with a bazzilion procs. Got 3:10 out of a pylon. So yes, they do help. 1 - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.
Coyote Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 I would actually think that they should do pretty well for a Brute, because a Brute already is going to have a lot of +Damage running. Adding a +30% enhancement on top of 300% may not add as much damage as adding a proc, whereas for a Scrapper with its higher base damage, adding +30% on top of 200% will be more noticeable. IO Procs work better on ATs with lower BASE damage multipliers, which means that of the melee ATs, they're best on Tankers, and then on Brutes. And they don't benefit from crits, which are for Stalkers & Scrappers, which hurts them more for Scrappers and Stalkers also (although Stalkers, with their ability to refresh Build Up, can underslot the Accuracy of some attacks and thus have more slots free to max out damage enhancing and then turn to damage procs).
Frosticus Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 For brutes procs add more damage than a lvl 50 dam IO up till about 40% rech slotting. A proc'd out brute w/ fury deals significantly more damage than just a brute with fury. I strongly suggest finding a way to slot at least 4 damage procs in your main attacks. My stone/bio is pushing toward 6 procs in most attacks othe than seismic as that needs rech slotting (ie dam/rech). Obviously the build has to jump through hurdles to accommodate that :) Earth/Psi Dom - AV killer Arsenal/Sav Dom - AV Killer Poison - a guide to the most deadly poisons
HelenCarnate Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Damage procs are most helpful on ATs with low base damage and that is perfect for brutes. If you have extra slots then yes pocs would add more damage than an extra damage IO.

If you're talking strictly based on modifiers, then it's Brutes, then Tankers. Even without the changes on beta, which push the Tanker damage modifier to just shy of the Stalker one (0.95 vs 1.0), Brutes have a lower modifier (0.75) than Tanker (0.80). Tankers get helped by Bruising currently, but that's only if they use their t1 attack. 1
