Car color change outside city hall

I did say possibly. I don't know if the static vehicles are map geometry elements or if they are added on elements.

We aren't talking about adding something from pop culture for players to play with. We are talking about the random color change of an existing map element. Why should that be changed? If you're keen to defend the proposal, then give an explanation why it should happen.

Map geometry elements? Added on elements? The entire world map isn't one singular mesh object. Games don't do that and CoH isn't an exception.

Do you play with seeing an occasional zombies that reference other games or people from media? Or an NPC having the name of a joke from MST3K? Or text in various arcs referencing things? There are even multiple references in the game that are just assets in the world. Such as the spot in monster island that references Castaway. Are you "playing" with any of these?

Yes. A reference to the Fairly Odd Parents.

You're right in that not everything is a single mesh. However, because I don't know what parts of the zone are parts of the geometry and what aren't, I say "possibly". If it isn't, then it isn't. If it is, then it is. And I don't have to bother with what is or isn't.

With no reason given for why a change is being requested, I am limited in what I can think of as reasons. The most obvious one being that maybe the author wants to do some RP and the car is the wrong color for it. Still not a good reason t change the car's color, but a reason. And that would be playing with it. So, yes, players play with those elements.

If the author does not want to bother giving reasons, then it falls to those reading the suggestion to come up with possible reasons for the request. And since neither you nor the author felt like bothering with actually giving a reason for the request, the rest of us are left floundering in the dark trying to figure out why the request may have been made.

Thank you for playing. We have a lovely parting gift for you.

I did give a reason. Multiple times. I straight up replied saying it was a reference to the Fairly Odd Parents.

This response doesn't actually challenge my question, or even answer it. There are pop culture references in this game. This suggestion is a pop culture reference. You see the pop culture reference and you either understand it, or you don't. Were you aware that there's a reference to Vampire: the Masquerade in the game? The Simpsons? Pokemon? Star Trek? James Bond? Michael Jackson? You do not play with a reference, it just exists. With this being restated, what makes this particular one bad? Is it because you got baited and are now upset or do you have a legitimate reason for disliking this one in particular?

Here is every post you made in this thread up to now:

I don't think replacing a single asset constitutes as reworking the zone.

Also: what does a PvZ reference add to the game? Or any other pop culture reference the game is littered with?

The reason is because it's a pop culture reference. Do you have a reason why those shouldn't be in the game?

It isn't until that last post, after the rest of us had finally figured out it was a Fairly Odd Parents bit that you finally state it is a Fairly Odd Parents bit. So, no, you didn't. I'm done with this thread. Bye.

Edit: Oh yeah, you asked me questions.

Were you aware that there's a reference to Vampire: the Masquerade in the game?  Nope.

The Simpsons?  Nope.

Pokemon?  Nope.

Star Trek? Nope.

James Bond? Nope.

Michael Jackson? Nope.

With this being restated, what makes this particular one bad? Because something that already exists is being asked to be changed for a reference only some people will get.

Is it because you got baited and are now upset or do you have a legitimate reason for disliking this one in particular? So you are saying you and the author were intentionally ambiguous to bait responses. Got it.

Clearly it's a reference to:

It can be Kermit and MISS Piggy too!

@Greycat  Not much to sell, just a micro edit for players to either connect or not connect, much like many other in game already! Very small lighthearted stuff, not really the large combative suggestion this forum may be use too!

He's not the Author so he wouldn't know my intentions! I'm not really sure why you're being so hostile. There is no need, It's just a small reference I'm sure plenty would get as It was a cultural phenomenon In the early 2000s

As for any connection whatsoever to CoH, one could argue the Fairly Oddparents frequently show casing super heroes on its show could have contributed to its mainstream popularity overall pre-MCU.

To be fair, only some people will get any reference. I'm not even trying to be a smart-aleck pointing that out; it's just the nature of things. We could put a dry cleaners into the game labeled Tony Starch and there will still be people whose heads it goes over.

How do we know the particulars car colors are not already a reference to something

I think the answer to this should be "I doubt anyone would notice if the cars changed colors."

It will neither help nor hinder the game as a whole for this to take place. People who get the reference will have a chuckle, and to everyone else they're two cars next to one another.

And, as has been stated, I have no idea how possible or easy such a request is. If it is easy, I see no reason why not. If the change would take more than 15 min, it's probably not worth doing.

And I know the answer to "why" was danced around, but once someone posted the FOP video I got it. I would not have noticed in the wild, but that's because it's not for me.

Frankly, I don't care what references are in there as long as it's not bigotry.

I wonder how many "Fairly Odd Parent" fans are out there, and how many would even recognize the 'joke' if they saw it.  If they wanted to really drive the point home it seems that they might need to add a couple of people with odd hair colors, too.  Not that that would help people that didn't already know, and some people that might know still might miss the joke.

And who says that there isn't already a pink and green car out there somewhere in the world in close proximity to each other already?

Everything takes some time and effort to change, and I can't help but think that just about any time or effort would be better spent on other things.  I can't think that it wouldn't take at least several minutes to make this happen, though, and with the limited crew those minutes might be important elsewhere.

it's like trying to pull teeth to get answers.

I just realized that a lot of time would be saved, and a lot of arguing would stop I’d the mods just locked any request that didn’t have an explanation in the request.

It was answered multiple times, you and others who did not understand the reference, which is entirely different, does not mean it went unanswered.

Same to you, it was explained multiple times with a follow up full explanation of the reference for those who do not get it on page 1.

As i said to Rudra, I apologized for not taking our older players into account, as Fairly Oddparents was a massive TV Show for kids starting in 2001. I'm not sure why the lot of you are still going on that this has not been explained.

I would recommend checking older posts in the thread before commenting to check if your questions/concerns were answered or to look for missing info!

Edit:  I've added the full context for those unaware of Fairly Oddparents in the original post to alleviate that issue 🙂
