Xenon Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 IO bonuses, especially set and global bonuses, have a large impact on character performance. we can also get AT-specific enhancements, that are improved by converters. https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Enhancement_Sets has the list of all the sets and their bonuses, as well as their level of availibility. some however, such as gift of the ancients or impervium armor, provide a global bonus with a maximum IO level below 50. law of five is that a set bonus can only be from five sources max, so that will impact overall selection. purple sets function even when exemplared to a lower level, so their bonuses are superior for task forces. for many builds, this means certain powers need more slots than the power would otherwise imply during leveling. this mostly matters for alternate powesets. also, an IO set will pimarily split the results between several options, resulting in a lower overall result for some powers that cant use all of those bonuses (like recharge/endurance on an auto defense power) so, what set bonuses can you not live without? what are your favorite global bonuses? I know everyone loves luck of the gambler for the recharge global. looking down the list... i have noticed that both freebird(fly)/celerity(run) and unbounded leap(jump) have a +stealth enhancement. all of these can fit into inherent fitness. with 1 slot, or with fly as a power, you could slot 3 stealth powers on any character. not a good choice for a tank (or anyone who wants to keep aggro), but an option for everyone to get stealth without needing a power for it.
Generator Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I'm fairly certain that I used to use the +Stealth Freebird piece in Fly back in the old days. I got in the habit when the Lambda trial came up, and I'd sometimes need to move past mobs at speed without getting splatted. Thanks for reminding me!

Actually, I think you cannot slot run, fly, or jump enhancement SETS in swift or hurdle. You can slot run and jump IOs, just not the sets. You can slot celerity or unbounded leap in sprint though, so you could toggle that on/off when you want the +stealth, and is what I do.

Mr. Vee Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 What Cmarnold said. Plus be careful to note that the stealth ios don't provide full stealth on their own and you can't slot two. So superspeed + unbounded or celerity in sprint is the classic combo. If you prefer fly, SJ, tp or sorcery then pool stealth works.
subbacultchas Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I'd forgotten about the stealth IOs, I may have to snag one to couple with the stealth from the first concealment power. While they can't be slotted on swift/hurdle, they can be slotted on sprint/CJ right?
Mr. Vee Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Yes, though sprint is the preferred place since CJ can take lotg and the actual travel powers can take botz.
Generator Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 If you prefer fly... then pool stealth works. This is how I did it with my guy.
Shinobu Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 If you happen to already have a power that provides partial stealth such as Steamy Mist from Storm Summoning, then a stealth IO in sprint can do the same trick as superspeed + stealth IO.

Yep, just watch out for the handful of mobs (mostly end game) that can see thru it. I used to use SS + cloaking device on my ice/device blaster to plant trip mines at the feet of my enemies
Mr. Vee Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Reminding me of fun with traps - phase shifting and dropping several mines in the middle of a mob then unphasing. Slow but never stopped being funny to me.

You wouldn't want to put a stealth IO in an auto always on power anyway. Do that and you couldn't turn the stealth off. Good luck with those escort missions.

Which I believe was their given reason for not allowing it. Also people should keep in mind that it shuts off immediately after you stop using which ever toggle it is in. So if you slot it in Sprint, you'll have to be running Sprint at all times you want invisibility. The IO states it last 120 seconds, but this seems to only be the case for click powers, not toggles.. Not a big deal if you want to use it to just stealth missions, but if you want a "combat stealth" then you'll have to use extra endurance running sprint Sprint. Same holds true for CJ/Hover. However those are commonly ran during battle regardless, so its less of an annoyance.
Redlynne Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 If you want persistent Stealth FX on your character without needing to keep a toggle running, you need to put the Stealth IO into a Click power instead. Say ... a Teleport ... Verbogeny is one of many pleasurettes afforded a creatific thinkerizer.
Murcielago Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I like the ones that add defense and recharge. I also like the ones that make me strong and pretty.
