  1. Suggestion: Each costume mission completed gives a badge. Why: Quick visual reference on which ones you've done/still need to do. Also, what badger would turn down more badges? Needed? Not at all. And yes, it doesn't take that long to run around and talk to all the tailors. But, hey. More badges. *shrug* Initial suggestions for the badge names: Tsoo fashionable / Pinstripe Punisher Tres' Crey / Fashion Freak Marching Bland / (Eh, was thinking "clown shoes" but meh...)
  2. Eh, probably from past experiences from mentioning Homecoming on Reddit. Honestly, other subforums there are - well, hit and miss, but from my experiences on anything dealing with COH on Reddit, I can see why people would be - hmm. Hesitant? Gunshy? Not really gushing? regardless of what the person who created it / mods it intends.
  3. Eh, I've seen them standing in trios in Crey's on their own before... not infrequently, come to think of it.
  4. I expect the usual trolls and hate-filled individuals that aren't even on HC to infest that too. I pretty much avoid Reddit's COH stuff because of them.
  5. And some interesting bits liek the original plans for Faultline as a trial zone...
  6. I think they've said sort of the same thing that's been said about COH rather often. COH (despite inventions and incarnates) is not a "gear" game, and it's not a "grind" game. Attempts to add that on (see: Incarnates) have felt out of place. You're not "ShinyPaladin#09871208" because... you're not. You create your look and backstory and it's *yours.* I played since issue 3 to shutdown, and I can only distinctly remember *one* time someone had come up with the same (or close to the same) costume as me. My characters were (and are) *mine,* bio and look and personality, not a set of stats to hang the gear I *need* to get through the next few levels (and discard afterward for the next shiny... which probably WILL involve grinding killing 50 mutantdemonbats for bat nostrils for crafting ingredients blah blah blah.) Plus, it grew "out" instead of "up," partly because you could add stories at all levels versus having to tack on ever-more-powerful gear that needed yet another higher level cap - which required adding more grind to keep people subscribed so they could get onto a raid that you'd be rejected if you weren't the right class with the right gear for, etc, etc, etc. COH was created by a bunch of people who ... really didn't know what they were doing, and made a bunch of happy mistakes that made a really one of a kind game (and community.)
  7. Here's one. I found (a) my Command and Conquer: Generals CDs *and* (b) patches that would let it work widescreen in Windows 11. I've binged the Chinese and GLA campaigns, one day for each. Runs rather nicely, though the controls feel wonky after all these years of playing other things. Having found som eother CDs, I might see if I can get Mechwarrior 3 or 4 running... think one of those disks was Mechcommander, or MC2. (If I want to get really crazy, might try Subwar 2050, which I kind of wish someone would modernize. Think that'll need DOSBox, though.)
  8. Darn, wish I'd seen this earlier. Though I'm not sure the one(s) I have in mind would fit your needs...
  9. if you could add one little tidbit, easter egg, something small into the game? Just because I do this to see who's paying attention either on team or among friends of mine who might be on - Flux's ...s econd? mission, where you save police officers from trolls. The opening popup says "You hear the rattle of heavy weaponry and the shouts of desperate men." Just randomly - say, a 1 in 20 time to see who's paying attention - I'd change the wording a bit to "you hear the rattle of desperate weaponry and the shouts of heavy men." JUST to see who notices...
  10. No. You want a travel "power" without locking into a pool? The Athletic/Ninja/Beast runs are free. Jetpacks are cheap. There, travel with no power pool, and either no further investment or a very rare need to purchase more time (which on the basic jetpack is cheap.) We don't need more "give me everything with no need to actually have to make decisions or tradeoffs." Having to actually *make choices with consequences* isn't a bad thing.
  11. Ooh. Did forget one unique (as in, I don't believe it's available to another AT) pairing - Sentinel Dp/Nin/Nin. About the only way I know of to get both pistols and a sword. (Which just *fits* one character perfectly.)
  12. Honestly, I don't. It's purely tied to "what fits the character." (Or "what fits the project.") i've done stuff in the past like flipping FOTM combos, or doing them on different ATs (for instance, I think it was energy/electric blasters at one point, so I built electric/energy. Or if Fire/Kins were getting talked about, a fire armor/kinetic melee tank would be made.) But in reality... yeah, if you see something on my account with high time on it, it's probably because it's a character I'm RPing a lot, not from being a favored powerset combo. Granted, I like my Khelds, and I find Sentinels fun once endurance usage gets sorted, but I still roll sets based on character.
