The base owner (the character with the red star in the member list) must submit the entry in this thread with:

  • Your character name: Blue Metal

  • Your Global handle: @BlueMetal

  • Are you the owner? Yes

  • Are you the builder? Yes

  • Your base’s name: The Legends of Paragon City

  • The shard it is located on: Torchbearer

  • The passcode for entry: LEGENDS-14685

  • The category your base is entering under: Realistic

  • Contributing builders’ names or Global handles: N/A

I designed this for my characters, who mostly all have either flight or access to a non-native flying power such as a skiff, so it originally did not have an elevator. I added one to accomodate newer alts that were still to aquire flight. The legend (pun intended) for the elevator selection points is on Aleph (Ground Floor). Other than that it is all open with no 'secret' areas. One handy design feature is that when you rez in th ebase you can walk out the open door and drop strignt onto the base portal one floor below to easily return to the zone you dead in. Below the entry point are all the shops: Trainer, Icon, Hero Corp Analyst and Store, however there are additional trainers and shops elsewhere on the base.

SANDIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!

The base owner (the character with the red star in the member list) must submit the entry in this thread with:

  • Your character name (Red Star Holder): Arisara the Defender

  • Your Global handle: @Arisara

  • Are you the owner? Yes

  • Are you the builder? Yes

  • Your base’s name: Heavy Metals

  • The shard it is located on: Excelsior

  • The passcode for entry: hm-5717

  • The category your base is entering under: Novice

  • Contributing builders’ names or Global handles (Up to 5, including yoursel): @Azzi Wolfe, @Amphipolis, @Electrafry, @LongHunter, @Zand

  • Additional Information: Below outta the way of the precise beauty of this submission design

Additional information: This was my first attempt at an outdoor base. I had a hard time for a while; I didn't know grid size could be changed. I've later noticed the simplicity of placing ground surface last (grass, dirt, whatever) to hide clipping (shimmering) under large objects placed first. Still.. It's different than any other I've seen of the absolute divine bases others have made. I haven't yet seen another with the multiple levels I use. Others Have visited Heavy Metals and missed areas (teaching me to mind making my dreams easy to find in the new base I'm building now). I though I should reference the areas:

Entry (open area with castle in town)

Mansion in Entry area entered from teleporter at door. All in-base teleporters in other areas deliver passengers to the gazebo outside the Mansion.

Space ship above entry (teleport on ground to one level inside space ship. Note view screen is at actual angle to appear to be displaying statue outside)

Volcano (open access from entry and path from the Pyramid)

Pyramid (Intended to appear to be the power center for the base. The energy flows all line up). Tunnels lead to Volcano and Mario Cave).

Mario Cave has a fisherman facing away from the fish. Rock platforms let a non-sprint jump between entrances to Pyramid and Dungeon.

Dungeon is a maze in places with paths to Mario Cave below and Entry above.

Flying outside the base area limit shows it all walled up. After finishing the job I thought of sealing only one level.. the entry; those brick walls are invisible on one side making them     perfect for sealing an area and still viewing the sky beyond. The rest of the brick plates can be used for other, more relevant space. There is a scene to view for those that use the time   to fly outside.

I so enjoy multiple level building with interesting detail (thank you Homecomming guys for the attention you've put into option and function of base building). Any memory that could be spared to add to base size I would not decline 🙂 though it is art to create a background that says much with 1023 or less characters and art to create a base with everything you want using 20k or less objects. ..And kinda nice when you don't fit in everything you want. Start the next base with that!

  • Contributing builders’ names or Global handles: @Teirusu (Me) and an unknown.  (Base was originally from the September raffle, @Faverty Events?)

  • Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand:

Definitely recommend Visscale 3+ and you'll need to be able to fly to see everything on the outside.  There's some stuff on the underside of the asteroid.  All the internal spaces are inside the asteroid.  The base rock piece is 'Island Rock Large 2' and you might note that I lined up the center lift straight through it.  There's also an additional pocket dimension you can find while exploring the portals.

    OOC info:

As mentioned, this base was originally one of the raffle bases from @Faverty Industries September raffle/base auction.  When I first saw it, I knew I wanted this base.  I felt it had a lot of possibilities.  I had actually done base building back on live and a tiny bit on the secret server... but hadn't had the base building bug hit me until about now.  So, I was very lucky to both win a raffle roll but, also got to pick this base.

It's been a passion project to make a personal home for one of my main characters, Jane Zim, whom I felt deserved a little home base for a while now.  While I originally had a different concept in-mind for a home base for Jane, this turned out to be more interesting story-wise.

