for all the years I've played this game, tankers have been one of my least favourite. I do have a level 50 tank elsewhere, a WP/Dark but I find it cumbersome and clunky and difficult to play.   So it doesn't get much playtime as a result but I have been recently tempted to try tankign again and I've actually had a lot of fun with the beginings of this one. She's only 25 at present but I'menjoying it a lot so I went to work in Mids

No expert on elec tankers. Turn off power surge. Click info bottom left. Thats your resists now. Here's how you could toss pieces in roughly, you'd have to shuffle in power picks and sets etc. but you look like you know what your doing. Check resist numbers. You should be aiming for something like that and i think you could do it no problem (empty stuff was just me using a very old build i have and swapping in kinetic melee just so you can see the melee defence and resists) :

Heyo. I looked over your build. I have a few notes so I'll take it step by step. Some of these will be personal opinion so please take with a grain of salt.

 

-Lightning Field

 This toggle does not drain END and give it back to you. Chance to Self Heal will also not pulse as often as you'd hope. You're better off either making this where you slap your MotT proc (it has special properties that will guarantee you at least 1 stack while in a mob, with stacks increasing in accordance to mob density), or dropping a Gladiator -Res in it and calling it a day.

 

-Concentrated Strike

 I'm not a huge fan of this attack. It doesn't deal great damage for it's animation time and recharge. Tankers also lose out on the one thing that would make it worthwhile taking on a Scrapper/Stalker in that a critical would reset Power Siphon's cooldown. Tanks and Brutes don't get that. We can find other ways to dish out damage.

 

-Conserve Power/Physical Perfection

 I promise you that you don't need these. Elec Armor's #1 strength is it's endurance management. You'd be much better of trying to reduce the cooldown on Power Sink and Energize and using those picks for something else.

 

-Grounded

 Grounded has a mag 15 KB protection as long as you are on the ground. I haven't tested if flying near the ground is good enough, but I can assure you that as long as you are planted, you won't be getting blown away by anything.

 

-Power Surge

 Power Surge is unfortunately just kind of a doodoo power all around. It grants you RES, but as an Elec Tank, we already have a ton of that. And the tradeoff is a massive -90% HP and -100% END AND -1000% Recovery. Such a shame. It looks really cool.

 

-Building DEF

 There are benefits to building DEF on a RES based armor. If you have someone on your team that can buff it further, then great! However, -DEF is one of the most common debuffs in the game. With no DDR, bringing DEF is like entering a gun fight with a pillow strapped to your chest. It's not gonna last long.

 

Taking these notes and my own experiences into consideration, I have put together some ideas for you. I'll do some more explanation on this below.

With a combo like Elec/Kin, your biggest assets are going to be ways to increase your humble DPS and decrease the wait on your key clicks. I can see that you have a couple of FF procs, but I decided to go a step further and add Cross Punch as another opportunity to proc it during combat. The more uptime, the better. As for DPS, I added the aforementioned Cross Punch (fun fact: adding Boxing and Kick increases the DMG of Cross Punch, which will become more damaging than all Kin Melee attacks excluding Concentrated Strike), Electrifying Fences, and Ball Lightning. These 3 attacks are very proc friendly AoEs and do a good job of patching up the lackluster AoE damage Kin melee presents us with. Electrifying Fences will take a bit of timing to use since it's an AoE immob, but filling it up with procs gives it pretty underrated DMG output.

 Grounded has a mag 15 KB protection as long as you are on the ground. I haven't tested if flying near the ground is good enough, but I can assure you that as long as you are planted, you won't be getting blown away by anything.

I thought this was gonna be a winner but I agree. I hadn't read the effects properly. It's one of my main beefs with many T9 powers - often they were a curse rather than a boon and this one seems to be very much in the former mould.

