elec/elec/elec for me!

 

zappy!

 

tesla cage spreads chains!

 

works well with combat teleport binds to hop in and out: 

  /bind ` powexec_location target combat teleport

  /bind shift+` powexec_location 180:40 combat teleport

 

elec epp adds a nice, and thematic, cone, among other usefuls.

 

its not quite fire damage, but its not too far off.

Primary:  Fire for pure damage.

 

Secondary:  Devices, since I prefer staying at range, and it offers stealth, some area denial tools, a great tohit buff toggle, and a pet!

 

APP/PPP:  Mace Mastery, since who doesn't love a defense shield and some cute widdle spiderlings to clean your room!

I'm thinking  Most meta / best to play / most effective should be three different pools.

 

I'm not even sure how to judge what is "most meta".

"Best to play" is alway the one I'm currently paying.

"Most effective'? I don't care! It about character conception to me!

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I'm pro-blaster, and I'm fine with polls.

I'm just not sure how to approach the poll based on the way that it's set-up so gave my "polling" information in text versus voting.

there are 3 sections:

primary for the blaster AT

 

secondary for the blaster AT

 

epic power pool for the blaster AT

 

for each of these, all the available hc power sets are arranged, alphabetically.

 

click a radio button in the web ui to elect your choices!

i didn't vote either because my solo blaster is very different from my team blaster and they are both meta in different ways. (at least to me)

some early leaders:

 

- best primary

 

fire 🔥 - damage, dots, damage

 

energy - skilled kb users or many kb->kd, or those who like chaos

 

ice - rains, good st chain.

 

seismic - much survive vomes from the kd pbaoe effect, staligmite empowered hits tons, cone is quick, i know this works well on a kin corruptor, tho not done blaster.

 

water - good aoe. some people dont like water jet 

 

 - best secondary

 

fire - eh, sure. i dont like the pbaoe, its so slow. cauterizing aura is good.

 

elec - nice mix for slot diversity, good survive toggle 

 

energy - range, powerboost, and stun interactions? hard hitter melee.

 

devices - never done it, bombs and stuff

 

temporal - recharge focus, shield on the survive toggle.

 

 - best epic power pool

 

firey - bonfire, self rez

 

mace - def shield

I won't argue against a Bonfire with Knockdown, but for me it's all about Rise of the Phoenix getting my Blapper back in the fight.

The confusion is in the "Most meta / best to play / most effective"

 

I can't vote on "best". 

I can't even really vote on "favorite", but I would be better able to vote on "favorite" than "best".

 

Your goal is good.

People have had problems with my polls as well.

Please do not take my criticism harshly.

 

I provided my vote in text versus using the poll provided as it doesn't allow me to vote the way that I would.

I guess I can say that:

I play less Dark, FIre, Ninja, and Sonic than the other secondary sets. I don't think I have any Blasters with Atomic, Devices, or Temporal secondaries.

I only have one character with a villian epic pool power, and I don't think they are a blaster. I think I only have couple of blasters that have picked an epic, and the only ones that I know for sure that would pick epics would take Munitions to get the LRM Rocket due to character conception.

 

So you see, it is impossible for me to vote in your poll due to my situation.

thanks for the infos.

 

most meta is really highly subjective, but theres some that among, say, primary sets, would be high up on a tier list for anything.

 

our probably most powerful raw is fire.

 

our most meta, these days might be assault rifle due to the rework.

 

maybe less so with storm as its underwhelming to some/most.

 

psi? it got buffed, and psi darts is much improved. the range buffs from the snipe are funny when combined with many cones.

 

Sonic secondary 'should' get more love than it does, and im hoping we see some votes for

dual pistols/mental, or dp/ice etc.

 

rad blast is sort of crappy on a blaster, as youve not the monster debuff numbers from defender/corruptor, and hit pretty weakly.

 

same goes for dark blast.

 

but all that above, is my damned opinion, and definately not meta to player-abc.

 

so, if you choose to vote, pick what you'd advise to yourself, if you were rolling fresh perhaps.

 

if thats your flavor of the day, so be it, and please 😀

I think I follow now.

You want people to pick which powers are the most OP (OP meaning "overpowered" in this case).

 

Meta meaning “most effective tactics available” vs "the parts of gameplay such as systems, mechanics, and loops that a player repeats to make progress". I actually was reading meta as targeting on fitting into the World/"City" lore.

 

"Best to play" meaning "which is the most powerful" vs "which is the most fun to play".

 

And ... "Most effective" to meaning "which is the most powerful" vs the facts that the effects of different power effects and set dynamics are situational and are augmented in different ways by team synergy.

 

That is to say, all three terms mean the same thing "overpowered"

 

So I yield to my error in not realizing you were asking which of each in a category are "overpowered". 

 

I apologize for bothering you with my request for clarification.

 

This understanding changes my results to more complexly:

I don't care. I don't judge or play sets because I or anyone else thinks that they are overpowered.

I'm a character conception player. I pick powers to fit the character that I am designing.

ok for solo play 

I love my energy/martial

Its got lots of aoes

fully blaps (softcap positional defenses)

good crowd control

looks great and is fun i've completed 99% of game content on this character with no issues whatsoever.

 

For Team play

Arrows/Arrows BUT WAIT THERES MORE!

ok so arrows has very very good 

AOES

Crowd control

Damage

Recharge time

Silent

Deadly

Not flashy (which is great on *cough* some bright teams)

 

The only downside to arrows is a slow T9 cast time, which hits even when is misses and has one of the fastest recharges in the game for a T9

ive been meaning to make an arrow/tac arrow. i had a beam rifle/tac arrow, and enjoyed the 2ndary.

 

i hear some builds can get rain o arrows down to some 15s!

Kinda seems more like he'd be a necro/pain/soul mastermind...

 

On a somewhat related note, I tend to weigh concept over actual effectiveness, so if you want to stick to blasters, maybe dark blast?  Also, I rather like the earth manipulation or devices secondaries, so give them a look...

Given the look, perhaps other reasonable candidates could include the ice primary or DP primary matched with /dark, /ice, or /ninja secondaries.

I'd say... not an archer. Those chains are asking to get caught in a bowstring. (they look good, though!).

 

Could definitely see him as a Beam Rifle + (psi/atomic/dark)

 

Edit to add : Soul or Cold epic pool.

in honor of our poll, sorta, i settled after hours of indecision on fire/mental/will-be-firey

 

already the cones double up is messing stuff.

 

combat tp, stupid-kick/tough/weave, hasten, no travel.

 

character is named: Figs likes custard 🍮😋

 

the good kind, powdered. made right. thick, like best hot soup.

 

maybe with jam roly-poly, if your sophisticated, or sticky toffee pudding... or apricot oat cakes.
