  1. It's pretty arcane, and I'm not sure of it, but this link will take you to an overview. Essentially, it's supposed to work like this - all threat is from damage. Taunt abilities generate pseudo damage, and apply a threat multiplier to damage done by the taunter for the duration. The link shows multipliers for attack types and AT modifiers for damage done after *that character* uses a taunt ability. I've read that various enemies are scripted to flee at set health levels, and that debuffs and mob chance to hit can also play a role in when they run. Obviously, threat level can overcome this scripting, though you need a taunt ability to reach the necessary levels for more than a mob or two. Some abilities, like Burn from the fire secondary, also have a fear component that will make mobs flee regardless of health levels.
  2. As Lex Talion pointed out above, they were discussing "old school" secondaries, but there are lots that don't get one. Damage auras aren't the same as taunt for the same reason regular damage doesn't keep a mob from fleeing. Scrapper secondaries without a taunt aura include Dark, Elec, Energy, Fire, Ice, Nin, Regen, and SR
  3. Me too! It would be such a huge quality of life improvement for the scrapper AT (though they're pretty awesome as is, so I understand if resources were spent elsewhere).
  4. If you're not worried about taunt auras in your secondary, it would be hard to beat MA/SR for old school scrappers. Claws has a faster attack sequence that is pretty fun, but those MA attacks hit like a truck. Katana/Regen (or SR or INV) was pretty popular too. For "run through and AOE everything" teaming, nothing wrong with your Spines/Regen choice.
  5. You could just sub in build up and it would be fine.
  6. I don't care for it either, but it is hands down the most effective single target melee damage set in the game. If you mean "outshined by faster sets" in a purely AOE sense, I can agree that Mace seems faster. My problem with it is that TW looks stupid. That's a subjective criticism, and you may feel differently, but I had to steal the IOs out of mine for a toon I enjoyed more. The weapons are goofy looking at that size, and the animations are really bad.
  7. I started one because of this thread, and I'm having a lot of fun too. Easily my favorite blaster so far.
  8. I understand the appeal - when perma-Elude was a thing on live, it was a really fun playstyle. I'll have to go with Bill on this one though, in it's current state, it's a waste of power picks and slots.
  9. Thanks, now I have three more scrappers to build :-). I agree with basically everything you said about Ninjitsu. I love my MA/Nin scrapper.
  10. I should mention that I'm frustrated with every Scrapper secondary at the moment except Bio and Rad because they lack a taunt aura, so there is a caveat there, I guess.
  11. Right there with you. Regarding the OP's question, I keep coming back to Scrappers after trying everything else. I love Stalkers, but the AOE and durability aren't quite there for me. I love Brutes and Tanks, but the kill speed seems slow after a Scrapper. I was a Scrapper main on live, and I guess I still am (though I can't stop rolling alts of all ATs).
  12. OK, great. I'm working on a rad/rad stalker at the moment and had planned to. I didn't know if there was some mechanical reason not to. It seems with both being PBAOE, if you had to pick one, Ground Zero would be a better choice because of the higher number of targets than Radiation Therapy.
  13. @CroaxJust so I understand, why wouldn't you proc out Ground Zero?
  14. This is for a brute, but should work more or less the same. This guy can do the S/L comic con map at +4/8 (takes awhile with limited AOE, but he can hang in there while he slowly beats them to death). Layered defenses (resist, def, and healing) make for a surprisingly resilient toon. 15. Thanks for posting your build. I've been playing around with a build that focuses more on resists, with supplemental defense and recharge. Any thoughts on this? Would it be better to just go for the defense and not worry about resists as much, since I'll be running offensive adaptation? 16. This sounds very cool, but when I downloaded the files Norton went crazy. It didn't like any of it, and discarded the download, plus a file that got saved into a temp directory. Anyone else see something like this?
  17. My favorite from live was the Ohmwrecker, an Elec/Elec brute, but someone had taken it here. Eightbrawl is another - black costume, white circle on chest with an 8. My first tanker on live, an Inv/Axe, was named Bad Axe.
  18. Interesting. I'm playing fullscreen too. Playing windowed lets me avoid the problem by not having to tab out, but I prefer fullscreen. Maybe this Razer Naga mouse is messing with things somehow?
  19. When I command-tab out of the CoH app on my Mac, it works fine. When I come back to the application, the mouse doesn't show up exactly where it's really pointing anymore. I have to scroll high and right to click dialogue buttons or login options, for example. Does anyone know how to fix this?
  20. I just got Pine's running on my Mac with your installer and wanted to say thanks. Sorry for your troubles with the shooting :-(. I had to right click the installer and "show package contents", then run it from there. I ran it twice because the first time it didn't proceed on to installing Pine's after installing Homebrew, but running it a second time fixed that right up.
  21. I received a kind offer from a community member to cover my losses, so I thought I'd post and say I can farm more influence, I was just poor momentarily from buying sets. CoH players were always awesome that way though. 🙂
  22. I bought a Titanium Coating today for 25,600,000. Was changing 2,500,000 to 2,600,000 for a bid and didn't check my numbers. Ouch. I only had 33 million total.
  23. Is this correct? I don't have Mids (on a Mac), but the tooltip for the power says those defense buffs are unaffected by enhancements.
  24. Could I trouble you for a version that focuses on recharge with as much resist as feasible? I'm on a Mac with no Pines. Purples/expensive stuff is fine. As a follow up, do you guys think def softcap is worth it without good DDR on /bio?
  25. Looks like there's a thread on this already. Shoulda looked before I leapt!
