Holy hell that’s boldly dishonest and intentionally misleading framing2 points

How do I put this... One character having done those things can certainly give you a fair idea of what's available in game. But the same way a sibling experiences your family differently from you, so would a different AT experience the game differently than another. Even the same AT with a different powerset is going to approach the same tasks with a slightly different mindset and strategy. Or maybe that's just me. I would suggest when one character hits 50 t-4 in all, try one that's fairly opposite, like a tanker instead of a blaster. An MM instead of a scrapper. The more alts you play, the better teammate you're likely to be, as you'll understand your teammates' pain points. (a squishy getting stunned, a tank losing endurance to a sapper - and maybe your alt can be the one to change the outcome) The game has a lot of stuff to do. But the goal isn't to go through every single thing with one character just to get through it. The goal is to enjoy the ride. That said, I am someone who is a bit nuts and can easily find myself trying to rush through things just to get them done for an accolade. So, it's hardly fair for me to say it. But, that doesn't make it any less true. If you're not having any fun or interest in it, you're losing. At least, that's my opinion. Unless you know some of us are getting paid to play, I'd say we're all amateurs. There are certainly some folks who spend most of their time in AE and aren't very knowledgeable about the game outside of it. But there are also players that look at AE as a giant puzzle to solve, and they can make it a different puzzle whenever they've solved the first one. Try not to paint the whole population of AE with the same brush.2 points

And they're not deleted, just hidden for the GMs to look at in horror.1 point

Right now, Changeling play-style makes Kheldians do crazy damage because it cancels animation time — basically an exploit. Without it, they’re weaker than every other AT, which is probably why they’re the least played archetype in CoH. Their current Inherent bonus does basically nothing when soloing and often underwhelms in groups unless you happen to have just the right mix of ATs. A few ideas to make them competitive without relying on exploits: Damage boosts – Each form could get slightly higher base damage or scaling so they actually hit like they’re supposed to. Nova could be treated more like a pseudo-blaster, and Dwarf could remain the Tank/Brute melee form. Animation tweaks – Form swaps could also be smoother, since switching forms right now feels clunky and slows down combat when not running the changeling animation cancelling binds. Inherent – Make the Inherent bonus actually matter solo and give it some meaningful impact in, rewarding form swaps or combos. For example, swapping out of Nova could grant a short damage boost, or swapping from Dwarf could provide brief mez protection. Final note: whether Changeling is patched or not, form changing shouldn’t be a huge explosion every time — it’s jarring and unnecessary every swap. Overall, Kheldians should feel flexible and fun, not just weak because they’re a jack-of-all-trades.1 point

Removing changeling with no massive buffs to compensate would put them at "worse than Sents" territory. I agree with the sentiment of removing form specific powers and buff the base kit to compensate with Nova and Dwarf having juiced scalers to make up for only being able to use the ranged and Melee attacks respectively. Maybe even a scaling buff that improves Nova and Dwarf damage the longer they camp the form.1 point

Now Lauci you know this is the forums. Our friend arcane here simply wanted to argue his feelings and you go here and give him empircal data. What're you thinking?! Debate him by calling him a sponge, or some such. But seriously these are interesting to see. And very alarming tbh. Khelds even with changeling are in dire need of assistance as has been discussed to death. Removing this band aid would indeed put them into irredeemably bad territory imo1 point

Yep you haven't really done it "all" playing just one character. Running an Empath solo and teamed are very different leveling experiences. Then switching to a Dark/Dark defender is different as well and very different from running a blaster etc., etc. There's Hardmode versions of some of the TFs, leveled on SOs only, solo'd AVs ...1 point

Heya 💛 Just to clear some things up that Kheldians aren't the least played AT atm, that belongs to the VEATs, they are also not overpowered using changeling (Current best PB Pylon time is 15.10 DPS per key press. For comparison Scrapper is 78.807 DPS per key press), however they are also not rubbish without the changeling binds. Important: They will remove Changeling and no changes should be made until Changeling is removed Regarding Damage they could go up to 400% cap and a few changes to the recharge time of powers to increase their base damage. Regarding Animation tweaks honestly all they need to do is make it so when you click a power, you transform into the correct form and fire it off without needing binds/macros. Also adding a "No FX" option to stop the blinding explosion if people want. Regarding the inherent I used to think the same but it does come in usefulness at times, and sadly the game isn't made for solo play so in my personal opinion things shouldn't be changed for that. Outside of that, I would like the ability to use power pools in the forms (Within reason, no Boxing Squids etc), the bonuses of the forms to linger after switching out of the form (So for 5-10 seconds you still have the damage boost of squid, or defence of Dwarf) to allow more flow between forms, finally a min FX of the forms where instead of full switching into the dwarf/nova model, it appears over you for a moment before fading so people who don't like the looks of the forms can stay in their base costume. These are just my opinions, who knows what the devs have planned if anything 😄1 point

The hamburgler guy is @rtypeninja The new addition is SPECTACULAR! The optical illusions are amazing, but also just how well design it is--like the hallway where reality is falling apart and stuff is just floating, its brilliant!1 point

