OrionX
For an all ranged blaster I really enjoy water and BR, as they have good AOEs and their nuke is not PBAOE. What are your thoughts on the best secondary for a hover, all-ranged, blaster. I've tried a bunch but cant settle on one I like best for this task. I am not interested in any of the melee powers unless I need them as a mule and I already have a few blappers that I really like. I do prefer my +recovery to com in an aura. I have played all of the below (as well as others) up through T4 incarnates, but I'm having trouble picking a winner. /Time has some nice recharge bonus, regen seems a bit less than others, but does have an absorption tick /Energy has the nice range boost features /TA seems to have good regen/recovery and some resists /Atomic seems well rounded with some nice resists What are your thoughts? -------------------------------------------Edit------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for all the feedback. I've leveled both TA and Time. Both are awesome but TA is a little bitter. I prefer the absorb and the status effect resist is a bit better, plus i can 44.6% ranged def running with fly...not needing hover. I can also boost my psi resist by one more purple and last recharge is a hint better. Time does have better energy resist at around 50% where TA has it at 38%. General, not too expensive build below. FYI I am not a proc monster kind of guy. I can never post the build and have the formatting come out right so I'll only paste the link, \Thanks for all the feedback. http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/download.php?uc=1483&c=666&a=1332&f=HEX&dc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love the above build for a pure hover blaster. But my heart is on my fire/fire blapper. So what I've done is made an alt build for him that I can swap over to using the following macros. /macro Blap select_build 1 /macro Hov select_build 2 My Hover build is below and is Fire/Fire/Mu (Blapper is Fire/Fire/Mace and is very expensive) Build not shown as this is a hover thread. http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/download.php?uc=1447&c=642&a=1284&f=HEX&dc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dited September 23, 2020 by OrionX
Shred Monkey
Devices is good. TA is really good, but I'd skip the arrow powers because... well.. if you have a beam rifle, why are you drawing a bow? Saikochoro
I’d say tactical arrow is the best for a purely ranged hover blaster. It has everything you need for such a secondary and is a very strong secondary regardless. I’d call atomic a blapper secondary. It wants you to be melee range to get the full benefits of it. MTeague
Ice/Ice is suppossed to be almost a Controller, so pretty good at keeping range. Though I've never personally tried it, and I'm not sure how much it still relies on being near enough / midrange to keep things slow and kited vs being airborne. Haijinx
/mental was one of those traditional ranged blaster secondaries also. Obviously you give up a lot of good powers if you stay at range, but there are some really good ranged powers too.
Vanden
Pretty much every Blaster secondary has things you need to be in melee range to use. If you really want to be pure ranged, you might be better off with a Corruptor or Sentinel instead. 1 A Cheat Sheet for efficient Endurance Recovery slotting Invention Set Designer Tool Spreadsheet with every Ancillary Power Pool

Devices doesn't, and I don't believe Tactical Arrow does either. I think those are your only two real options if you don't want to skip a bunch of powers. ninja surprise
Temporal Manipulation is great for ranged. You get some great self-buffs that don't rely on being in melee. You can also do Martial and only take the self-buffs without missing out on anything, and the first punch is super handy for when something flies up to you, you bop it and make it go flying away. Carnifax
Tactical Arrow and Temporal are the two hover blasters I have (Dark /TA as a ranged Blastroller and Water/Temporal as a ranged AoE blast machine). On the Temporal I skipped all the melee attacks but took the PbAoe, mostly as an Oblit mule. I use it rarely if something gets close. The big pluses of Temporal is the Absorb shield (amazing coupled with softcap and a heal in the primary) and the extra Recharge it brings. Ive heard Plant bandied around too but never tried it.
