Is there ANY WAY to restore your characters from the original COH/COV, or be able to at least SEE them? I had like a handful or really well designed characters and I'd really like to bring them back.

Thanks.

There is not. Nobody has access to the old data.

Except maybe NCSoft. Maybe. The chance of us seeing it is slim.

Even then, claiming your characters would require a level of receipt-keeping which I suspect most of us just don't have, and then that runs the risk of alienating the majority of players, and would be inadvisable from a public relations standpoint.

The good news is; most people have been able to not only recreate all their characters from Legacy on Homecoming thanks to quicker levelling, more accessible rewards, and a rather lax set of regulations on powerlevelling/multiboxing/farming/et cetera, so that people have been able to surpass what their original characters had!

Oh well. *Sigh* Thanks guys.

No Archville,I just want to see the character so I can recreate the look, not get the exact player so I can be level 50 or whatever I was back then.

Ah, yes.  I know that pain.  I kept costume files for about only 1/3rd of my characters, and only had screenshots of a remaining 1/2 of those.  I -know- there are characters which I just can't remember what they looked like any more, so I've had to make them a bit differently on Homecoming.

If you can dig out any old hard drives, backups etc, then saved costume files will load into the game more-or-less okay.  If you have any of the Sentinel+ format export files, there's a parser on Titan City that will extract the costumes from them.

Yeah, thankfully I made a TON of screenshots for my alts (Name, Bio, etc) as well as my bases (still working on that). I wish I'd kept the game folder Longer, but I did eventually purge that out, losing the actual costumes and such.

I was lucky.  When I started with City, I made notes on each costume design for each character, allowing me to recreate them when I started on Homecoming last year.

I never played Live so I haven't had any trouble with those toons.

Superbase passcode (Excelsior) is "passcode-6475"

It's all a Nemesis plot.  But not everything is a Nemesis plot!

I was careful to record all of my original main characters' chief costumes, bios, and saved costume files.  Kept all that along with my screenshots and AE missions, and demorecords of my SG bases.

I used the Sentinel+ tool from the Titan Network to archive all my characters from Guardian, and kept them along with a set of character selection screen captures so that I would have references to recreate the ones I wanted most when CoH came back; I was certain that someone at Paragon Studios would have had an under-the-table set of all the code for the server and client. It took years for them to be willing to go public with it, but I was immensely gratified to have been proven right. And I have to salute the person or people who kept it safe and gave it back to us.

All of my original screenshots were destroyed when my hard-drive got fried a couple years back, so I can feel the pain too. But I think I found a little workaround from a roleplaying perspective, at least for myself.

I remade my original Tanker from live, Smash Zone, on homecoming, but I tweaked his costume a bit from what I remember making. Toned the colors back so they looked faded, made him look older, and I'm basically playing him as Smash Zone, but aged and pseudo-retired. I'm kind of playing him like Back Alley Brawler, as in he doesn't go out and save the day as much as he did, but he sticks around to show the new heroes around and teach them.

Just an idea if you're into roleplaying with your characters. Maybe they're older and their costume has aged with them, or maybe someone new came along and took up the mantle ala Miles Morales from Spider-Man, so their "new" costume is altered slightly for their own wants. That's the way I'm handling it, at least.
