[Rogue] [46-54] The Atlas of the Multiverse - Arc ID: 27055
Darmian replied to Ankylosaur's topic in Mission Architect
I'll get at this version as soon as I can. -
Oh no, I get that, I do, our Praetorian SG is filled with toons post the Rift Enclosure mission. The rest are majority 20 or under and about 6 of us are those who never left, 4 at Incarnate level. But, if I talk to an Icon employee for example, even in our SG base, I get told that they don't speak to people from an alternate dimension, the crossers don't have that issue! And laughingly Belladonna Vetrano says the same thing to me! Personally I don't distinguish between us, if I see a Daughter/Son of Praetoria badge on you then you're kin, but the game sees a difference. I do patrol around Nova and offer advice where I can to those who haven't been Gold side before (plus the offer of membership of The Praetorians SG, where they might find some folk to team with) and generally try to encourage. And I'm on a lot so peeps in the SG can call on me to exemp down and help out with some ghouls or whatever if needed. Other than that I'm exploring what the limits really are on a Praetorian who never left. Still finding out. I tend to stay at the back in iTrials in case the boss sees me though!
-
Well, as I said, "Praetorians" in general, the game has two classes of Praetorians. True Goldsiders and those who "got the ferry". LOL. I have a lot of fun though patrolling the streets of Imperial. It's like being Superman. And you just head to First Ward at level 20 and experience it that way. It's a very immersive experience.
-
Well yeah 🙂 Since if you leave you're not a Praetorian anymore as far as the game is concerned. None of your old contacts recognize you to say "no more missions for you", you've naturalized as Primal.
-
Ah, "go back". That's the snag. I didn't leave! But apparently not leaving means you can't help your homeworld because...plot?
-
I play a level 50 Praetorian (and getting there was not the easiest!) but I can't help there because I cannot access the RWZ, or any area outside the 8 Praetorian zones and Pocket D.
-
You can't even do those if you're a Praetorian anyway.
-
Which is why I argue that Arachnos, in order to move forward plot wise, needs to take a step back and appear to behave like a "normal" government.
-
I think any attempt to use Battalion is ridiculous and the team should look at what is seeded in the Lore, that's what's in the game+novels+comics and it is not an after the fact AMA, however fun that is to read, and move forward from there in a way that is not bound by the original Dev team's ideas or plans.
-
Keep him dead! What is done is dead, however badly. New stories with him? Sure, in the past. we have the Lore that allows that, but dealing with the actual consequences of his death should remain I think.

Controversial Opinion of Population Decline

Ok, thanks for that! I didn't want to get riled by text and the best way to do that is just ask nicely 🙂 See, I'm a heavy user of AE, but I don't farm and have never written a farm. I just write stories to the best of my limited ability, and that's a big part of the game for ME. So I don't actually begrudge the existence of farms and farmers, I just want a way to separate them from what I and others like me do. And I suppose we're a minority? I don't really know, either way we're not nearly as vocal as dedicated farmers/farm makers. And it's why I advocate getting the training wheels off the AE system. I am looking forward to what Piecemeal has done, I really am, but give me and the rest access to her tools and we will build you a fuller world. I'm not even talking about new stuff, just access to what is already in the game! Give us a bible to adhere to and limits and sure, it would need to be looked at by an external team, but the talent to write is there. I know, I've played stuff in the AE that is good enough, and some frankly better, given the limits of the AE tool, than plenty of the actual content in the game. Much obliged for the polite reply. That's how we all get along. We're all in the same boat, we don't need people poking holes in the bottom! -

I don't do it but a friend does, and their reasoning is sure, I'm exemped down but I still have the extra inspirations to drop, the enhancements are still firing passively better than if I was actually (insert true level) and I get to enjoy it more without just dying constantly. For me the dying is part of the game, but different strokes and all that. -

Can you clarify what this means please? -
Perhaps. But not for a long time I think. And they should be rightfully wary of the Statesman/JE conflation situation. So if they do that then "Insert Name Here" can't be any one dev's character, they have to belong to the game. We don't need an alternate Statesman, we already have one of those in custody. I still say there's a lot of mileage in Mender stories about past Statesman though.

OOKAY.

Oh sweet goobus. Being able to play the PPD and responding to a zone event and telling the heroes to back off because of jurisdiction. LOL. -

I'm never happy, you should know that by now. -
You didn't, I did and there will be a time when I can't and you will, it goes around. We're in this together 😄

Fair points all I reckon. And the reality tv analog is probably apt in many ways. As for story becoming old content? Well, true for all the content really that is played for story. I think right now, in the volunteer economy we have if they could get the training wheels off the AE then it might (I emphasize might) produce decent replayable content. Or as decently replayable as any number of Posis or Mantis at the very least! And I honestly don't know if this would address population decline but (famous last words!) it could hardly make it worse, could it? -

I won't bring PvP into this but how about now re AE? Aside from the Holy Mittens work last year and what's in the new beta, the AE is the only place you CAN get new content, whether that's a farm or an SFMA arc or some wacky thing I could never have imagined. I can't comment on your argument about it being a way to get the players to do whatever etc, because RL stuff had taken me away from the game before it dropped and I only got to use it when I came here. But right now, right now my tiny bunch of AE testers slot in things for ourselves along with levelling, trying different ATs etc. As of yesterday there were 2500 slots with no plays/zero stars. So we randomly pick one and look at it. Or there were 165 1 star arcs. Why did this only get 1 star? Let's find out. Oh dear god make it stop. If it wasn't for the simple fact that I really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings I would be so tempted to do a MST3K like set of reviews for the truly awful stuff we've looked at! Anyway, I've wandered. -

Content content content. I am very much looking forward to Piecemeal's work (I, like others, am not "spoiling" it for myself by doing it on the beta) and more of those please. But I think that finding a way to port decent AE material into the game in specific instances is a step forward. Yes, it may be the cable TV version of what you want but it would still be there in the game and with expansion of the AE tools cover the gamut of 1 to 50+. And "real". Because I know a lot of players who enjoy AE but for them it's still not really a part of the game, it "doesn't count", despite getting XP (however nerfed) and influence from it. I have copious notes to myself on all this, I must brush them up and look at them, before throwing them here to be savaged LOL. -

But what do people REALLY think? I mean REALLY? -
I've mentioned elsewhere, and I'll advocate it again here, that in a resource tight economy things need to be reused or repurposed. I think Galaxy should stay gone but also have an entire set of exemped Mender missions created for it where you can time travel back to there and do more than sight see and collect badges. Attempt to warn people of the coming meteors? Failure obviously but that could be a plot hook for lots of other things. Dark Astoria? You could do similar perhaps but given the original nature of DA that would be trickier. Not impossible but trickier.

But but SPOILERS!
