Grandpa, tell me about the old days...
Glacier Peak replied to GastlyGibus's topic in General Discussion
Man the old posi was long long long! I remember not having my travel power and not being the only one, so the many mission doors across the city were an odyssey to say the least. -
What are you looking to focus on? If it's just raw damage migation, Bopper has the build for that on the main page. Are you trying to fight ranged or in melee, or both? That would help explain some of your build decisions.

Crab vs. Huntsman ranged attacks
Glacier Peak replied to Chronos's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
The activation time and the animation time are two different things. So even if it looks like it takes longer because of the switch between animation draws, it isn't taking the damage any longer to register on the enemy targeted. -
If the developers made all these suggested improvements, where would the risk be for players using the set? What would then be the set's weakness? It seems like your suggestion is just plugging all the holes of the set and leaving nothing on the table.

There are already enough Archetypes that can do anything a player could desire in this game. I don't need to be convinced of this suggestion, though I'm confident that in the past almost four years of Homecoming existing, no new Archetypes have been created, and that won't likely change unless a new developer comes along with the time, expertise, and passion shows up
-
I haven't heard why it's the first slot and only that for the unique Archetype costume parts, but I'm happy to assume it's related to it being the easiest thing to do at the time and no one with the experience needed to make the change that you've described is currently doing so.

I'd offer for your entertainment the Hero Epic Archetypes Peacebringer and Warshade and the Villain Epic Archetypes Arachnos Widow and Soldier of Arachnos to duo with, if you're looking to have a wide variety of build options. All four Archetypes can play well and be near peer to their Archetypes-focused equivalents for melee & ranged, support, tank/taunt, pets, and debuffs. Peacebringers can do anything. They have an ally heal, they have debuffs in all their attacks, they have ranged attacks and shields in Human-form, and the highest base ranged damage modifier in the game when in White Nova (Squid) form - higher than a Blaster even! Their access to White Dwarf and Light Form give players the ability to tank and taunt with little concern, though their lack of positional or typed defense (or DDR) makes for a fair balance to risk and reward. They also have fun little White fluffy pets that instantly suicide the moment you spawn them when in combat. Warshades are pretty different in playstyle, relying on mob density and AoE attacks to shine, so I've been informed. I have not had the pleasure to try one out yet, so take that statement with caution as I could be mistaken. Arachnos Widows are just godmode, plan and simple. You can build one in a way that fits your exact playstyle, particularly the Fortunata variety that focuses on ranged psychic and mez attacks. I haven't played a Soldier of Arachnos yet, but I'm aware that they have access to a great deal of pets, though not as direct-able as a Mastermind's Henchmen are.

Trade with other players or email yourself. The Auction House is the only way to get Super Packs.

Fortunata build - Claws Of Confusion
Glacier Peak replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
Yeah this is exactly my thoughts. It's just so awesome how wide the playstyle can be on this Archetype. I'm actually thinking of using the double Confuse build strategy on my third build slot. -
The Flash (movie) teaser drop
Glacier Peak replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Where are my giant space lasers! This trailer has every super hero movie trope of the modern era: time travel, throwbacks to previous versions of the character, something multi-verse related, giant CGI evil armies - but no giant space lasers?? At least it's got regular eye ball laser 😆 -
Fortunata build - Claws Of Confusion
Glacier Peak replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
I tried to use the AoE confuse in similar situations, but found that confused enemies were defeated the same speed as non-confused enemies. Meaning it didn't have a noticeable impact on gameplay and left me feeling I wasted a power pick and a few slots. -
Fortunata build - Claws Of Confusion
Glacier Peak replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
I'm curious how the choice of both the ST and AOE Confuse powers are going for you. I found Aura of Confusion to be too busy - meaning in most of my experiences where I intend to confuse a target, I focus the magnitude on using multiple applications of Confuse instead of getting multiple targets confused. -

The Eden trial was used for farming if you can believe that. It didn't always have a timer. I enjoyed taking my Fire Tanker through the hundreds of Devouring Earth mobs, herding the many floors and burning them all down. The entire thing could be abused and geometry could be teleported through for a long time, like recently patched on Homecoming kind of long time. The trial used to always be bugged due to the NPCs at the end that needed rescued (which make for a delightful Easter egg of sorts in the Dr. Aeon SF). I'm pretty sure it's the only place that you can farm Ambrosia. And boy were those Crystal Titan Origin enhancements awesome! Especially before getting your hands on Hamidon Origin enhancements. They used to only exist between the 40s if memory serves me right. Related note - the Abandoned Sewer Trial used to also be used for farming those Kraken. Edit: Oh Issue 1 is when I started. Exciting times! -
That's accurate for a majority of the content in the game. The build I made was meant for solo, 'Master of' content soloing however, so I had specific needs.

Is this like an administrative Archetype?

I've finally completed my Widow build with Elude and I'm liking it a lot. The build has 60% positional def before hitting Mind Link, which then puts it up in the +75% positional def. Elude has insane defense buffs, getting me in the 150% positional def range easily. No need for anything that high, basically playing with the 5% chance to hit from enemies before I hit Elude, but it also grants helpful recovery too and lasts an insane 3 whole minutes! I'd describe the power as over kill, but I also see it as another tool in my toolkit when soloing 'Master of' content where temps and Incarnates are disabled. Edit: Also meant to add that having Elude available gives me the option to hit a T9 after reviving, which has helped me if I go down right before defeating an AV/Hero. Nothing worse than beating down a health bar for 10 minutes and then right before you land the final blow, their 5% chance to hit kicks in and their attack takes down your entire health bar before either scaling resist bonuses or absorb proc kick in. So revive, Elude, and no need to retoggle anything!

That was lost on me, I thought that was some chat bot AI drivel. Edit: Even @GM Widower took to fixing one of their posts I couldn't understand.

It's a spam account, look at their post history. Edit: I have been reading too many Chatbot AI posts. I meant no offense 😆

If you're unsure of something in the future, try copying your character over to the Beta server where everything is free. You can get as many Prismatic Aether Particles as your heart desires to try out all the costumes before you purchase them on the live servers. That helpful hint aside, can't you manipulate the head slider to make the character head smaller?

PB Squid Form Switching blinds me
Glacier Peak replied to ZEdglord's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
You can decrease the particle count in the graphics setting, but it's not going to reduce it entirely. -
It was announced in 2021 that it wasn't likely to return. If I remember correctly, it was a bit too much work on the back end for the team to keep doing. Here is a screengrab from back in 2021 from the announcement on the Homecoming Discord: And two related threads regarding said changes if you are interested in the discussion: Pricing of Winter and Hero Packs Where's my Super Pack: Lords of Winter Sale?

Yeah I get this. Sometimes I talk about CoH in coffee shops, sometimes I talk about it with friends during a run. It would be foolish to dictate where the appropriate 'forum' (see what I did there 😉) was for folks to talk about the game. Only thing I wanted to point out was that the official means for the Homecoming team to put out information is the Homecoming forums and their Discord. And while they can lead folks to the site by requiring them to sign up to play their take on the game, it's up to the individual if they want to stick around and use their forums to talk about it. Maybe there is a better platform for advertising to new players, I'm not in that business to say what works best or even if that's the path Homecoming should take. I'm just here because they keep the lights on each month.