  13. Well, from someone who joins those teams, (whether with you or not, I don't know, and it's irrelevant really,) "Fun" isn't dealing with the GMs. It's 100% how interacting with the other players is. I'm *joining* for the bunch of merits and because I'm not doing anything else for the next little while. I'm 100% there for the easy merits in maybe half an hour. How "fun" it is changes from group to group. 99% of the time, it's solidly in the middle - "Didn't suck, wasn't memorable." But that's me. I'm not going to tell you you're not actually having fun (or that you are.)
  14. Er... no. Mids is a "nice to have" for some people. Nowhere near vital. I'd consider Vidiotmaps not working (if it didn't) to be a much bigger issue than Mids - and would consider that an "Oh, well, a nice utility is having issues."
  15. ... wow, some people see GMs *much* differently than I do...
  16. Pfft. Farmer makes farm. File's saved on the local drive. They publish the farm. Farm away on it. Unpublish when done. Rinse, repeat any time they log in to do some farming. Not really tedious, hitting "publish" takes all of a few seconds. Edit: And the "popular" farms will be the ones with that file shared around so any farmer that wants it has their own copy to run at will. End result - no INF lost on the farms, AE arc numbers rocketing (new number every time one's published,) and non farm/story arcs launguishing.
  17. If that were the *only* way to get those items, maybe. But "rare" items are still easily obtainable, generally. I can completely ignore the AH and pick up full sets of purples, if I so choose. I have characters with plenty of merits they're just sitting on, obtained just by playing the game. I could probably convert those to quite a bit of cash as well if I wanted to. *shrug*
  18. Have to say absolutely not to anything triggering invasions/GMs, and an AE or Invention tax isn't needed. Conversion... as long as *converters* aren't removed by it, maybe. Then again, converters are already "it costs cash" if you buy them from the AH, or (indirectly) through superpacks, so... Honestly, "So and so has a bunch of money" - I don't care, as long as they aren't dickish about it.
  19. I'll admit, though, I'm now curious to see if anyone has an old copy of Herostats and if it works currently...
  20. All these. The OP's reaching professional politician levels of question dodging. The quote isn't "if you can dodge a question, you can dodge a ball." If their issue is with farming? Again, don't farm. If the issue's with something else? How about some explanation instead of insisting on causing the rest of the playerbase issues?
  21. 100% this. If You, OP, have something against AE farms... don't farm in AE. Problem solved.
  22. "Most damage" doesn't mean best/most useful. How about the low-damage support that's buffing those people to hit those numbers and keep everyone alive, for starters? Just no. We don't need "damage ranking" or anything like that sparking arguments.
  23. No. It's already a very nice buff on its own... and then you have to look at *everything else the set does.* It needs to be buffed like water needs to be more wet.
  24. It *really* depends - AT, powerset, etc. - if the benefit's immediately obvious or not. For instance, if you're a blaster, you're probably set for everything and may never use them. *Maybe* ssomething for RP or if you take that into PVP or something, but generally, you make things be dead that weren't before. That'll pretty much be true for all the melee ATs, Dominators, probably Masterminds as well. You might use it as a sort of respec if something big comes along but you don't *really* want to completely undo your old build. Many support sets seem fine with a single build as well. However, once you get into, say, Empathy, Pain Dom, or anything kind of heavy on team buffs, having a solo and team build can be *really* handy. For instance, an Emp/* Defender trying to solo things doesn't really need the rez, clear mind, heal other, absorb pain or fortitude. They can use those for, say, a self stealth, leadership for a little extra boost or other powers they may not otherwise fit into a team build (or sacrifice offensive powers to fit in.) And, yeah, as mentioned, Khelds can have human-only and multiform builds, or lean more towards a certain bit of specialization.
  25. Vidiotmaps, certainly. I've played with some other mods - tweaking glowie sounds, returning PB sounds to what they were, etc. but they're mostly take it or leave it. Vidiotmaps, though, is the only thing I make *sure* I have. Also, I think the xp/inf gain thing you're thinking of might have been Herostats. Mids... I rarely if ever use. I don't think I even have it installed anywhere at the moment. But I don't care about min-maxing, perma'ing, etc. Of course, there was also Sentinel Plus back in the day... But yeah. Pretty much the only "must" is Vidiotmaps.