Thank you @Faverty Industries and whomever originally started the base, if not you. ❤️

    Stellar32-1.thumb.jpg.7a3426df8cf11f8627c2149f51d1765a.jpg

    The Lore:

    Spoiler

Stellar 32 Station is a passion project and home base for the well renowned alien hero: Jane Zim.  Jane is a Watcher type alien and has been studying Earth for over 100 years now.  She's kept mostly to herself during much of that time from her personal ship (Which is not part of the base.) just studying and observing Earth. Her race does have a 'do not interfere' (prime directive) rule.

However, when the Rikti invaded, that all changed and Jane started to make herself known.  Even changing and adapting her body to a more human-like form to better interact with humans.  These days, she is quite tightly aligned with Vanguard to help guard Earth from outside threats and allows her to operate freely as she likes.  This increased interaction with Vanguard and Earth, in general, made her realize that she needed a home base of operations that wasn't her personal crystalline spaceship...  It's just far to advanced, and too much of a personal security risk, to bring anyone there.

Thus was the beginnings behind the idea of Stellar 32 Station.  To abide by her race, and her own rules, it's built (..Mostly) with only the best tech and magic that that exists on Earth Prime.  (Although, some is from some.. nearby dimensions.) Much of it salvaged as trophies and spoils of war.  As mentioned, Vanguard generally allows this in exchange for her cooperation, knowledge, expertise, and.. capabilities.

Stellar 32 is a cored out asteroid that was once part of the mantle of a long destroyed planetoid.  Not only is it mostly solid rock but also filled to the brim with macro crystalline solids that originally formed as the planetoid cooled.  These are perfect for one of her several hobbies; creating power crystals.  Something that her own kind excels at for their own magic-tech abilities.  Although, the power crystals she's been producing are... within the abilities to be produced by anyone on Earth.. if they have the right knowledge, ability, and tools.  She has a special crystal forge in her bedroom to create them.

    CrystalForge1.thumb.jpg.7006c5d875214eabcebe923db703a1c6.jpg

The asteroid was cored out using both a small army of robots and specially crafted magic spells and parts of it, especially the lab level, are.. somewhat a disorganized mess.  Jane, whom is somewhat an eccentric lone wolf mastermind type, has all sorts of salvage, 'trophies', and collections of both tech and magical items scattered about.. just waiting for time for Jane to study and dissect them down to the atomic level.. or rebuild into something new.

Jane, being quite renowned at this point, and mentioned mastermind-type, has built up -quite- a lot of personal defense for the asteroid.  Various turrets, robots, and forcefields, and magical wards protect the entirety of the asteroid.  Technically, the asteroid has enough reserve power to do a 'jump' to a pocket dimension, if need be but.. Jane has backups to backups.. to backups.  Which is why there's, at least, half a dozen reactors on the asteroid.. just in-case!

All that spare power goes towards portals and teleport tech which is another one of her hobbies.. so there's several teleport/portal machines scattered around throughout the base with various abilities.  The jewel of her collection is the Quantum Rift portal located on the Lab floor.  Perhaps one of the most capable portal devices on Earth Prime.  Not only does it have similar abilities to the D-Rifter portal tech.. but also has ability to connect and send to different times periods, as well.  This, along with the various super-computers and magical oracles that are interconnected together through a high-tech crystalline conduits.. actually allow the Quantum Rift portal to track Jane through any space, dimension, sub-dimension, and time and pull her back in-case of any emergency.

Haven't put this in the base registry because it's not done, but the main room is awesome.  The base is completely open; it can all be reached with flight.  Teleport won't work because there are 27 invisible surface towers positioned evenly, blocking teleport targeting, that I don't want to delete until it is done.  All portals are marked by arcane NPCs and all arcane NPCs mark portals.

Must have water effects set to at least low.  Water looks terrible on none.

Gonna swoop in here with a last-minute entry (the "base name" is just the SG name). In-character, this is meant to be a small abandoned car factory that has been converted into home for a small group of reformed Freakshow who are trying to be heroes despite facing distrust from other heroes, an abysmally-low budget, and lack of recognition from the wider populace of Paragon City. Out-of-character, this was my first substantive effort at figuring out the base editor, which I ended up tying into the base's IC narrative of being bare-bones and full of miscellaneous things. Hope you enjoy!

  • Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand: While Prestige is no longer active, I still opted to design a base using only the default plot size.  Both for challenge and for minimalism, while having more going on than just the single room style of base building.  It's origin themed and "Mutant" was the most clear idea I had.  There were two major inspirations for the style of the base but I also want it to stand on it's own.  Some things I couldn't pull off but I'm mostly satisfied with the workarounds.