Work out a deal with NCSoft so Homecoming can charge for subscriptions and get a percentage of profit. Pay the devs working on the game currently and see they can all work f/t if they choose. Create new marketing assets to start advertising again. Offer a $10/mo subscription or $15/mo with extras. While also having a free option. As profit comes in save some to add to budget to let devs create and build a new expansion/update for the game. Within 2 years we can have over a million subscribers, a full-time development team, ongoing marketing and advertisements, and more! That is the reality I want. Now is the time. DCUO and Champions Online are the only competition. We can make a HUGE comeback. However, I am very happy with all the devs are able to do now with issues coming out and everything they have done for the game and all of us! I just hope we can do something so they can be paid for their efforts and we can all come together to make CoH Homecoming the #1 MMORPG in the world!1 point

There is no issue, with wanting to create as many alts to experience the different power sets, that is the positive side of it; but when I am forming a TINPEX and the player is sending me tells how to get to RWZ and they are level 50! Now Houston control we have a problem... I will admit it is not frequent, but it is more often than it should. I had level 50 players asking me how to get to Oro and one had no idea where red zones were and how to get there, the list goes on... The use of power level activities, is fine, if the end purpose is legitimate and as an a truly experienced player bringing a new concept to the top and meant to be played as opposed to be another unread book in the library... When these activities (events/MSRs) are pushing for the 40 players, and maybe the server has all 50 to 55 players on line, the event pretty much zapped the population available to form TF/SFs, maybe Rudra you don't form TFs habitually, but participate on them if someone else goes through the trouble and had not experienced the recruiting effect directly. I do consistently form TF and SFs and when MSRs and events kick in, what would have been a 5 to 10 min recruiting effort for a TF/SF now becomes a 15 to 25 min enterprise! This is more of an observation, than a complaint proper.1 point

Kill the game? Interesting, I didn't know it was dead. The player population seems to be consistent and I think the population numbers have been similar for the last 5 years (since I found HC). So, maybe a bit too much drama here, OP. Events are always nice. They add some change to the usual. Most of the content is 13+ years old. HC is doing a great job here and keeping the game in a great state. However, I hate to say it but I am not enjoying the HC content. I don't like the design and style of most of the new content; it seems my friends that play would agree. But I digress. I also think it's fine if the event is on for a bit longer than a week or two. I don't have time or don't want to play a ton of CoX. I have a variety of toons that didn't have these badges and they all got a bit of a run. That wouldn't have happened if it was a 2 week event. I can see the argument for making it shorter but I think the happy compromise might be 3 weeks? That made me think of the summer blockbuster event. That event definitely should be reduced. I'd suggest May-Sept. So, no, events did not ruin the game. They add a nice little change to the usual. I hope they add more events. As for the content, most of us have played it and don't need to keep playing it with every toon in the same way.1 point

And just to point out, Council & 5th Column are straight up fascist groups in game history. So, the OP using the label for them is accurate.1 point

No. You should probably go read more about fascism from a reputable source if you do not understand what fascism is. I could outline the various characteristics of fascism, but that's not really what this forum is for and would likely result in moderator activity.1 point

The return of @Diantane. Many of their followers waited with baited breath for the wise words of their leader. Why play anything in this game without their blessing? Doing so would be foolish and a waste of time. Unless fun is defined by @Diantane, none can be had.1 point

I would only consider it an exploit if the npcs I was fighting used it against me! Intellectually, I can see the issue, why it shouldn't be allowed/possible. But, from where I sit, If players 1-8 (khelds) can clobber something super fast - big deal. They killed something in 8 seconds that might have taken my team of "standard" players 14 seconds. Sure, that adds up. But no matter which way the butter is sliced, it's still going to take my standard team 14 seconds. I will cede the point that if someone doesn't want to do the quick change stuff (and I wouldn't blame them) and they do want to play a kheld, they may see themselves in a rough place. Can't do anything great, but can do a number of things competently. On the surface, I have no issue with the OP's suggestion. But the word exploit means to use, to take advantage. To me, it's clever. More power to them. It doesn't impact my game at all. The only players it might impact are the khelds that don't use the macros for whatever reason. Those players may feel, as the OP does, that the AT could use some love. And maybe that's true. Or maybe that love came in the form of these macros. I've no idea. So, while I feel bad for the other players that aren't enjoying the khelds as is, I'm in the same boat. I just play something else that's more fun for me.1 point

Honestly, I would be happy as a clam if a version of Luminous/Umbral blasts, and Luminous/Umbral aura (minus all shapeshifting) were made available to Sentinels. That's really what I want out of a Humanform Peacebringer anyway. A Sentinel, with a pair of powersets that I think look awesome. I was never all that taken with the shapeshifting anyway.1 point

Changeling play requires using exploits in the way the game's animation system functions to ignore the standard damage formulas and animation times that the game is based around in order to maximize your damage potential. It's not "Playing an instrument well". It's sneakily replacing every piece on your side of the chessboard except your King with a Queen and crowing about your ELO of 2800. You are fundamentally breaking the rules of the game system for an advantage.1 point

Some call this changeling thing an exploit. I would call it a feature.1 point

Here's another character by @MysteryMouse, finished today. Leylah, a vampire blood-magus of clan Tremere, who diablerized her sire and used ancient magics to be able to walk in daylight. A continued unlife in Vienna is a bit too risky, though, so she's sought refuge in the Rogue Isles. (Yes, one of the great things about CoH is how easy it is to accomodate your own stories, even if you want to mix in elements from other soures! 😄 ) She's a Water Blast / Poison Corruptor, but of course I've colored all the fluids red, to illustrate how she's tossing the blood around. 🙂 In-game, I have to make do with her looking like this:1 point
