  1. Yeah, I figured that was what you wanted. It would be SO cool if we had that. The Trenchcoat is the only thing that will give that flowing feel. Although, I think it's the Tech Knight belt that has a flowing cape to it (one belt like that does), that might give a little of the "following" feel.
  2. Yeah, Fire armor is not the greatest as people make it out to be. It's doable, but it requires the Fighting pool, heavy set bonuses, and lots of recharge in the heal. And for scrappers, you're still squishie. No one has mentioned Dark Armor yet. It is one of my favorite sets... Early game it is end heavy and you have to manage your toggles - if you're not fighting a mob that does Fire/Cold damage, then turn off your Fire/Cold Resist toggle. Same with your En/Neg toggle. Toggle them on/off as needed until you have end managed with IOs. (If you are running Dark Melee as primary, you'll get Dark Consumption which can alleviate your end problems early on.) The Heal need to be slotted for some ACC and lots of Rech over heals. It can cost a lot of End as well, but adding in the Theft of Essence +End proc negates and/or gives you a bonus of end upon most uses. Cloak of Fear - it's a cool power, but it takes HEAVY slotting to be on par. It has a lower base Acc (60%) so requires extra Acc. It is a VERY heavy toggle with End use and needs extra End redux. And the Fear is only mag 2, so you only get minions. It's not worth the slotting or use, imo - I skip this power 99% of the time. Oppressive Gloom - is far better than Cloak of Fear in that the toggle costs practically nothing to run. It is mag 2 stun, so only minions as well, but given the extremely low end cost, and normal base ACC (75%), it's doesn't need a lot of slots, if any. An Acc/Mez HO is just fine and you take minions out of the fight. It does damage YOU a couple hps per tic per minion, but it is negligible and your normal regen will counter it unless you're in a huge mob - but then you also have the strongest self heal in the game!
  3. The Trenchcoat with tattered tails and tattered short sleeves might work? They give a little bit of that "flowing" feel. Not like I am sure you want, but perhaps close enough? Anyway, this looks good!
  4. You do not have to capped or even near capped in defense to be survivable. As @SeraphimKensai stated, we were all defenseless for years and survived quite well by kiting, moving, and repositioning ourselves during the fight. Leading your aggro to the Tank, Brute, or even Scrapper (even they sometimes have aggro auras) to pull mobs off you. Run towards your healers - not away (like I see SO many blasters do as they faceplant). Use inspirations! SO many forget about these. Use your controls! Switch targets as needed: to control pesky foes while you burn the trash / burn the trash with AoEs while you focus on the pesky LTs, Bosses, EBs, AVs. My main / namesake is an Ice/Fire/Fire blaster - and I play him aggressively in melee range and rarely die. I play incarnate trials, HMs, and increased difficulty TFs/SFs. Until recent changes, I always ran Clarion to keep Hot Feet from detoggling. I have a PvE build, but use it to farm +4x8 when I'm desperate for purple drops or money for an alt. People have asked me for my build and are shocked when they learn my stats (posted below). It just goes to show, you don't HAVE to have capped def/resist to survive. If I do die, it's usually because I forget to take an inspire or 3. But I have a lot of control with these powersets (3 holds, Bonfire to KD, Blizzard to KD, Ice Storm to make them slowly try to run (+ a KD proc), and Hot Feet to add to their slow scatter). Most people skip the control powers in their sets (and I have on some builds too), but they add to a blaster's survivability if used properly. Another tip/trick for blasters that not many use or realize.... Max HPs + the Preventative Medicine +Absorb Proc: The proc is great and can be a life saver. ALL blasters (and squishies) should have it. Most know this. However... I build most of my blasters at or near the HP cap (1847 HPs). Most people are around 1400-1500 tops. That extra 300-450 HPs generally means you can take a couple more hits before falling and it gives more time for the Preventative Med proc to grant you "bonus" absorb HPs so you DON'T drop. This is just something else that usually lets me survive fights while all other squishies (and sometimes scrappers and brutes) are searching the ground for that "contact lens they dropped." 🙂 Frozen Burn's stats... But @Snarky, I am glad you are finding your rhythm with and are enjoying that blaster. Blasters are my favorite AT and I like all the different combos. Some combos lean towards staying at range while other are just screaming to be in the middle and in the thick of things. I let the powers tell me how to play it. And some need to bounce between the two - which sounds like that's where you are with yours. I see a lot of players have builds that they could devastate if they were in melee range, but they are too timid to be near foes and stay at range - and they do half or less of the DPS that they could be doing. It's sad. So glad you recognize when to go in and when to get out. Just continue playing it and don't worry about "OMG I'm only at 40% def and not at cap!" You'll be fine. Just keep using the tools at your disposal and your positioning/movement.