@Arisara, the rule here says, up to 5, including yourself, but you list 5 and not also yourself. If we include you, which generally I do, because you submitted it, that would be 6 globals. Which global do you want omitted?

Well, I'm not a competitive sort, and I'm fairly certain my base-building skills won't earn me any prize, as they're not as good as others,' I'll enter so the base I've built can be seen by more people who might need it, as it was built to be used as a community TP hub and work area.

Hopefully, it's not TOO ugly, as it's the only world-building type of thing I've done in years since my old 3D world ThisIsIt, which I had to shut down about a decade ago for lack of funds to keep it running and to pay the top trivia scorers cash prizes to encourage people to learn (which I did for years, despite the fact that I was living in poverty, and, technically, still am). But, my world-building skills haven't been used for some time and this is a totally different editing UI and these old eyes aren't as good as they used to be . . .

Tip for others with bad eyes: To see player names better in Team window: Menu > Options > General tab > Miscellaneous section > Classic Team UI set to Enabled. 🙂

  • Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand:  Primarily built for new players or those who haven't played the game in years. The teleport portals are sorted by hero, villain, praetorian, hazard, co-op and fast-levelling zones and the level ranges are listed above each (to hopefully save the lower-level characters from going to a higher-level zone and getting debt from being defeated). There's two more main rooms besides the entrance. One has the NPCs and areas to relax in while the other is primarily a workshop. There's some hidden rooms, but, they're nothing fancy. • The Action Figures SG base began as a one-room-with-every-function base, so I've kept that focus in the main chamber, though that single room is massively expanded.  There also may be copies of functions elsewhere.

  • Exteriors are not accessible, but can be viewed from the large windows on second floor.

  • The "Tower of Power" Plant chamber is not accessible, however, you can view it from a large observation window around the corner from its guarded entrance.  Just don't bang on the glass.  The attending guard doesn't like that.

  • Before I understood that some glass items hide kinetic effects, I put up a lot of that glass.  I've replaced some of it since, but please be so kind as to look around the glass to see any hidden effects.

  • Generic statues were made part of the lore of the Action Figures SG as representing (fictional) past members and have had holo effects added to reflect their abilities. (One of these is a two-stage effect, so watch for that) Names of these characters are in gold letters on the walls near them (or a plaque in one case).  There is one game lore character also honored as a former ally to the SG.  Oh, and there's a tip of the hat to poet Ogden Nash.  See if you can find it!

  • The main chamber was deliberately designed for a sweeping vista.  Try standing in the bottom corners and look both up and long.  It was also deliberately designed to have as many kinetic effects as I could squeeze into it.  I felt a base for Action Figures should have, well, action.

  • Several functional items are disguised, and their locations have been labeled with gold lettering:
⦁    Rewards Center - pretty self-explanatory (Mimics a certain big company's delivery destination.)
⦁    Empowerment Chamber - click on the black area  (I built this on a whim to mimic some of the outlandish props sold with action figures.)
⦁    Interchangeable Parts - a.k.a. enhancement storage.  (Since action figures often have interchangeable parts) The rear workbench is the active area
⦁    Inspirational Corner - The 3 coins not in the fountain form the interactive spot.
⦁    Vaults - Salvage storage is behind the electrified "Clear-steel" walls, in the various safes embedded in white marble.  Please note: if searching for the interactive hand cursor, some of these vaults are a bit finicky.  You may have to move the cursor around a bit.)
⦁    Oroboros Aspect Pillar - I'll let you find the not-so-secret "secret".  It's close to one of the zone teleporters.

  • Bonus - Duck Hunt - (NOT essential, just done for a bit of fun for visitors) A city in my real life region has hidden several bronze mice around Main Street as a popular hunting game for visitors.  I've adapted this to what is at hand.   Several rubber ducks have been hidden around the base.  All are visible from a walking position, though some are easier to spot than others. Color camouflage exists for a few, and a couple of ducks, though visible from a walking level, might also be spotted from a nearby elevated feature.  See how many you can find!
    Clues:
    1.    A bird in hand...
    2.    Robber ducky
    3.    On the shoulders of giants
    4.    Wood duck likes "mugging" for the visitors
    5.    "Press"ed duck
    6.    Sitting duck
    7.    Lame duck
    8.    Duck and cover
    9.    A duck to water
    10.    Steamed duck
    11.    Roast duck
