Fast Travel With Ouroboros

Those of you who have played the game Fallout probably have a good idea of what I'm going to talk about.

When I first got the Ouroboros badge, my impression was "Meh...  Another badge.  A handful of experience and a longer badge list that's harder to search."  And then someone showed me how to use it.  Ever since then, it's been a progressive series of "I can do that?!" until I've finally reached the point where I have to share!

The purpose of this guide is to give advice on acquiring the badge and using it to travel like a boss.

Acquiring the badge

Honestly, for your first time in Ouro, it's best to go with someone who knows their way around.  Finding the badge can be cumbersome the first time because it's at the peak of the building you see when you first arrive.

Just the other day, I found out that you can aquire the badge at level ONE (blueside) if you're part of a supergroup and your superbase has the right portal.  Check your superbase portals for a location called "Echo: Galaxy City."  Go there.  Once there you take the local monorail straight to Ouroboros.  You'll appear on the opposite side of the SAME building that you would have arrived at if you had used the portal.  So just make your way to the peak of the building next to you and get your badge.  If you don't have a travel power (superleap, hover, fly, etc.) then you'll have to go to the opposite side of the building and run up the arch there.  If your companion has the power "Recall Friend," they can use it to get you up there and back down.

Acquiring the badge redside before level 14 is not recommended but I've done it.  Hypothetically, you can acquire it at level one.  Use a base portal to go to Echo: Dark Astoria.  If you're able to survive the trip to the monorail, you can take it to Ouroboros.

If you don't have a superbase, then you can still get to Ouroboros pretty easily if you're level 14+.  Just go see Ms. Liberty in Atlas City and type this verbatim in the Broadcast channel: "Can someone please open an Ouro portal next to Ms. Liberty?"  Because I see this message so often, I'll open a portal when I go see her whether someone asks or not.  Remember that you have to be level 14 to use the portal.

Using the portal like a boss

As I said, when I first got the badge I didn't know it could be used as a power.  And I certainly don't know the fullest extent of how to use it (I've never done any missions there.)  So this isn't a comprehensive guide for being a boss!  Lol!

Here are some observations I've made while using it:

a) the portal will close behind them when the person who created it uses it

b) travelling to Atlas City and Talos Island will drop you RIGHT NEXT to a monorail

c) Ouroboros will take you STRAIGHT to Peregrine Island

d) recharge time for the portal is 5:00

So no matter where you are, just use an Ouroboros portal to take you to Talos Island, and you have immediate access to most places in Paragon City!

The biggest problem I've had with transportation was while doing radio missions in Peregrine Island and my exp bonus expiring.  You can use the Ourobo portal to easily transport out, but you have to wait 5:00 mins to come back.  This can be resolved a number of ways:

1) One person opens a portal and anyone needing to get exp bonus can go to Atlas and get them (I say "Atlas" because nearly everyone knows where the P2W agent is in Atlas)

2) Another person opens a portal in Atlas and everyone returns

If you're travelling by yourself, it can still be done a little differently:

1) Open a portal and travel to Atlas

2) As soon as you arrive, type this verbatim in the Broadcast channel: "Can someone please open an Ouro portal next to Ms. Liberty?"

3) Get your exp bonus and go see Ms. Liberty where you're very likely to find the portal waiting for you

That's all I have for now.  This should give you a solid start on using your Ouroboros portal like a boss!

Superbase passcode (Excelsior) is "passcode-6475"

It's all a Nemesis plot.  But not everything is a Nemesis plot!

Good short guide for beginners. It's also great for new players that don't want/need to deal with having a Supergroup Base setup with teleporters. Honestly, I use it all the time for fast travel whenever I my Mission Teleporter is on cooldown and I don't want to find a Base Portal or are in one of the rare zones where there isn't one.

I'm out.

Heh!  One minor correction:

"You can use the Ourobo portal to easily transport out (of Peregrine Island,) but you have to wait 4:30 mins to come back."

You can actually travel back to Peregrine Island by the "old fashioned" way of using the monorail to Talos Island, etc.  You don't HAVE to wait to use the Ouro portal!

Great guide...I echo @The Philotic Knight.  The part about it being right next to the Monorail for Talos is spot on, because that's also where the base portal for talos is as well...Huge Time Saver

But... but that would require walking. I'm not sure I'm ready for that level of commitment. The Pay2Win vendor sells the Mission Transporter for 1M influence, which is a *much* safer way to get back to your mission without the risk of straining your unused leg muscles. 🙂 Edited by nihilii

Why not just use the Tunnel?  It goes directly to and from Peregrine and is right next to the tram in Atlas, Talos, and Founders.

You're right!  I just found out about this today, in fact!  Lol!

It’s kind of baffling that terrible zones like Croatoa and Kallisti Wharf (with nothing in it) are on the train, and PI is not (and it’s kind of the hub of leveling in your 40s).

Yea, the tunnel is doable from some zones, but not many.

It's my belief, which may of course be wrong, that the original Devs wanted to "gate" this zone so that lowbies never ended up in over their heads "by accident". That's also why I think there's the two different tram lines, to separate out higher level content from lower level content, to split the game in half, so to speak. Also, if I recall correctly (again, I could be wrong), the original level cap was 40, and Peregrine Island wasn't added until the cap was raised to 50.

I would also like to add a thought.

You can use the FLash Back missions as TPers to any zone that has a mission contact.

Hear there is an impromptu dance party in the heart of the hollows?  Talk to Flux the Troll, accept his mission, click the big crystal and done.

Dont forget to quit the TF when you arrive though. Countless times I have finished what I was doing, headed to PI to take on some Possesed Scientists thinking I was all that. As it turns out because you are still lvl 34 you really aren't "all that."

😔

I'm not sure if you can get everywhere but it's another option. Went looking for a quick way to Cim last night but didn't see one. I was also in a hurry so I may have missed it.

Happy hunting.

Just looked again and you can get to Cim. Lvl 50 Stolen Power

There is an even quicker way to get there. Just open the LFG tab, pick ITF, select "Lock the event for your group" and hit queue. The LFG tab lets you to travel to any zone that has a TF/Trial contact in one loading.

From a thread in Suggestions I saw the following:

/macro SG enterbasefrompasscode <basepasscodehere>

Just put your base code in there and you have a button that's a free teleport to your base from anywhere.

/sg_passcode <prefix>
Like, in one of my cases, "/sg_passcode pon". The "system" chat channel will tell you what it turned it into (meaning, roughly, what ID number it appended).

Anyone on Torchbearer that does not want to deal with setting up a base of their own are welcome to use the Torchbearer Community base.  You can create a macro for it that will put a button into an empty slot on your power tray by typing this into the chat;

/macro TBCB enterbasefrompasscode TORCHCS-5949

Works from any location.  No need to buy a teleport to base power from the P2W vendor.

Enjoy!