  5. I would lean towards AR over Sonic since 1 of Sonic's cones is a sleep. AR's 3 cones are all damage cones. Secondaries: (Ninja sort of has 2, others have 1) /Ninja Training: Blinding Powder (sleep/confuse cone) and Golden Dragonfly (is sort of a cone in that you can get 2 or 3 foes if they are practically right behind one another). /Dark Manipulation: Shadow Maul (melee cone) /Ice Manipulation: Shiver (-spd, -rech) /Martial Combat: Throw Sand (stun, -percept) /Mental Manipulation: Psychic Scream /Plant Manipulation: Ripper (melee cone) /Sonic Manipulation: Sound Cannon (stun, KB) For Epics: Leviathan Mastery has 2 cones: School of Sharks (immob) and Bile Spray (toxic DoT). Soul Mastery also has 2 cones: Night Fall (Neg DoT) and Soul Tentacles (immob) Pools: Fighting (Cross Punch) Force of Will (Wall of Force)
  6. The Rikti in the RWZ arcs do fight each other - if you read the story content, it's all about 2 different factions of Rikti and they are at war with each other and we (players, Vanguard, Longbow, etc) are caught up in it all. So there will be times when you see the Rikti fighting themselves. As for the potential "invisible hitbox" at ambush spawn points that create a "wall" - I'm not sure what that might be. I haven't noticed this in any of Levantera's (or other RWZ contacts') missions. As from creating missions in AE with ambushes, I am fairly confident that there are no "hitbox place holders" for ambushes. In AE, they just spawn from a random preset mob spawn point. BUT, we know the Devs have more capability than what they give us in AE however, I am fairly confident that just use a flat 2D coordinate point to indicate the ambush spawn point when the trigger is activated. So, whatever "wall" you are encountering, may be something entirely different. A lag spike? A graphics card issue?
  7. For me, it's the character concept: their backstory, costume, name, and powersets - if it all jives, then I will certainly enjoy playing it. Even if the powersets don't fit perfectly, I'll still enjoy - I like characters that have flaws, a weakness to overcome, and such - it just adds to their depth and creates a better challenge for gameplay. So it's a "win-win" even if I choose poor combos, as long as the concept engages me. The only difference is my Main / namesake: Frozen Burn. He's an Ice/Fire/Fire Blaster and the first toon I made back on live in 2004. I had a backstory early on and it sucked so i deleted it. The costumes were "meh" at best (still are). The name "Frozen Burn" - I always hated it (still do), but I'm not good at naming things - and NO, I purposely did NOT want "Freezer Burn." But I had a new game and it was already taking me hours to create my very first toon and I needed to get in game to join my friends who also just purchased it. Turns out, that Ice/Fire blasting is just WAY too fun, survivable (even back on live at the beginning of the game before Blasters got buffed), and I just for some strange reason love to play this toon. So, I guess that's why when I do have moments of brilliance where a toon's concept (name, costume, powersets, and backstory) jives - they quickly become a favorite "go to" over the others.
  8. Yes, there will most likely be something that awards extra Aethers for the Winter Event, but I am also guessing they will release some extra costumes that people might want - so the supply/demand will cancel each other out and the market will plateau for that time, as I've suggested. But if no new costume items come out and they give us opportunity to receive more Aethers from the event, then that will only cause the market to drop on them even faster.
  9. Prices for Aethers were never going to go up from the Halloween event. Supply from ToTing was able to keep up (and go over) the demand for the new costume items released. There are many who still don't care about the costume items - even the newer stuff - and they sold their ToT'ing Aethers, which is why the market went down to 4M from the 7M each they were at the beginning of the event. I am surprised it's hovering at 4M and not lower. (Although, I have not checked since your post 5 hrs ago and prior to me typing this.) The market for Aethers for will still continue to drop as those who wanted the new higher priced items mostly have them now and people continue to earn them from running content and putting them up on the market. The few who still need them will get their own by running content and buying, but they are far less in numbers than those who sell - so it'll be a buyer's market. I suspect the Devs may put in a few new costume items for the Christmas Holiday Event, which may cause the price of Aethers to level out a bit, but i suspect by springtime (or sooner) Aethers will be 1M or less each.