I actually have strong antipathy to the Fighting pool generally. I think because of its ubiquity and the fact you have to take some junk powers to help build Def (I play a lot of Blasters & Controllers) in ATs not known for their Def. That it gives me a better attack is actually really disappointing but I think I will skip it and remember to take reds and purples to compensate even if imperfectly.

Sadly my version of Mids' started playing about and I noticed that you have Synapse's Shock in Power Sink which I cannot fit and a few otehr minor glitches. But I'm pretty happy wtih the build overall. I've sacrificed some Res for some significant +Def gains and my recharge is higher I think. Overall I'm pleased wtih this - I think my DPS is going to be reasonable - I mostly team anyhow so I think I should be ok so far as damage goes.

Hyperstrike beat me to it by nine minutes. Was gonna say Electric Armor can easily hit Res cap if you truly want to get it there. I have my Scrapper capped very easily, with S/L/M 45% so passing it along to a Tanker is 100% doable.

interesting build Hyper, thanks.

 

One thing I'd not considered was what Incarnate path to go down - I will have to think of that soon thought and I was interested in seeing you had chosen Cardiac.

 

End use doesn't yet seem to be too much of an issue, so why would I choose that? I was thinking more along the lines of boosting damage output or at the very least increasing accuracy.

Primarily for the additional Resist.
But I'm one of those people who prefers to keep resting End consumption as low as possible if I can.
It generally means that I can put most of my concentration into just "ATTACK!  ATTACK!  ATTACK!"


As for additional accuracy.  You'll notice the Acc numbers are 80+ to 90% improved ALREADY.
Tossing in ToHit and you aren't missing much.


Could I get SLIGHTLY better numbers off Resilient?  Yeah.  SLIGHTLY.  Neg would jump from 83 to 86 but Tox wouldn't move.

The slight bump in Defense from Agility is negligible.  But, with nearly-capped Resists, that becomes less important.
Defense, on a Resist tank is to fend off Alpha strikes.

Yes, you could realize a fractional damage increase from Musculature.

After throwing the build together, how do you feel Kinetic Melee pairs with Elec Armor on a tanker? It seems you have a nice mix of procs/standard tanky build. I guess I'm wondering how KM sticks up to the other tanker Secondaries.

Honestly I find KM a nice CONCEPTUAL mix of a set.
In practice, it plays kinda slow.  Yes, I know, it claims to be "light and fast".
In reality, the animations make it feel really chunky.

Invincible Woman is now 47, and I'm really enjoying her. She even solos reasonably well (but oh so slowly)

 

As somebody not used to tanks I find her survivability and sustain a very pleasant change but clearly there's a trade off because it's a game.

 

I'm looking forward to getting her to 50 and slotted properly and incarnates. I feel like she might do resonably well.

Well she got to 50 and that seemed good

 

Did a respec as per my build - but I'm missing a lot of the vital components so filling in with SOs where applicable. I noticed two big issues

 

1) My Mu cannot stand the pace. I summon him and he flakes on me the moment I get into battle. This was an unanticipated but predictable outcome had I thought it through so I need to change my Patron power to something else. Suggestions welcome.

 

2) I'm also suffering real End issues when solo. IT seems I'm barely building an excess of End. I know it'll come good when I get her slotted properly but I think I have to endure pain until then. It does however reinforce Hyper's contention that Cardiac is the way to go.

 

All feedback welcome. Thanks for your input so far 🙂

Quick update folks:

 

I've been enjoying Invincible Woman immensely

 

She's T3 on most incarnate stuff and  I have just three powers un-IO'd - she's tough. I'm yet to try her on x8+4 and I've failed at a fire farm in the AE (but even less imperfectly slotted & IO'd)

 

In most teams she does very well and holds her own in ITrials with only the occasional faceplant.

 

Overall I'm very pleased and this has allowed me to really enjoy tanking!

There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.

Yeah, there's just something to be said for a Tank that has a nuclear bomb go off in their face, blinks, smiles, and goes right back to breaking villains; s**t.
