I can't bring up your build ATM, but how much Acc are you slotting into your powers, and are you running anything like tactics?

Gun and Sword Power set - Make it happen
biostem replied to plainguy's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This seems fitting: Necromancy | Superpower Wiki | Fandom -
As a sort of tangent to this topic, it does bug me when I see people win, or come in as a finalist for a costume contest, while basically just wearing all parts from the same set...

It really isn't weird, though; You have the element of surprise in that the enemies don't know where you'd appear, leaving them open to an attack from you. A defense buff doesn't make sense because you are already untouchable during the actual teleport. Once you reappear, you're just as vulnerable as you normally would be.

Genned for the first time in years...
biostem replied to Shenanigunner's topic in General Discussion
It's mostly to CYA and by having it in the rules/ToS, it covers CoH:HC in the event that someone tries to claim that they are letting infringers run rampant or otherwise encourage the behavior... -
Except for maybe defenders, doesn't it provide the same tohit buff as tactics, (albeit only for a few seconds)?
-
Usually, this is done with the archetype-specific enhancements, as you can only slot 1 of each per build, and some players prefer getting 2 of the bonuses for slotting 3 of them instead of the ones for slotting all 6 in one power.

If you wanted new powers what would it be?
biostem replied to darcstarmerc's topic in General Discussion
Do you mean that your character would literally summon/manifest typical depictions of the constellations or astrological signs, or just some sort of "celestial" phenomena? -
On a somewhat related topic, there are numerous statues found throughout the game - I wonder if we could get the stone/marble texture/pattern made available for the relevant player costume pieces.

So while overall I like the art style and character models for our characters here, one thing that's unsettling is the dead-eyed/blank stare our characters possess. To that end, what I'd love is a sort of "blinking" aura. I think this could be accomplished in a few ways: 1. A simple aura that sporadically places ovals of the same color as your character skin color roughly over the eye area. 2. A more complex aura that uses the same skin-colored ovals, only they go through an actual sliver to fully closed effect. 3. An even more complex version would include eyelashes as part of the fully animated blinking animation, (could still be a 2D decal applied over the existing face, though). 4. The most complicated and least likely implementation would affect the entire face and include things like subtle mouth movements and maybe even having your character's eyes move around a bit, (still as a 2d decal, though).

It's doable, but with a big caveat; If you want to be effective, you are going to have to drop to human form periodically to apply buffs or heals, such as hasten or perhaps victory rush or other such click-powers that carry over to nova form. If you don't, then as @Hyperstrike pointed out, you'd basically be a less powerful blaster with far fewer powers at your disposal...

Kill it with fire? J/K. Does holy water still work? I guess wooden stakes are right out, though. Maybe we'll need to track down his phylactery...

Obviously we need a "Cookie Manipulation" blaster secondary set, now...

How confident are you that your build is properly slotted?
biostem replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
This varies wildly depending upon the AT and powersets each character has. A character with powers dedicated to improving recovery or that straight up restore some endurance, can pretty much ignore slotting end redux enh's. Similarly, characters with some in-built and consistent +acc or +tohit rarely need to overslot for acc. If we're speaking in generalities, though, I do 2 acc, 3 dmg, then 1 "other" in my attack powers, which covers me for like 90% of what I'll come up against. -
Part and parcel of that is the misconception that you should have or are entitled to have all your enhancement slots filled with enhancements granting the maximum possible benefit. Get out of that notion, and you've solved the problem. If you don't like that, read and follow one of the numerous guides on how to generate wealth in-game.

If you want to avoid playing the market or utilizing the auction house, then there are 3 basic paths you can take: 1. Simply buy single-origin enhancements, (SOs), and/or use the ones you get as drops from enemies. This is the simplest method, but results in a generally lower power level for your character. 2. Use the invention components and recipes you get as drops to craft invention-origin enhancements, (IOs), and slot them where appropriate. You can also buy generic recipes, (i.e. ones that aren't part of a set), at any invention work table, directly for influence/infamy, then craft them as long as you have enough of the correct components. 3. Some content, like Hamidon Raids, the Ms. Liberty/Statesman Taskforce, Lord Recluse Strike Force, or Dr. Aeon Strike Force, can reward you with special enhancements upon their completion, so you could always just farm that content. That being said, I think you would be doing yourself a disservice by not using your hard-earned inf to buy the specific set enhancements you want off of the auction house. One approach you can make is that, by time you reach 50, you'll have unlocked 3 total builds you can switch between on that character; You could always create an "everyday play" build using the aforementioned SOs, then work on saving up your inf to fully kit-out one of your other builds. Whatever you decide, remember to have fun and not let the game's various systems and interfaces overwhelm or frustrate you!

Upgrade installed enhancements option
biostem replied to wmtyrance's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Didn't they change the enhancement upgrade process, so instead of going from 10 to 10+ and such, that it just becomes 11? The larger issue, IMHO, is that there's this false assumption that your typical character, while leveling up, *should* be able to maintain the maximum bonus from all their enh's. While better informing new players on the enhancement system is a lofty goal, I think part of any such efforts should include setting a reasonable expectation on just how well or up-to-date their character should be loaded out with enhancements under level 50 or so... -
I am all for opening up as many costume options as would reasonably make sense to do, given the limited developer time. For instance, most of the tiara and other such head options should be able to be ported over without issue. other parts, particularly those that have cleavage or otherwise have contours that don't exist on the male or huge models should either be skipped or perhaps moved down the list for a future release, since they'd require more work to adapt...

Heatstroke's Helpful Hints on End Management and Stamina
biostem replied to Heatstroke's topic in Guides
Another good habit to get into is learning to avoid "overflow damage"; If an enemy only has a sliver of health left, and your character is in otherwise good health, it's probably the better choice to wait for a weaker attack to recharge then firing off a more powerful and costly one that is ready *now*, even if it results in you taking some damage in the interim. Still another option is, if you are already delving into the leadership pool, (and your build permits it), consider taking Victory Rush. It's a pretty significant recovery buff, but requires targeting a defeated opponent. The only downside besides that is that it has an uptime of only about 2 minutes, has a 5 mins recharge, and does not benefit from any recharge buffs.