  10. Well, after working through the issue with the Support team, there is NO way to unlink a game account from your forum account. So, the only way to resolve this is creating a new forum account and be sure to NOT mistype your game account name again when linking it. 😄
  11. Okay, it took me a minute to figure out what in the world you're talking about, but I THINK I've got it. 😄 So.... Are you suggesting / asking for a way to increase the radius of Targeted AOEs? As you alluded to, Range enhancements in a cone makes it wider at the end and thusly allows a player to potentially get more in it (if not already at the cone's target cap). But with a targeted AOE (like Fireball or Explosive Blast) that goes 80 ft and then explodes in a "ball" with a 15ft radius, a range enhancement ONLY increases the 80 ft to 100 ft and leaves the radius still at 15ft - and there is still no way to get more nearby foes with it (like a cone), if not at the power's target cap already, of course. ...is this what you mean and are suggesting to change? Having Range enhancements increase the radius of the "Ball" as well as the distance it goes? ....if so, I agree and think that would be worthwhile and fair. i think Range Enhancement in a cone should widen the angle a little bit too. Not many people slot for range and only get a little bit from sets like Posi's Blast (or with Sniper sets for their sniper powers). Plus, with cones and targeted AOEs having target caps, all this would do is help ensure we get to the target cap of the power - I do not think that is game breaking and certainly would be useful.
  12. Hi. I appreciate the help but you've completely missed the mark and this is not the issue at all. 1. I know how to log out of the forums. 🙂 2. I do not have multiple Forum accounts - just this 1. So there is no "old" account to switch to. 3. The issue is, when I tried to link my GAME account to my forum account (by clicking "Account" tab and selecting "Game Account"), it did not prompt me to enter my existing account details, but rather "Create a New Account" and unfortunately, I misspelled my account name and it created a NEW GAME ACCOUNT and thusly linked it to my forum account. 4. So far, there seems to be NO way to log out of the GAME ACCOUNT once it has been linked to the forum account. 5. And yes, I know that any account will get me onto Beta, but if you want to transfer existing characters to the Beta server (like what I want to do), you have to use the specific account that holds the character(s) that you want to transfer - so just using any account (even a new one) won't do. 6. I am still communicating with Support on this issue of having wrong GAME ACCOUNT linked to my forum account. Hopefully, they can find a solution.
  13. I'm not really following why it's taking you an obscene amount of clicks to rotate an object. You can rotate an object 90 degrees by right-clicking it - so 4 clicks puts it back into the original position. You can also rotate an object on its x, y, and z axes by holding down the ALT, ALT+CTRL, or ALT+SHIFT keys while clicking, holding, and dragging the Left Mouse button (so only 1 click). Your object will then rotate whatever you Angle Snap (F2, or got to "Options") is set to: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 degrees or "Disabled" (which is rotate down to the pixel). ...so there shouldn't be much clicking involved. Can you elaborate more specifically on what it is you are actually doing that is the issue? Currently, I'm in my base that has probably near the cap of items and I've built outside the plot up to the ceiling and down to the floor of the space - I have some highly populated areas / rooms and I am not having any issues placing or rotating items.
  14. You can sort of already do this... Just announce your TF is a "Kill all" TF and set the timer - at the end, you'll see how long it took you to complete defeating all. I'll do this with the ITF or other TFs occasionally (including Marketcrash, which does have a finite number of mobs at end).
  15. Hi and thanks. Yes, I've done that and when logged back in, the wrong Game Account is still associated with my forum account. I cannot find a way to log out of the "Game Account" here on the forums or unlink it from my forum account. I sent a support ticket and they said to log out of my game account here, but provided no instructions on how to do it as of yet. I asked how to, so hopefully, I'll get a response soon.
  16. Ok, so I'm trying to get a character onto Beta - I know! LOOONG time overdue. So, I followed the instructions posting, I downloaded the Beta server with the launcher, and to transfer a character over to Beta I went as instructed to the "Beta Account Center" here on the forums. It said I couldn't access the page without having a game account first and prompted me to create a game account. But this is confusing since I already have a game account. I wasn't sure I should login with my current game account or not - I didn't want to screw up my existing account. But I bit the bullet and entered in my game account info - at least I thought I did. I misspelled my username and ended up creating an actual new game account instead of linking my current account. *facepalm* I now have a WRONG game account attached to my forum account and I can't transfer any characters. I looked under the "Account" tab at the top here to see if I can remove or switch game accounts, but I can only change the password. How do I un-link this WRONG account from my forum account so I can link my real game account? (And how can we delete this un-needed game account?) Thanks for any help here!
  17. Yeah, for normal runs, using Lores on Black Swan is right - they can keep dealing damage while everyone deals with the portals. But everyone should dismiss their Lore pets after the cutscene and prior to fighting Tyrant.
  18. Thank you both. This is what I was afraid of. Ugh. But great suggestion on trying it out on Beta server - maybe - just MAYBE it will be tolerable. 😄

    End Woes?

