On new characters I usually just ask someone in AP to drop an Oro portal, so I can get access.  On Everlasting, Speck showed me you can get it by just zoning into the PVP zone and back in AP.

I had no clue that was a way to get it.  I really do learn something new every week in this game, which is crazy after so many years.

Anyway, just dropping this PSA here in case others were also not aware.

Also bears pointing out that the PvP zone in question is Recluses Victory which can be accessed inside City Hall in Atlas. Go in, hang a right, go down the stairs, go in the second door on the right into the Tech room, go down the elevator in the back (where an exploration badge also is) and when get off the elevator you'll be looking at the portal to RV. Go down, click on it and you'll hit the zone and get the Oro portal.

Still seems simpler to ask someone ha ha, but I suppose on an empty server that can help.

It's part of the routine for any new alt of mine. I run around, get all the exploration badges in Atlas except in the Vanguard depot, get the Oro portal, go to Oro, get the badge there, exit to Talos, get the badge on the hill, tram back to Atlas, go to the Vanguard depot, get that badge, go to RWZ and get the badge in the base. Now I've got the Oro portal, the zone port power, 3 zones tagged already and then I just go to the Icon person there and do up all my other costumes for free.

When I start a blue character, I do much like @Skyhawke does.  I run Outbreak, then go to Atlas Park, level to 2, and get the free jet pack.  I then go south towards Vanguard and defeat one or more Hellions on the way which will get me a few inf which gives me enough to post my large inspirations on the /AH at 1 inf and this gets me 10k+ starting inf.  I get the exploration badge in Vanguard, exit, then get all the outdoor exploration badges in Atlas using the jet pack (ms. Liberty, top of atlas, top of city hall, Wong, building north of tram) then enter city hall and get the other two badges there (plaque to the left at entrance, entrance to the pvp zone by the tech guy).  Check in to Recluse’s pvp zone and now I’ve got the portal and the Atlas exploration badge and 5 merits.  I’ll usually then go to p2w vendor and buy Reveal for 10k and anything else free I want.

Usually then I take the truck to Pocket D, get the badge on blue side, get the trucker badge in the winter chalet with the jet pack, and buy the revive power with inf and 20 candy canes that I have in character items menu that I have from having opened lots of winter packs in the past.  Then I got to the gull and set my settings, maybe set my alignment, and get the gullible badge.  If I want, I’ll then go to the nvention tables and start to work on making inf for this character.  Now ive set Atlas and Pocket D for my long distance teleporter which comes free either by now or with one or two more exploration badges, I cannot remember when that activated.

also, every time I go to a zone, I’ll find the nearest or easiest exploration badge so that the zone is active for my long distance teleporter.

I do something similar for red side, but I haven’t figured out the easiest way for the ouro portal there yet and I usually forget about it until I need it.

Who run Bartertown?

Yeah red side's a little trickier, but you do have a Pocket D entrance in Mercy so there's 3 exploration badges right there and combine them with the ones in Mercy you at least get the zone teleport power.

I learned early on that chemistry is just like cooking. From there I worked out that a mixture of Barium, Carbon and Nitrogen between two slices of bread gives you a delicious BaCoN sandwich

Maybe that's why Lady Gray is so livid in that cut scene in the Vanguard medical facility? 😮

Getting Ouro redside isn't tricky, just requires a little more time.  You can either hoof it to the Ferry/chopper in Mercy to Grandville and it's a no risk trip to RV.  Or go to PD and use the RV entrance there, that one's probably quicker.

I have this experience all the time.  Now granted, I haven't been playing as long as the Live folks (started on Homecoming back in 2019), but after 6 years of obsessive play, I still discover interesting layers to the game on a near monthly basis.  Just one of the many things that keeps me interested in playing.  😁

Sounds like farm sitter mentality. Why play the game when someone can just level me up?

That was not a viable option back during the live run of the game -- if you go downstairs in City Hall and enter the Tech-origin room, you'll see a red force field across the route to the elevator door to go down to the portal room to travel to Recluse's Victory; on Live, this force field was gated to only allow level-50 characters through, so you had to be 50 to get to RV. In a stunningly-stupid design decision, one of the exploration badges for Atlas Park was placed behind that force field, which meant that a character had to be 50 before they could get all the exploration badges for the starting zone.

The requirement for receiving the Ouro portal was that you had to be exposed to temporal travel; this can be done via several methods -- 1) Enter an Ouro portal to go to Ouroboros (originally gated to minimum level 15 on Live), 2) Complete Agent G's arc in Faultline (you outleveled him at 25, cutting that option off, so you had to schedule doing the arcs for Jim Temblor, Penny Yin, and Doc Delilah while not dinging 25 in the process to get his arc), 3) Travel to Cimerora from the Midnighter Mansion (originally gated to, IIRC, level 35 on Live and having the Midnighter badge, so completing Montague Castaneda's arc), or 4) Travel to Recluse's Victory (originally gated to level 50 on Live). On Homecoming, entering an Ouro portal or going to RV can both be done at level 1; the latter can be done by yourself if there's no Ouro portal lying around and you don't want to bother with the 'hassle' of logging in an alt and dropping an Ouro portal, then switching back (this didn't work on Live, as an Ouro portal would disappear if you used it or logged out the character that summoned it). But if there's no Ouro portal in the area around Ms. Liberty, there will usually be someone willing to drop one if you ask in broadcast, so that's not much of a hardship.
