Hi:

I do not know if there is a way to switch detectives for PI radio missions, as in ditch Selnum for McLord? Or can Detective Selnum be relocated to stand outside, maybe by the door to the police station?

When having a group together to do PI missions, having to go to Detective Selnum and forced to zone into the police station, go all the way to the back. is a needless time sink, it would be less aggravating if he was just moved outside like Detective McLord.

Thank you

Sue

I wonder how difficult it would be to simply make the police station interior part of the PI map, (have the door open on the police station), so you can simply walk in and talk to the contact.  The elevator inside can still be a mission entrance as it is now...

You would have to make a new map.

Edit:

For clarification, all zone building interiors are already part of the zone map. You don't actually change zones when you enter/exit a building on any of the maps unless you are entering/exiting an instance.

To the best of my knowledge what happens when you click a door in the zone is your character is teleported to another part of the zone map that is the building interior. Basically a sub-map of the zone typically located well below the surface of the zone map itself. It is still part of the zone map though. That is why entering/exiting a building in any zone does not change what papers/radios you have available, because you are still in the zone in question.

Since the sub-map is physically separate from the main map for direct access though, to avoid the current teleport in/out of interiors, the map would have to be completely remade so that the interior map is actually in the building interior. And you would still need to use doors like in the Praetorian sewers otherwise the character would still need to be teleported coming and going.

Could be camera perspectives, but I get the feeling that a lot of the buildings we have access to are "bigger on the inside" - especially City Hall and the Arenas.  Not sure if the police stations are on that list, but it wouldn't surprise me.  So, they'd likely not only have to bring it up to the surface and change out the doors, they may have to make a significantly smaller / simpler interior, or you wouldn't even be able to *get* to that elevator without being escorted (shoved) out of the building by a patrolling NPC.

I believe this is right - if you target a teammate, then walk into a store, you can still see them targeted... about 200-300 ft above your head.  The AE buildings may be exceptions to this, as you can see people flying by the upper windows while you're inside.  (You can even see people standing on the balcony outside the upper doors, IIRC)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure every accessible building interior in the game other than AE and the Grandville tower (at least the top area with the patrons/Recluse) is bigger on the inside than the outside. AE is different in that it is designed to be accessed on the zone base (surface) map, so when you enter it, you are not shifted to below the zone surface map where the Live devs had to fit the other interiors.

Edited to add "and the Grandville tower (at least for the top area with the patrons/Recluse)".

... and sometimes something glitches and you get to see it.

Yea, there's no "zoning" to get into the Police Station, and you can Teleport Target people out of it for instance.  If you need to do a bunch of PI missions, changing to Detective McLord is not a big deal.   Might take a few tries because the RNG hates you, but it will happen eventually when it decides to mess with someone's hit chances.

I think half of the detectives should be inside police precincts... and the other half should be outside and away from police precinct, anywhere from right next to the police van to conceivably any location where they could be investigating a crime. But more important than their locations, I think we should be able to call detectives like any other contact.  Seriously, why don't they have cell phones? And especially the ones in the police precincts where they have land lines, why can't we call them??  Is the time sink of making us travel to the contact in person REALLY important anymore now that this isn't a subscription-based game?