I slot my Defenders like any other AT (except Blasters who get their own sustain power).... Stamina gets 3 Performance Shifters - 1 being the proc Health gets either Panacea or Numi proc (usually, whichever I have on hand at the moment) All attacks / toggles get Endredux I ALWAYS get the 4 stat-increasing Accolades (Atlas Medallion, Freedom Phalanx, Task Force Commander, Portal Jockey / villain equivalents) Additional random End Recovery / End Discount / Max End from whatever set bonuses I get usually works out fine. If the power sets have heavier end use.... Then I may add a 4th Performance Shifter to Stamina - that also gives an End Recovery bonus on top of enhancing the power more. I might add in the Miracle proc and/or Pancea/Numi procs (whichever I didn't slot first). And then specifically slot for End Recovery / End Discount / Max End set bonuses. If that still doesn't cover it and End use is extremely heavy.... I'll look to my build to see what End Recovery / Discount powers I can squeeze in (like Conserve Power, Power Sink, Consume, Physical Perfection, etc) I never get Victory Rush. While it can be useful in the early game, it eats up too may power choices early on to get it. By the end game, most people have their End problems sorted out anyway (or should, at least) and still - it requires too many other powers to take first, which eats up selection and slotting. Maneuvers and Tactics are no brainers, but if you can squeeze in a 3rd from Leadership - Vengeance is far better than Victory Rush, imo. Incarnate Powers: I do not rely on Incarnates to fill in End Recovery (or Defense / Resistance) gaps like some do. I want my Incarnate Abilities to take my toons over the top, not "normalize" them. I Exemplar a lot so I want my toons to be solid and able to run without Endurance problems pre-incarnate. BUT, that's just me.... You do have the Incarnate options available to you if all the other ways to get Endurance I've listed above doesn't help: There are several Alpha types you can slot for End and picking up Ageless Destiny can always help you But these also only help if you are doing lvl 45+ content - not really problem is you never Ex down.
  20. So, the new Mini Mode option to purchase with Aethers... Does it keep your character's body aspect ratio when it shrinks? Or does it distort features, like Baby New Year - large body, stubby legs and arms, and large head? I have fairy/pixie toons that I made as small as possible, and before spending 250 Aethers on what i HOPE would just shrink them smaller and keep them looking the same, I want to make sure they won't look like a toy bobble-head.
  21. Everyone should stop feeding the troll... the OP is notorious for making ill-informed statements like here, and then never returning to the thread.
  22. If i recall correctly during live, there was an XP-curve adjustments across all of CoX for the lower levels sometime after Going Rogue came out. So that adjustment not only made all the CoH and CoV lower level content go quicker, but also the Praetorian content too, which then made us all need to turn off XP every now and then so we don't out-level contacts. And you can level to 10, 15, and then turn off XP as needed. You can also lvl to 20, turn off xp, and finish up, if you wanted. But I would suggest turning off again at lvl 19 instead so you don't get the mish to Primal mixed in with your other contacts/content - just makes it easier, imo.
  23. Energy primary can be used well for a Ranged blaster or a melee Blapper. My Energy/Martial loves being in the thick of it and Blapping away. Really, any blaster primary is good for Ranged or Blapper. ....it's your secondary that will lean you to either side. /Energy is a secondary that is great for a Ranged blaster with all the boosts you get. But the heavy hitting melee attacks also makes it good for a Blapper. The only problem is the lack of melee AOE powers to REALLY make a great full-on Blapper. So for that reason, to me, /Energy leans more to the "ranged" blaster side. However, there are those make successful /Energy Blappers - they just are all single target hitters with their melee attacks and only AOEs coming from their primary. Even as a ranged blaster, you WILL get swarmed by mobs rushing you and that's when having those heavy hitting melee attacks really comes in handy. I see you skipped all the melee attacks, however. That is fine. You will just have to constantly be on the move, kite, and jump around to get away from those mobs rushing you. Your build is fine as is. Maybe consider swapping Stun for Bone Smasher? Bone Smasher has a high chance to stun but does high damage. I'm a Blapper at heart and prefer to play all my blasters in melee, if possible - so personally, I'd work in at least 1 more melee attack: either Total Focus for the extreme damage and guaranteed stun to stack with Bone Smasher, or if you just hate the animation time of TF, then at least Energy Punch for the fast 1-2 combo with Bone Smasher. 🙂 ...but that's just me. Whatever you do, you'll have fun with it. 🙂
  24. You can use pretty much any primary. They all have a mix of single target and AoE. But I would be more partial to Ice Blast. It has 2 single target holds (can hold a boss and with good recharge, can hold an EB). The one hold has a long animation, but it's not that bad especially if you use it as an opener on that boss. Cold damage is also not heavily resisted by foes (like lethal and some others). The cone (Frost Breath) and Ice Storm are easily skippable - but do take Blizzard (your Nuke - too good to pass up). As for secondaries, I would say /Energy is the best for single target with all the boosts and single target melee powers.
  25. In addition to Dark Astoria and Echo Dark Astoria, you can also find BP mask at: Sharkhead graveyard at night (Villains & Rogues) Talos Island at night in front of the DA gate and around the buildings there and down the road towards the FF gate (Heroes & Vigilantes).
